The first time I heard it, it was as a long lost souvenir coming back, must have been the mastery of the the good old americano-irish-canadian friend reciting it, but also the real meaning of what is a Man that don't fit in is...A mirror of sort, that wandering friends share around a fire camp or on a balcony of busy city street... Friends we never or will never forget;-) Merci for the listen and your story.
This is my favourite poem , that I heard first in the early 1990's in a Wigan pub by an old bricklayer, named Billy Connolly, now sadly passed. He'd come across it whilst working in Whitehorse 30 years earlier. When I'm a bit sauced, it occasionally gets an airing if I think about him. It was my sad pleasure to read it aloud to his friends on a bright september, sunday morning as we spread his ashes in his favourite place. What a guy, Billy . And RW Service's not bad either...
Wow, you are welcome, kindly! This was amazing, Guybou... I did not know of Service, I looked him up in Wiki, and will look at his website. Is he on Facebook? J/k. ; )
That was a powerful poem. Energizing, and sad. I loved your passionate reading! (Sorry it took me a couple days to get here.) Tres wonderful! ^_^
Thanks to you for shining a light on this exquisite poet just passed. That's how treasure is discovered these days, my friend. So much human treasure, and so little time!
Interesting the last time I saw Stinging Nettles in great numbers on the side of a mountains, was when I was planting threes north of Prince-George in B.C.
Yep I had to plant amist them lol!...Well ouch! ouch! ouch!!
I dont know, why for a one moment ozzy osbourne , cam here to my mind ..... i dont know, jejejejeje ............ ummmm ... maby for diary of madman ??? .....
@Loreleila Aar Aar! my Dear;-) Et bien, thank you! I always liked reciting Poetry my own as of others authors writing with which I can relate and play out;-) When I played in the Old Québec street early eightiesI definitly had a Pirate look;) Though many thousand of tourist took my picture then, I don't really have any pictures of that non-digital period lol! Ciao my good friend!
Well read. Although I might never make permanent roots in this life I lead a much more interesting one and will have interesting stories to share when I pass on to whatever lies beyond.
Well done my friend, well done.
