At least if a politician drives through, waving, you know he has an idea about what the area looks like. one Brit MP who owned a small terraced slum in his constituency, in the north, while living in a stately home down south. I dont know what the rules are, I think mps are supposed to spend at least some of their time in their constituency.
Wow! I would not last in Japan. Way too opinionated -- good-naturedly so, mind you. But I'd still be chattering on about my opinion. Didn't know about the election cars but I did see a film called yuki yukite shingun in which someone used a car to go about making political proclamations. Thanks for the upload.
Still less annoying than Aussie politicians and their photo ops.

It is indeed.
Politicians in Japan all say the same platitudes. "I will endeavour to
create a town that is safe, kind to old people, full of life, peaceful, and
prosperous." So the punters do not know who to vote for. They vote
for the guy that puts in the effort.

From my own point of view I would be inclined to vote for a Ron Paulish candidate that lists the things that the would cut, at least as much as
the things that they would promote because tax seems to be on an ever
increasing slide. But no Japanese politicians list the things that they
would cut. I guess that they are scared of loosing votes.
