The smaller ones like mine are hard to come by, but you can get one about twice the horspower of mine on Ebay right now. 1912 Case Steam Tractor Engine 60 HP... Buy it now, for $35,000....
i love these engines, they aint as decorative as the 1s here in the uk but they show that looks aint everything, they have that gr8 industrial look and show that simple things do the job & do it well!
It does move on its own, but requires about 15psi or more to drive around. We had just parked it for the day following it's first run after a year long restoration.
It was originally built in 1903. I recently got it running again and still have some minor work to do. The boiler has been fully inspected by my State's authorities, and it has all new piping and hand valves. This winter I will repour the babbitt crankshaft bearings, and make new brass bearings for the connecting rod and valve linkages.
i see. well great job on getting it up and running again. we need people like you and myself to keep these things around. too many people just dont care anymore. keep up the good work!
Is there any chance you might be able to give us a video explanation/ demonstration of how the Case valve, and reversing gear works?

I think it would too, that's why I started building a live steam model of one. Love the J.I. Case steamers!
