  • mat!

  • my corn is fine without a bulb just a map

  • Comment removed

  • hello there :) so can i have two male snakes together in a tank?

  • What are the heating requirements for a royal python?

  • i just bought an adult corn snake and while i was holding it it coiled around my wrist and opened its mouth at my forearm is this normal i washed my hands and havent fed it yet according to the breeder it didnt need to eat for another week and 4 days

  • hi :) just wandering if my rat snake will be happy in a 36" viv, was just gunna buy one but thought id best double check. thanx. :)

  • i have a question my snake was eating fine for 2 monyths den it suddenly stop eating in a 3rd month ii tried to give it again d it wont take it any sugggestions

  • it waned boob 4:32

  • Hey, i thought snakes should be kept individually...?

  • @MrScottishMadman

    1. As it's thermostated this wont happen considering it's a corn. If this was for a heavy boid I would agree with you as it can cause thermo blocking in the heatmat.

    2. I agree, not that they like to stretch out though, more that it's cramped. You could get away with 2 in a 3x2x2 but I would go up to a 4x2x2 for the extra one.

    3. Depends on the food choice. I personally feed mine a large mouse every 2 weeks. But you could feed a small mouse every week and still be same.

  • Can a corn snake eat eggs? chicken eggs maybe?

  • @Zaper692 I have seen many an opportunist snake eat eggs in the wild, but it's not going to happen with a CB corn snake

  • hi was wondering is a 36inch viv big enough for a corn snake?

  • @vBrownie1 yes

  • just bought a adult corn setup will it be here by monday?

  • @Mrds225 did you get it? :)

  • @ReptileCentre yh yh thanks getting my corn today thanks again :)

  • Great video if you want to look at how much the setups are go on the website in the description. thats what im doing

  • How much would this cost to set up?

  • hi i was wondering if you had any job vacacies available im willing to move to northampton if the oportunity arises

  • @TheReptileking011 hi, we don't at the moment, but we are opening franchises around the country so there will be vacancies at some point. Search for 'Realm of Reptiles' on Facebook or Twitter to keep updated

  • I just want to know what the best way to introduce two corns too each other is, because I'd prefer mine living together but at the moment they are living in seperate tanks thanks

  • do you have any baby corns for sale if so what morphs do you have

  • @MrScottishMadman

    1. No, it's on a thermostat.

    2. Depends on the depth on the viv too.

    3. It will get fat on too much food.

  • Love your mom i do post this now

  • excellent video... when you mentioned about creating colonies or breeding corn snakes. should you house them together? ive read a mix of opinion on the matter

  • @pallarisari we house ours together and have never had a problem. Just make sure they are similarly sized

  • hi i was wandering whether you deliver the animals them selves or whether they are for pick up only

  • @ck207 pick up only I'm afraid

  • that so called adult corn at 1.50 is tiny i held a monster specemin at a local garden centre it must have been 6.5' so i know they dont stop at 5' for a fact

  • @TheReptileking011 you have to talk about averages with the animals. It's not wrong to tell people to "expect a corn snake to not reach more than 5ft", because most don't.

  • @ReptileCentre cool now that i have your attention could you tell me how much you charge for a 4'x2'x2' wooden vivarium and could you ship one to me in manchester (permitting the price is right)

  • @TheReptileking011 shipping to Manchester is currently £5.95, the cost of vivs varies but if you go to our website and look up the EX48 or EX55 you will get the latest price of a viv in that size range

  • Way better than expertvillage!!

  • how old can the corn snake be when u can leave them on there own

  • thanks for the video im getting a corn snake tomorrow

  • @XxNintendoManxX thank you!

  • you should never have the heatmat inside the enclosure...

  • @KittehhCatt it wouldn't be much good outside the enclosure...

  • How long do I need to keep the light on for? Could I leave it on in the night and turn it off during the day?

  • @xXBlondAngelXx as long as you are creating a regular day/ night cycle for your snake, that is all that matters

  • vivariums contain live plants

  • @RHACOREBERS do they?

  • @RHACOREBERS They don't have to.

  • Should I feed my snake in its aquarium or in a seperate box? there r so many different answers out there im so confused :(

  • @jbracq2008 depends on the substrate mate :)

  • @jbracq2008 you don't want it to swallow any substrate that gets stuck to the mouse, so if this can happen feed it outside the vivarium

  • @jbracq2008 Outside! Always, and always wash your hands before and after handling the food.

  • that orange snake had nice colors

  • my corn snake is easly over 5ft

    u lied :P

  • @oOcrazy95Oo I have known them at 6ft even! But that is quite unusual, 5ft is a good size for a corn

  • thanks really helpful im subscribing im getting my corn snake tomarrow

  • @TheMlf that's great thanks! What sort of corn are you getting?

  • @TheMlf just a couple of albinos

  • so if i get 2 milk snakes, can i put them in the same cage?

  • @Bdog51000 No, milksnakes are kingsnakes and eat other snakes

  • froma young corn snake, how long could i keep it in a 20 gal vivarium??

    Thanks! :)

  • i am going to buy one corn snake at the end of this month and all its enclosure needs and so on would you you tell me how much i will need for all of this thanks.

  • I was thinking about buying a corn or a milk. I was wondering if it would be ok in a 55 gallon tank once its at an adult. I know to put the baby in a 10 gal but once it get bigger would it be ok in a 55 or is that too big?

  • @TalentWorthWasting what are the dimensions of a 55 gal vivarium? Sorry, we don't use that system in the UK so I do not know

  • Hey, I have a few snakes and about a fortnight ago I got a baby apricot pueblan milk. A few days ago it shed but it didn't come off in one. I have made sure all the skin is removed but how can I avoid this in the future ?? Thanks

  • @THEDUNBAR100 a moss box will help with that if you haven't got one already

  • for example i have a corn for a year now i want to and another one but mine is a male it have to be male the new one they wont figth or some thin like that

  • so if i want to have a colony i have to put the same sex qs the other for exampe

  • @numbersssssssssss I think 100w would be too much, maybe try a 75w and monitor it

  • @skorpionfart she said 60 watt for 3 foot tank reflector bulb

  • What about rat snakes? Lol.There part of that Family Rat snakes are the same as corn if anybody was wondering lol.

  • when she said light bulb what kind of light bulb please reply reptilecentre or if you have a corn snake

  • hi im only 14 my uncle is giving me his 3 year old corn can anybody give me tips on tempreture as the snake is going in my room and my bedroom is always cool so what tempreture should i have my cool and warm side of vivarium thanks anybody who can help.

  • @DioxiDezZ if you are around 85 at your warm end the cool end will typically look after itself

  • i got a florida king, had her just over a year n she was six month when i got her, i still feed once a week, shuld i star feeding once every two week, i dont want to make her over wieght, she is just over 3ft, shes my first snake so still learning, i took her to the vet the other week and was told shes very healthy so must be doing summet right, and is she big enuf to move into a 3ft viv, shes in a 2ft at the min but a friend told me wait another year before i move her

  • @123alybob maybe try every 10 days rather than every 2 weeks.

At that size, you can move her into a 3ft viv whenever you are ready, she'll be fine.

  • @KeyboardProductionz nah they are primarily solitary and do well, though corn snakes will still thrive if kept with similar sized others.

  • im getting a corn snake i am a reptile man but this is my first time that i will be getting a snake my previous pet was tortoise's but anyways just wondering is it vinimis

  • perfect clip as she demonstrated every aspect of the corn snake caring.

  • @ArtHerpetologist thank you very much!

  • why use a "light" bulb when corn snakes for the most part are nocturnal?

as for day and night temp, would it not know to go to the cool side of the viv at night if thats what it wishes?

  • my corn snake is 3 yrs and he is five foot XD

  • i love snakes...but parents are EXTREMLY annoying and hate them

  • I LIVE IN NORTHAMPTON!

    woo! Lol...wut? I really do!

    Just sayin' x

  • @Mi553MW3 awesome, kinda! :-)

  • @ReptileCentre :) B.t.w this was REALLY helpful, so thanks! x

  • Is that a Java Branch and what size is it? eg. small, medium etc

    Thanks

  • @rosswilson31094 can't remember exactly, looks like a medium though

  • @ReptileCentre Ok thanks, A second question would you recommend a coloured basking light? Or do they annoy the snake Thanks

  • @rosswilson31094 to be honest, I don't think the snake would care either way. I personally prefer a more natural 'day' colour light in my vivariums

  • Do you need to wipe/disinfect the heat matt too?

  • @molley17 I would disinfect everything when I'm cleaning

  • amazing video good job that helped out alot

  • @killamonke excellent, thank you! Hope you enjoy getting a snake!

  • Can i have two Corn Snake in the same tank? I want to but a lot of ppl say you can't do this .

  • @HitThatBeatStudios do they give a reason why? As long as they are roughly the same size they are absolutely fine. Sometimes males may spar with each other at breeding time but this is relatively non-aggressive and serves just to decide who is dominant. We have lots of our corns in together.

  • Thanks I have my viv, just need to get it setup and I have a deposit down for a milk snake =D

  • What fitting were you using for the bulb?

  • @Carnuss any standard bulb fitting is fine but we use the Euro Rep ES fitting (screw).

  • Great video.

  • that was good. all of the videos iv seen today and over the last few weeks this is the most helpful and interesting and motivated me more to get a snake wether a king snake or corn snake. thanks. but would you help me on one question? do corn snakes and milk snakes have teeth? thanks

  • @MrWrestlemania2011 yes they do, but they're nothing to worry about

  • @ReptileCentre ok thanks

  • at night do u turn off the heat light and keep on the heat mat and at day do u keep them both on please reply

  • @MrCyberthug97 the mat is on a thermostat so will not be on during the day as the bulb temperature is higher than the setting on the thermostat. At night the bulb goes off and the thermostat turns on the heat mat.

  • I have a question:

Is it possible to keep a red and a yellow rat snake together?

  • @RockloverMJ9 we do and they are fine together

  • @ReptileCentre Exelent, thank you.

  • would you recommend a corn snake for a beginner in reptile keeping. i've already considered if I could afford to keep one, and when I could fit it in, in the future but are they recommended for beginners?

  • @lordhaych19 I can't think of a better reptile for beginners than corn snakes. They are ever so easy to care for and the running costs are so low

  • @ReptileCentre thanks for replying

  • If you house the snakes together... how do you determine which has had, say, a regurge? or what if there is an issue with the feces; how do you know which snake produced that sample? For colonies, say you get an animal sexed, via both popping and probing and both those methods say 'female' and you plop it in with another girl. You mentioned concerns about breeding too young. I have a male who both popped and probed female. Egg binding ahoy?

  • @shiariryu we separate all snakes when we feed them and leave them separated for around 18 hours. It's quite unusual for them to have a regurge after that, especially as our temperatures are perfect and we do not allow anybody to handle them for at least a day after feeding.

If we thought their was an issue with the health of any snakes they would be separated but again it rarely happens. If corns get ill after a certain age, you usually have to question the environmental aspect of the husbandry

  • Kingsnakes can be potentially cannibalistic?? I didn't know that. What I do know is that they ARE cannibalistic, their natural prey is other snakes.

Similar in some ways to corns being opportunistic eaters, they will eat if they have the opportunity, especially as hatchies. I wonder if they'd eat another corn given the opportunity??? I also note that the mat is stat'd, very few people say to do that, so well done. However the lamp isn't, is the lamp AND mat essential together?? if so, why?

  • @Kehhlyr we use the mat and bulb for different jobs. The bulb raises the air temperature during the day, replicating the sun (heat mats do not heat air). The bulb goes off and the heat mat comes on at night, replicating the retained heat in the ground from the sun.

It's a nice system, and keeps our snakes (and our customers) in superb condition.

  • i love snakes :) i really want a milksnake!, (i got a boa constrictor now) but my last snake (an african housesnake)was very aggressive, i almost couldn't take her out :s how can i make my milksnake calm and relaxed if i get one? please tell me. //Stephanie

  • @TheInsaneStephanie

Perseverance. They'll chill eventually with regular and gentle handling providing that the setup is good as well.

  • @TheInsaneStephanie House Snakes can be pretty wild sometimes. Milks are lovely though, if you handle them regularly you'll be assuring them that you are nothing that they need to worry or be nervous about.

  • mines is a california king snake........hes pretty active, still a baby tho

  • @Terance3689 love cali kings, such characters

  • @ReptileCentre mines is being a lame at the moment, keeps on hiding now lol

  • What is the jet black snake shown in this video?

  • @TheKraken21 it's a Mexican Black Kingsnake. They are very stylish!

  • @TheKraken21 mexican black king snake

  • 4:25 - 4:39 horn(y) snake

  • lol 4:35 hes reachin for some boobs

  • Hello. For the feeding, is it ok to feed them live mice? Because i can get live mice fairly easily, and getting frozen ones is rather difficult here.

  • @cuentanumero11 different countries have different laws and legislation regarding this. My personal opinion is that it is unnecessary, especially with corn snakes. You'd also be surprised at the damage a live mouse could potentially do to a snake if there's a struggle.

  • For the Feeding. I have a 4ft Creamsicle Corn snake, and when i feed him i tend to defrost the mice a little faster by soaking them in hot water and then trying them off a bit with a towel. Is this ok or should i just let them thaw on their own?

  • @Valodone i prefer to let them defrost slower so I know that they are defrosted right through the middle. But if you are certain they are thoroughly defrosted then it is fine

  • hey, i am planing on getting one, two or maybe three baby corn snakes of the same sex, is it safe to keep them all in one tank?

  • @MrJacc94 yes that's absolutely fine, corns are so placid they get on ok with each other

  • @MrJacc94 DONT LISTEN TO HER! look up corn snake cannibalism. you'll see what i'm talking about

  • @alpine691 it's so unbelievably rare that it's not even worth mentioning. It's like saying humans shouldn't live together because some humans are murderers.

  • @ReptileCentre are you saying certain humans aren't murderers? humans and snakes are two completely different animals. humans can tell if other humans are going to murder them, but you cant tell if your snake is going to eat another snake. if there's a possibility it could happen than you should just avoid it altogether.

but what do i know? i only take my advice from one of the best corn snake forums around.

  • @alpine691 we work with hundreds of these snakes everyday. We breed countless corn snakes every year. We've been doing this successfully for the past 17 years. But what do we know either hey?

It's great that you do your own research, and with your snakes you should only do what every your comfortable doing. You just need to consider how extremely unlikely this is, even with the quantities we deal with, I've never experienced it, ever.

  • @ReptileCentre meh, to each their own. if there's a possibility that it could happen, it will happen and i've seen too many examples of why it's a bad idea. I would especially hate if one of the people you give advice to (whom were not even sure on how experienced they are with snakes) turned out to be a statistic of cohab-cannibalism. it's best to just avoid the situation altogether.

  • @ReptileCentre

The counter to this is that humans are not squished into glass boxes together. If we want, we can get far far away.

  • well its kinda like the the cage u have but it doesnt have them fans at the back

  • @MrILiKeToMoD they are just vents at the back, not fans :-)

  • @ReptileCentre ok but that werent my question i have another one if u scroll down could u plz answer it??

  • @ReptileCentre what size would you recomend for a baby and how often do they shed ?

  • @matty140397 a baby can be kept in a 2' vivarium. Set up the same way as this video just on a smaller scale. How often they shed depends on how fast they are growing, which depends on genetics, food, temperature etc so I can't really answer that accurately.

  • i have like a 20gal or 30gal tank its wood and has sliding doors at the front is it ok for a baby corn snake or is it too big? and should i feed my snake once a week and whats the best to put onthe floor aspen or wood chip???

  • @MrILiKeToMoD it would be fine providing you have plenty of hides so it feels secure. Babies feed once a week, adults once a fortnight. You can used either aspen or woodchip, I think woodchip looks nicer but that's your choice

  • @ReptileCentre ok thanks

  • @ReptileCentre ok thanks and how should i defrost the baby mice?

  • @MrILiKeToMoD just leave it out of the freezer for an hour or two

  • 4:36 Snake "mmm boooobies" lolz

  • i know this might sound stupid but do snakes actually show theyre feelings or grow attached to you?

  • @Rawlinlikeafishy snakes know what side their bread is buttered, but to interpret them as feelings? I guess we'll never know 100%

  • My Corn Snake is 2 years old and over 5 foot, how much bigger could she get?

  • @wretcheddamnation they can get to 6 feet but usually yours would be considered quite a large corn

  • I havent purshaded any snake yet... Is a ball python a better choice than a corn snake for me... which is the easiest to care for??

  • @yiannis1996 I would reckon a corn snake but i like balls more

  • thanks for your advice...

  • @yiannis1996 ball pythons are not difficult to care for but corn snakes are by far the best beginners snake due to ease of care and docile temperament. My advice though, go for which ever you prefer, they are both great pet snakes.

  • hey when it comes to handling milk snakes: are they about as docile and tame (when you handle them from being young) as corn snakes? thx.

  • @rolfess69 yeh if you handle kings (including milks) regularly they are every bit as docile as corn snakes. I think the colours on milk snakes are hard to beat though

  • 4:29 snake wants boobs haha

  • in a wooden viv a heat mat isnt needed if you have the other heat source (ceramic lamp/bulb) because its non light emitting on a dimmer it controls the heat great, because its set at one end , its going to get colder te futher it is away, this creating a cool end up to 10 degree less so it will reside at that end at night and baskon the hot end during the day

  • @kaleluk31 that's exactly how we keep our arboreal snakes that would not benefit from ground heat during the night so require 'air temperature'. Well, ceramic and pulse stat.

  • @ReptileCentre well ive had a royal/ball python and now i have a corn snake. in a wooden vivarium i never bother with a heat mat if i have a ceramic lamp/bulb on a dimmer thermostat because it heats up ambiant temp, and because the bulb/lamp is at one end then it has a cool end and a warm end, at night it will move around all the vivarium but sleep at the cool end, during the day, just before it get light it will normally move across to the warm end where it will stay untill its well dark again

  • @kaleluk31 exactly, heatmat is pointless if you have a ceramic for the night

  • ive always been told that you need a minimum of 2 hides in a wooden vivarium, 1 at cold end another at warm end.

a light bulb isnt needed if you have natural light comming in to the room its in, besides that 99% they come out at night time hours.

for heat i use a guarded ceramic heat bulb/lamp thats non light emitting on a dimming thermostat and using a digital thermomiter for apsolute accuracy and monitoring.

  • i like how british people say vitamins

  • @reptileboy676 all these years I thought Hulk Hogan was pronouncing it wrong!

  • how come u use a bulb i thought they only need a heat mat and wht size is the heat mat i have a 3 ft viv and will a 3ft viv be ok for a adult

  • @Maul767 a female corn snake will do better in a 4ft wooden viv cos they can grow to 6ft and like the floor space to go around in, a 3ft is ok for a male cos they get to 4-5 feet something like 3ft x 18 x 18 vivarium minimum.

  • how come u use a bulb i thought they only need a heat mat and wht size is the heat mat i have a 3 ft viv
