Dear Haiying, Thank you for taking your time to show us how to do these paintings. I was curious as to what type of ink/paint you are using, also I would love to know the name of the brush you are using. Thank you so much.
I am an art teacher at an elementary school and love this. I wish my school didn't block YouTube because I would love for them to see how you made your brushstrokes and your love of painting. Thank you so much for sharing your talent.
@hmrdulcimer I am an elementary and middle school art teacher also. Although our school allows youtube, I make video and DVD so I can play on TV and projector. I find that the quality on DVD is so much better and I use different languages when I make video for students of different age. If you like, I have DVD for Chinese painting for beginners if that interestes you. I am happy to work with you. Please let me know your idea, thank you.
I am absolutely in love with your style of painting, it's so beautiful.. any one that is lucky enough to have a painting by you is special~ I would love a painting like that in my asian inspired kitchen :) <3 So nice of you to post!
When I was watching you paint this I was really thinking how beautiful it was that this bamboo you painted probably meant so much more than just a practice drawing to those watching you paint it and in the end you said "if it means more to you and you want it email me." I would have wanted it, it's beautiful. Thank you for your video it was so very instructive and you can tell how much you love that you paint and I think that's wonderful.
@thevampirepandora Now I know it does mean a lot to you. If you like, send me a message. This one is gone, but I can do one for you. You are a kind soul.
ok.... your drawings are very nice... just wanted to ask you what kind of paper is the one you are drawing on, because it seems to be a hard one... thanks in advance...
you know.. i always wanted to do this but the teacher at chinese school basically stopped because not enough people were interested in it... I remember the first thing i learnt was bamboo :P
Hi, I was watching same videos about shibori and yours called my attention. I used to paint on silk and I loved your bamboo. I live in Brasil. Thanks for teaching me.
The brush I used here is called Bamboo orchid brush, made of wolf hair, but watercolor brush can also reach the same effect. I used ink here. You can use watercolor also.
Your instructions are excellent and I really learned a lot from watching you execute this. I had everything ready and just painted along with you. Thanks so much.

I LOVE IT!! love the finished work but even more i love the way you move the paintbrush, you make it look so easy i tried it myself, of course i dont have one of those wonderful brushes, they must be expensive in america cause they`re hard to find, but they´re worth the price!! by the way, mine ended up really nice!! thanks for sharing your art!

Right paper and brush is important. However if you are just starting, use a watercolour brush or old newspaper, copy paper, paper towel etc until you get comfortable with holding brush the Chinese way and find yourself in doing the strokes.
Do not start with expensive paper that you are afraid of making mistakes.

That's so weird. When you sent my willow, I thought, "I shoulda had her put some bamboo around it!" but that might have looked weird. I don't think I've ever seen a willow tree next to bamboo. Our neighbour has a bunch of bamboo in the back of his yard by the alley. Great for privacy. I love listening to it when the wind blows through. New pieces are so pointy!
