  • What a wonderful lady. She is greatly missed...RIP, Dottie.

  • We don't know why Dottie was killed in the accident other than Satan wanted to take out a warrior for the Lord. Dottie had lived a life submitted to Christ Jesus so we know that she is enjoying heaven. The songs that Dottie wrote and sang will live on. I remember the day that I heard about the accident that claimed Dottie's life. I could hardly believe it. If you know the Lord as Savior and Lord when you leave this world, you will see her again.

  • Who was the driver of the bus? People drive in storms all the time. I do not understand this.

  • my grandfather was on the same ship as her in 1941. i only found this out recently and he died in 1995 but still kind of interesting.

  • Internal injuries from the bus flipping or?

  • i Hope she did not suffer, i dont believe in any god but i sure hope there is one.

sure lovely music tho. RIP Dottie

  • @Helldemonboy90 You can rest assured that there is a God and we all will stand before HIM one of these days. I like the bumper sticker that says "try Jesus, if you don't like HIM, the devil will always take you back". We either belong to God or we belong to Satan. There is no middle ground. I hope you realize that you desperately need Christ Jesus and invite HIM into your heart soon. None of us know how much time we have to live.

  • so sad....

  • Dottie wrote some of the greatest gospel songs ever written. We will miss her

  • I LOVE TO HEAR AND SING DOTTIE RAMBO'S SONGS

  • Her crown is going to be to big to wear....she was an awesome lady.

  • I never had the pleasure of meeting her, and am not versed on her music. If she was of the same quality of character as her brother, then she must have been a fine American.

  • i might be related to her my last name is rambo

  • so many of her songs were made famous by other Christian artist like Michael w smith she is a great song writer will miss her

  • Dottie R,I,P,

  • I wanted to sing with Dottie Rambo. But never got to her...

  • I've only just now learned she died..

She has been the greatest influence in my ministry as a singer/songwriter, her and Vestal Goodman. Now these two beautiful sisters are together and can you IMAGINE the singing up there?

I feel tremendous loss and yet, joy, for her to now be walking the very streets she has written so beautifully about, all these years..

so long, Dottie.. meet you, in the Morning, sis.

    Love,

    Teresa

    (Rideswithastorm).

  • Don't jump to conclusions Reba probably is only trying to protect her mothers integrity. She doesn't want what her mother has accomplished to be run through the wringer of commercialism. Dottie Rambo made a profound contribution to the world, and with all the things she has went through in life. She followed Jesus with many sacrifices.

  • i love Dottie! was a great singer, but its a shame how her daughter and her manager has fought with lawsuits left and right....its sad when a person dies and people come out of the woods looking to get paid.... god bless dottie

  • How long ago was this? : -(

  • She was one of a kind..Bill was right in what he said about Dottie. I grew up and idolized this remarkable amazing woman. I remember the day she died my daughter ws in a big old half body cast from surgery and we were headed out of state to get it taken off and I had to stop..cry..and think of all the Greats in Gospel we have lost who are already home..WOW can you imagine them all singing up there right now.

  • I remember heading to church that day, and feeling impressed to pray for ppl who for the first mothers day, wouldn't have theirs. I was shocked when my pastor came out and announced the accident and death of Dottie. This was a church she sang in alot! She meant the world to me, and was instrumental in her music in leading my own mother to Jesus. She penned over 3200 songs. Was the BEST in my opinion. I'm just glad she isn't suffering now, and she sings in Heaven. I wept, like Jesus did...

  • Lambad I pray for you that you will one day realize that there is a Jesus Christ whom we WILL one day see face to face. What happens after that, is up to you. May you find him as YOUR personal Savior.

  • She was Gospel Music and has inspired me to write on and on until God takes me home too! Peter Michael Richardson

  • i never heard of her passing. i'm very surprised. thx for posting. my brother was killed in a bus accident so this feels so familiar.

  • I think Dottie was a good lady.

  • from what i hear, her manager was her family

  • Dottie West is interred in the huge mausoleum at Woodlawn Gardens in Nashville. I just saw her "grave" today. Interestingly, she is interred not 30 feet from Tammy Wynette, Jerry Reed, and the future interment site of Little Jimmy Dickens. As a matter of fact, Little Jimmy Dickens will be interred next to her.

  • Excuse me, I meant to write Dottie Rambo. Sorry.

  • see ya in heaven, Dottie!

  • Dottie Rambo is singing with the Angels in heaven now. Her tour bus was headed for North Richland Hills Texas that night. My wife went to the church that Mothers Day where she was going to be preforming without knowing about the accident. She said that Lulu Roman could not hardly preform nor Naomi Sego. It was a very tough time that day In that little store front church where Dottie was supposed to preform!

  • I was sad to hear this I put a tribute to her and Vestal Goodman on Utube. 40the gardener

  • I feel so sad, I didn't know this was so recent. I don't even remember hearing about her passing away. I feel really sad now. I am so glad she is in heaven now. God Bless her family.

  • dotty will be really missed alot...she was wonderful

  • I remember playing "We Shall Behold Him" over and over and OVER on my little record player when I was a kid. RIP Dottie

  • She was scheduled at my church a couple weeks after the accident. I was so excited! My pastor's wife gave me the announcement poster. I was going to talk to her... ask her so much... get her advice... have her pray with me. She was so anointed.

I've followed the Gaither videos since I was a very little girl. My daddy and I sing many of her songs.

Its a great loss... Southern Gospel will never be impacted like this again.

  • I will always love you, Dottie. See you in heaven!!

  • Anyone who has ever seen and heard her sing her songs loves Dottie Rambo. She could warm the coldest heart with the words of her songs, and bring tears to your eyes with the love in her voice.

My deepest condolences and prayers of comfort for her family. She was special.

"If That Isn't Love" is my all time favorite.

    Love you Dottie.

  • a big loss! will treasure her sohgs through the years such a great singer and inspiration to everyone

  • Dottie your music will always live on and uplift those left behind. I pray for your family and those that were injured. You're singing for the Lord now, Praises to the Lord. I didn't even know she had died till I seen her music on here then seen where she died. She was a wonderful child of God.

  • I did not know Dottie was dead. Just this morning, I could not get her song "I CALL HIM LORD" out of my head so I got on Youtube and found out she had died. I know she is singing in Heaven and the Lord is smiling but I will always miss her.

  • :( were is the passage when a sant comes home? she has touched so many lives. :(

  • I MISS HER!

  • Its a great loss for all the ppl here on earth, i will surely miss ur songs, but I know she is doing much better in Heaven... singing praises to the Father in front of the throne. We Love You Dottie.

    Love,

    VJ, Hyd.INDIA.

  • I hope Buck is still performing. A marvelous talent. I am sure he has repented of his fornication and accepted Jesus once again after back sliding. Satan is like a roaring lion. Stand up church... jesus is coming soon.

  • Whatever happended to Buck?

  • He left Dottie for her secretary after cheating on her her repeatedly. Dottie never remarried and Buck married the lady he cheated with in 1994.

  • Remember we must forgive oneanother, we have all done stupid things, that is why Jesus died for us. stuff like this goes on in a lot of churches to day. I have seen good pastors fall. rember they are still human and the only unforgivable sin is to reject Christ.

  • And Dottie said that she did forgive him. I was just aswering the question of what happen to Buck.

  • she was one of a kind

  • I didn't know Dottie had died. I'm truly shocked and saddened that she's gone, but her music will live on.

  • Our ways are not His ways. We cannot understand, but we must trust. No one loved Dottie more than her creator. She walked through many a valley, but always came out on the other side victorious, and with a new song. Let her go now, go to her Father whom she served. Let Him comfort you, and all of us in this time of great loss. Absent from the body is present with The Lord. Reba, you came from great stock..so have the grand kids. Carry on, know you are loved and in our prayers.

  • @hd28picker Satan tried to kill Dottie several years before the bus accident. She suffered horrible pain and was bedfast for a long time. I had the pleasure of going to one of Dottie's live performances after she had recovered enough to do a little bit of traveling. Buck was not with her. It was probably during the time that Dottie so ill that Buck began his affair with Dottie's secretary. Dottie is rejoicing and singing with the angels now. We all miss her very much.

  • I am so shocked..I had no idea that she had passed..I was looking for vickie winans version of 'We shall behold him',when I found out..My prayers is with the family..I pray that God will give you the strength to make it.I love Some Dottie Rambo she will be missed!!

  • Im truly shocked and saddened by this but I was blessed to see THE RAMBO FAMILY sing live in the 1960's there is no other songwriter that compares to this Woman of GOD

  • "IN THE VALLEY, HE RESTORETH MY SOUL." I've been singing it all day today. Just couldn't get it off my mind. It wouldn't go away. Finally, I stopped and thought about what the words were actually saying.

Restoration only comes when you're in the valley. On the mountain top, you don't need to be restored. I've been in that valley for a while now. Now, it makes sense.

  • i'm so shook up that I accidently sent my commet before I was finished,As I was saying at hearing her deaththe song she wrote that Vickie Winians sings WE SHALL BEHOLD HIM.(just an awesome song listen at the words) hope Vickie gets to sing that at her funeral. The words to that song and others He Looked beyond my faults can help those of us who mourn her get thro this . She's with jesus now . Precious in the sight of the lord is the death of his saints.Praying for the family. RIP Dottie. MISS U!

  • Vickie's rendition is awesome, but it would most likely be Sandi Patty singing "We Shall Behold Him" at the funeral since she sang the song first. I miss her already.

  • 1st thing when I hesard of her passing I started to cry then I remember that great song she wrote that the one end only Vickie Winans sung We S

  • She will be missed. God called her home at her appointed time.

No one knows when our appointed time is, that is why it is so important we be ready at all times.

  • "A fool has said in his own heart, there is no God". . .I am sorry for you that you have difficulty in believing in Him. Someday you will realize that He is real-we all have an appointed time to leave this earth-this just happened to be Dottie's day to be called home. She was physically in pain but now she rests. I just hope that you find Him before your appointed time.

  • You took the words right out of my mouth!!

  • emmtampa: God never promised any of us that life would be perfect here on earth, a life without trials and sorrows. The perfect life is in heaven, if you are a believer as Dottie was, you would know that is where Dottie is, she is now free from all pain and sorrow.

  • emmtampa: Her God did save her, when she gave her life to him. Dottie contributed much to the world, to many. God has taken her home, a home where she will have no more back pain, where she will be able to stand and walk again. It was God that gave her the strength to go on when things were not so good, it was God that kept her going to delight us with her presence. I too, hope someday soon that you will find this true God (Jesus) and find the peace that he will bring to you.

  • squareone8316-Thank you for this post my friend.

Terrible loss to us but Dotty is in a place with no sorrows tears or pain ever again. God Bless her memory.

    Michael

  • I feel terribly sad...not sad for her, but sad for me, her family, the people injured, the rest of the people who kew and loved her...what a terrible loss for this ugly world. She was one of the last beautiful things in it...

  • i just found out today that dottie passed away and my heart is broken, she was one of the few gospel greats still here with us, but know know shes finally getting to experiance that beautiful place she has sang about for soo many years!

    rip dear dottie.

  • I attended the funeral in Nasville on Monday..what a beautiful service!!

  • I just found out today that she had passed away.

I know she's up in heaven now, singing every day.

Her Maker, smile upon His face, as she writes another song...

Father, Son and Holy Ghost, it was worth it all along.

    -david LaVonne...a song for Dottie

  • If that the case couldnt he get while she was sleeping in her bed..Wake up people it all crap and it kills

  • Tears may never stain the streets of that city, but here we mourn the separation from Dottie. We look forward to the happy reunion when we all are gone home to be with Jesus. In the meantime, we'll keep playing your music, Dottie, and leaning on the hope of that faith you sang so much about.

  • Dottie will be missed! Tears will never stain and He looked beyond my faults and saw my need as been such a great source of encouragement in my life. Now she is truly sheltered in the arms of God. We love this angel of a woman...may the Lord strengthen her dear family.

  • There will never be another Dottie Rambo. As she grew older, she grew more precious with each year...

  • Farewell Dottie. We know you loved Elvis and Elvis loved you. Dottie would attend Elvis's shows and Elvis recorded Dottie's song "If That Is'nt Love" search Elvis sing this song on youtube. Thank you for all them great songs of message.Till we meet again dear Dottie..

  • The first time I saw the Rambos was in Charleston, West Virginia at the Municipal Auditorium. It was 1967 and I was 14 years old. I didn't have the money to go in so I was standing at the back door listening to the music. A tall guy came up to me and said aren't you going to go in and I told him that I had the money. He told me he would take care of it. Later on I found out his name, Buck Rambo. I went to thank him after the concert and he promptly gave me an album and introduced me to Dottie.

  • I want to cry

  • i love u dottie!!!!!!

    Thanks for posting this video!

  • God calls us all Home at different times, and the fact that He called Dottie Home on Mother's Day, is awesome in one sense, but so heart breaking in another. There are no words that can express the void Dottie has left behind in the music industry, aswell as in our lives. My thoughts and prayers are with Dottie's friends, family, and her fans ( myself included ) during this very difficult time. Rest in peace Dottie.

  • Rest In Peice With Our Fauthful Saviour,Gospel Music Like Dottie's Never Could Be Replicated.

  • I have been a fan of Dottie Rambo for years. I was in shock, when I heard of her death. She is safe in the arms of God now. She will never have any pain again. She is leading the Heavenly choir. My thoughts and prayers are with Reba and her family.

  • She is truly living in her mansion beside of Jesus right now and walking the streets of Gold

  • I thank God for the influence Dottie has had, touching many lives with her anointed music.

She will be greatly missed here on earth, but we know that she is dancing for joy and leading the angelic worshipers in heaven.

  • Heaven's gain, our loss. She was a lamp on the hilltop. I feel like I've lost my best friend; a grandmother. I don't believe I'll ever stop grieving to some extent; but I do know where my dear sister is right now and that is what keeps me and others in the faith going. We are not to grieve as others who do not know the Lord. We are to rejoice with Dottie. This is what is called "sweet grief".

  • WE WILL SEE YOU WHEN WE GET THERE...

I KNOW YOUR FACE IS GLOWING IN THE LIGHT OF HIS LOVE THAT YOU HAVE ALWAYS WRITTEN ABOUT.

God Bless the family, Reba, Donny, Destiny & Israel, her manager Larry, his wife, his son, the bus driver and his wife....

God just wanted one, and it was you!

  • Having had the opportunity to meet her on several industry occasions, I found her to be truly sweet and ultra REAL in person. She had a flashy sense of dress, and her inner soul/spirit matched that... Pure sparkle!

I'm so thankful for the musical legacy she has left through her songs, ministry and family.

Please send positive thoughts to the crash survivors inluding manager Larry Ferguson & his family, Rambo's driver and merchandising manager.

  • I grew up listening to the Rambo's...thank you Dottie for writing & singing Praises for Jesus...for you are now with Jesus, still singing Praises.

  • NO ONE will ever know how wonderful Dottie was. I am 68 year old and was 16 when I met her. She has been a majoy influence in my life for these many years. My heart is broken and will never heal. I truely will miss you, Dottie.

  • I wonder if the bus rolled and killed her. I knwo it was sitting upright when the picture was taken but I wonder if it may have been set up before then.

  • OK..the grey haired reporter kinda made me mad...like he didn't give a rip...A true legend has gone home..we miss you Dottie!
