I remember that Concert.I was 19 Traffic was bumper to bumper..Byron,Ga made national news.it was a great time.staying high all the time.women all over...
Wow! What a memory jog. I was standing next to the guy filming this on the press plank below the stage. Arriving a week early in a deluxe RV my crazy uncle rented, and posing as the NBC news team, we'd been able to get press passes before they threw us out the night the festival started. We'd been parked in the performers' section and the promoters were hopping mad! Lucky for us the crowd was already too big and growing beyond expectations. Amazing times then.
You can order this complete video with the entire Hendrix performance at the website called blalocksgaragemusic. It was only released on a Japanese Laser Disc and out of print but is available on DVD transfer and this short was taken from.
This video really brings back memories: I was sleeping on the ground next to my girlfriend about 15 yards from the stage when Hendrix came on. That was the first and only time that Hendrix woke me up with his guitar playing. It was a pleasant way to be jolted awake, but it was also a bit disorienting.
I also remember a place called 'Acid Alley', where lots of people were freaking out. What a scene!
youre right. Kinda grouped everyone together.Dad died many years ago and this brings back a lot of memories .you are very kind when you didnt hav.to be.thank you.
Bob please dont judge all by what happened to you in Frisco. I was a hippie back then with tons of respect for our military.......its just like in politics, you dont always agree with the grouping on Every issue. I lost a dear cousin in Nam....im so proud of him and anyone that served. I sincerely thank you Father for serving, God bless him
wow, i remember the nakee ppl too.......we (bunch of friends) hitched separately in groups of 2 or 3 from cleveland.......I remember Hot, more like 110 degrees
people all riding on anyone and everyones cars up and down the road, it was bumper to bumper, motorists didnt have a choice, you just jumped on their slow moving vehicle..........the music was Fantastic!! thx for posting
a little historical backdrop...at the time i was riding through this concert my father was serving in vietnam. he was spit on by war protesters in san francisco when he returned.while I like a lot of music from this time period I have little respect overall for what the Hippie generation brought to fruition.Just the drugs alone and the destruction they have brought should make them hang their head.
I was 10 years old and living in nearby warner robins when this concert took place.rode down hwy 41 through the middle of it with my grandparents in their iongbed chevy pickup.about 12 really dirty hippies asked my grandpa for a ride to the creekso they could cool off .he obligedand they all hopped is the back. told grandpa id hose out the back of the truck when we got home.they told that story and my comment till the day they died.never saw so many people in one place before.
Goodness...the memories. It was so HOT!!! Remember walking down the road and a nice police officer gave me some of the ice from his cup. Guess I looked like I was about to pass out. 104 degrees...one of the hottest on record in Byron for that date. Whew. Excellent music...I remember it well.
! was at this event from beginning to end..WOW!!Wish I( had the whole event...as a 15 year old boy from a small North ga. redneck tonw..being only one of 3 longhairs, this was an eye opener..drugs sold with people walking among the crown yelling their wares.every thing from smack-to pure crystal meth...[pharmacutical..not crap like now!] even saw a ball of opium..but the thing was the music!!MAN"
Wow I love this! A friend of mine on a popular forum site posted an amazing pic of him and his friends on the way to this. And I found the flyer on Wiki and now this great vid! Thx for posting! Do you have this on DVD?

I was there also, saw this performance and night time was a welcome relief from the heat. I also was at the Festival of Life down in Louisiana.
