  • Oh, if one was to pay attention to the credits, Optimus Prime from Transformers does several voice overs, including Murky!

  • @spirittammyk Hell yes. The old-school VA's got around, doing WILDLY dissimilar voices for multiple cartoons...unlike today's VA's who pretty much just do the same voice for different shows, ala Lorenzo Music (RIP).

  • @Rhiorrha So true. Another personal favorite of mine is Rob Paulsen, who voiced the 80's cartoon version of Raphael in TMNT. He's returning to TMNT, but he'll be voicing Donatello this time.

  • I wonder if I can get this as a ring tone. Geeze, the looks I would get at the check out would be hilarious!

  • Has anyone seen the montage video set to Freedom Call's Land of the Light? Its a total mindfuck how well a power metal song works for a Rainbow Brite video, at least I thought so.

  • still listening to this in 2012....and beyond!! hailing from the bahamas!!

  • This song is crazy catchy. Every now and again it used to pop up in my head. This was since i was like 7ish. Kinda flashbacks me back to my childhood. And now i finally learned the words to it (somewhat). LOL. Nice upload.

  • @TheJamel1978 Oh, if you need the lyrics, I'll just add them in the "show more" area

  • @Rhiorrha Oh snap. You just completed a piece of my childhood. Thanx.

  • Can't read a word of the credits, but MAN that song. <3

  • @lalalei2001 You want? I just got the composer cut a couple days ago.

  • @Rhiorrha Sure!

  • Did I just hear "Fuck with me?"

  • ^_^ ahhhh... memories, I was a teenager when I saw this movie.

    Thanks.

  • i never realised that the (now legendary) Peter Cullen did this movie/series

  • Catchy song and the credits are rainbow coloured, RAINBOW COLOURED! No wonder I never forgot since I was like four.

  • Nd the credits was just right

  • Omg this just took me back to hbo b4 digital cable pigtails brettes grade school inocents

  • cute song :)

  • @ antgto I just commented on the other video about how I used to get picked on for liking Rainbow Brite and saying they can all go to Hell now. So you should tell your friends the same thing.

  • @ladyserenityrain

Actually, it did. The whole series dvd set was released and sold on Amazon for 12 bucks in 2006. I snatched it when I saw it. It was released by a small distribution company called Popcorn Films that was working with DIC/Cookie Jar, and went rogue with their IPs (such as releasing RB on dvd without permission) and getting in trouble for it. It's still for sale, just more expensive now (30 bucks instead of 11.99), and not direct from Popcorn anymore. Go for it. 3 boxes left.

  • cartoons these days are not what they were in my childhood. they dont teach children any values!

  • This song and the ending song for The Care Bears II movie made me feel happy and so special as a child. Now, it makes me feel like a wierdo for liking both of these songs.

  • I love this song and contary to the critcs it was a very pleasant movie to watch.

  • I watcd this when I was ten. And I know I was a boy then and I'm grown man now, but I like this song. Guilty. I like Rainbowbrite. My sister is seven now and someday I hope to get a chance to introduce this to her.

  • maaaaan.. T_T I seriously got a tear in my eye.. So glad I found this! D': ..I even had a cute blue backpack with Rainbowbrite and starlight on it. I feel bad for the kids these days.. whats worse.. I feel horrible for my (yet to be born) children.

  • AAAAAAaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • This was sung by Rainbow Brite's voice actress :)

  • @1000davy

    @Johnpicha

    You Start Work That...

    3-D Animation...

    Thank You...

  • The ending theme is so catchy, I love it! <3 Good memories!

  • Rainbow Brite = The original Shoop Da Whoop.

None of this one-color lazor stuff!

  • Bettina Bush is also the voice of Lucy Little in THE LITTLES.

  • I do believe that they didn't make enough of this cartoon. Sometimes I think that this is one of the cartoons they should have made at least 5 seasons of .

  • No matter what they say about this movie I think it was great.

  • @FGwriter Uh...something's wrong with whatever you listened to SYBTTG on...check your sound system.

  • @Rhiorrha You're HONESTLY telling me you don't hear the SLIGHTEST similarity between the 2 songs? C'mon, now....I'll admit I was just exaggerating with my first comment (I don't actually believe the song's creator intentionally ripped off MJ's song), but you gotta admit this song sounds like a slower, higher-pitch version of SYBDTTG in the first couple of seconds (and from 0:40 to 0:44). The beat and the notes in those parts, are very similar to the other song

  • @FGwriter Ummm not in the slightest

  • @FGwriter my sister also brought this point up a few years back, when we were talking about this song. we both love this song (and we saw the movie when it came out) and my sister said, "part of that song sounds like the jacksons!" i had to laugh, because it really DOES sound like 'shake your body down'...

  • @FGwriter What?? These two sound nothing alike...completely different chord progressions, different key, different tempo...are you deaf?

  • @kwadruple Read my other comment I posted. After that, listen to the part from 0:40 to 0:44 like I pointed out in that comment, then listen to 'Shake Your Body'. If you're honestly saying you can't hear any similarity AT ALL between the two, then I think it's pretty obvious who's deaf

If you don't think it sounds THAT similar, that's one thing (that's your opinion). But to say they sound 'completely different'? C'mon now.

  • You said "COMPLETELY" ripped off. Maybe it's you who should re-read your post.

  • @kwadruple In my 2nd comment, I said that my 1st comment was a joking exaggeration; I even said 'LOL' at the end. If I had known there were such serious defenders of the originality of a cartoon song for kids on YouTube, I would have been more accurate with my 1st comment. Let me now correct that mistake:

ATTENTION EVERYONE: I personally believe that the part from 0:40 to 0:44 sounds similar to 'Shake Your Body' by the Jacksons. This is my opinion that you may or may not agree with.

    Happy?

  • @FGwriter And also the part from 1:22 to 1:26.

  • @kwadruple This song didn't rip off that MJ song one bit. But I gotta admit that "Sonegaly" by Tarika (from the Putumayo CD album "Islands") does sound quite like a super-slow version of SYBDTTG.

  • @FGwriter That is like saying Brougham's "Murked Out" (which I can't upload or it will get blocked) completely ripped off ACDC's "Back In Black."

  • @FGwriter Honestly i dont see where you see the rip off between this song that Jackson´s 5 one, maybe some riffs sound a little smilar, now if you really want to hear a trully musical rip off, just compare MC Hammer song "U cant touch this" with Rick James song "Super Freak" now that´s a trully rip off >XD

  • Wow....that song COMPLETELY ripped off Michael Jackson's 'Shake Your Body Down To The Ground'....LOL

  • Wow....that song COMPLETELY ripped off Michael Jackson's 'Shake Your Body Down To The Ground'....LOL

  • i love this song!! brings me back to my childhood!

  • :D.

  • i wish kids had the same morals as we did...(i was a teen when this came out)).......they just dont seem to give a crap anymore........

  • o my comments arent showing up.....who sang this??????

  • Bettina Bush, Rainbow Brite's voice actress. Want the mp3?

  • @Rhiorrha send me the mp3 at namix22@aol.com

  • @Rhiorrha Hell yeah send that my way

  • @Rhiorrha Bettina Bush also is the voice of LUcy Little of THE LITTLES cartoon show.

  • @Rhiorrha I want the mp3!!!!! <3

  • @tabbydove I just got the original from the composer's site. give me an email address to send it to and it's yours.

  • who sang this....does anyone know.....

  • what year did this movie come out...i couldnt see it on this

  • According to the dvd, 1985. Seems to be about the time I saw it in theaters, too.

  • 1985. Same year Back to the Future, Teen Wolf, Fright Night, and Vampire Hunter D came out in!

  • والله اوقات عل فيديو كاسيت sony كان عدنه انلم جهال المنطقة ونشوف رينبو برايت بسنة ال97والله وكت وبصراحه عيوني دمعن

  • Smells like childhood =)

  • How on Earth did RainbowBriteCoUk figure out that Bettina is not the one singing this?

  • Bettina DID SING THIS SHE USED TO HAVE IT ON HER OFFICIAL WEBSITE FOR DOWNLOAD @

    BKDBrian2

  • that movie kicked ass!

  • It's filled with joy and rich in color!

  • yea its great....

  • @aleorangekit its been over 20 years since iv heard this and yes...its filled with joy etc...

  • ^_^ I love this song. Brightens my mood. So catchy, too!

...Am I the only one who thought Krys reminded them of Speed Racer?

  • me too!!!!!!.....just makes me happy

  • OMG-sing-a-long everybody!!!

  • @ScorpiousMagnus

"When you need a brand new friend, it opens up the world... ~♪

  • How did I end up here??? Who the hell is 'Rainbow Brite???' But-it's a damn catchy tune...lol. Rainbow Brite is coming to get u-I can see death by glitter!!! Joking-I know I won't be able to get this out of my head 4 the next week,month,year...lol!!!

  • Love this song OMG

  • It's from late 1985. That year rocked the 80s!!!!

  • i actually felt kinda suicidal...but i listened to this and it turned that right around....

  • I'm glad. I don't know you, but I can't deny this song is powerful. Listen to it more :) Turns my day around every time.

  • who actually sang it????

  • Rainbow Brite's voice actress, Bettina Bush.

  • I'm a fan of voice acting (and a guy. not ashamed to admit I watched this show growing up). I was watching Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children when it came out a few years back and couldn't place that name when is came up in the credits. She voiced Elena of the Turks in that movie. Kinda neat that a VA in the business that long could peice together a fandom of my present to one of my youth.

  • @Rhiorrha Sorry to disappoint, but we've contacted Bettina directly and she says she did not sing it. =(

  • i dont even really remember the movie but i DO remember the song..............

  • I loved this song when I saw the movie (when I was 16!) and I still do...

  • you and me both...and i was the same age as u i think

  • Man, I got the movie and I still LOVE this song!

  • Message me for download links for this movie! This is NOT spam, guys.

  • *o* rainbow brite...my childhood hero...the world needs this, thanks for uploading :D

  • MAN i remember watching this when i was young, probably under the influence of my older sister lol but yeah oldies but goodies. this is great stuff bring back memories

  • Does anyone know where i can get the audion for this? I can't find it anywhere but the song makes me so happy!

  • Okay. Thank you. But her singing voice sounds a lot like Cree Summer. I love her. .

  • holy crap...i just remembered this after over 20 years...thanx for posting.......cute as hell hehehehe

  • Thanks for posting this song. I loved this movie as a young child. Its too bad there weren't more created back then!

  • Is this Cree Summers singing?!

It sounds an awful like her!!

  • no its Bettina Bush

  • Wow, just wow! I remember when I saw this in the theater and having a crush on Rainbow Brite. My God, it's been 24 years!!! It's safe to say, those were the days.

  • How old are you now? I was almost 3 when it was released and I love this song!!!!

  • Just turned 29. Most my friends make fun of me for liking this song (let alone having seen the movie), but whateve, it's a good song.

  • There shouldn't be anything wrong with being a fan of the 80s. I'm a closet 80s fan and while at time

I hide my love for the decade to my friends and associates, I'm proud to be a fan of it's music, excellent cartoons and everything else. This song rocks and so does 1985.

  • The 80's had a ton of "unisex" toons, like Rainbow Brite, My Little Pony (only the dolls were girly), and even Jem. Stuff that you think would be only for girls, but when you watch it, it's really for everyone, with lots of action and stuff, so guys watching it don't feel weird at all.

  • Do u have any dvds or anything with rainbow brite 2 sell? My mom is a HUGE, MEGA FAN!!! I want 2 get her something special 4 christmas or her next birthday.

  • Interesting enough, there are alot of theme songs from the 80s that sound like a metrosexual man is singing them.

  • "jem" had a ton of male fans (me inculded)...allthough alot of us never admitted it

  • i toatlly understand that, which is why they ncluded Krys and On-X, a black robot horse, in the movie.

  • On-X is awesome

  • @Rhiorrha

All the guys in my second grade class watched Rainbow Brite.

Only the toys were for girls.

Have any of you seen the Beginning of Rainbowland? The whole world is jacked up!!!

  • Hell, I have the whole series on dvd. Yeah, Wisp had her work cut out for her. Rainbowland was a seriously dark and threatening place, even by today's standards.

  • This song brings a warm feeling to the heart.

  • I love this song. I'm so glad you posted it. Thank You!

  • Rainbow brite was the 80's Sailor Moon!! MUCH LOVE!

  • They just don't make stuff like this for kids anymore. Cartoons are either lace with over top violence, sick comedy, sexual inuwindow, and political propaganda. What happened to just fun cartoons without the nonsense.

  • exactly.

  • @xxashyy I know you made this comment a year ago. But you know you just described every cartoon ever made right back to the good 'ole Steamboat Mickey features?

  • And I feel like I´m 8 years old all over again *sigh*

  • I love this song... makes me wanna watch the movie again!

  • this is actually a catchy song!

  • OMG!!!!! I never though I would here this song ever aging!! It seriously makes me cry! hahahah I LOVE this cute song!

Do you have this song on a MP3 file?! Please if you do please send it to me! haha xx

  • I used to make my mom rent this movie for me like every few weeks when I was little. I would alternate between this movie, Popples, and Care Bears and no matter how many times I watched a certain video or movie, I never got tired of it.

  • They don't make movies like these anymore it's sad

  • im 26 years old and still love this song!

  • I have the DVD, pretty awesome

  • Rainbow?

    ....youtube is freakin' amazing.

  • Indeed, indeed...

  • No matter how many time I listen to this song I never get tired of it.

  • This used to be one of my all time favorite songs!

I loved Rainbow Brite (still like it).

    -Amanda

  • the animation in the film is epic ^_^

  • This makes me squeal. ^_^

  • OMG!! i just had a birthday and am now officially older than dirt; but, i still LOVE this song! it rocks my socks. it is super special awesome!! :)

  • I can't listen to this without smiling BIG! Thanks for posting

  • Oh man so many memories I am such a Rainbow Brite nut XD

  • I love this song!

  • I remember this one and I have to video recorded from tv copies and Im surprise that the audio on one of them is still go

  • Bring a shining light to every face It shines for all to see It'll make the world a brighter place Rainbow Brite and me When you dream of distant stars And open up your eyes A light comes shining from afar That lets you reach the skies Places that you thought were dreamlands Turn from dreamlands to believelands When you take a helping hand Making brand new friends Rainbow brite & me
  • is this movie on dvd my niese really wants this movie

  • Yeah it is where to find I do not know but I do know it is.

  • The audio bends in the same places as my old VHS copied from the original rental release. I love it so much!!! And I love this movie. ^_^

  • It seems that the "pitch bend" at 0:24 was actually an error in the original video master. I've compared the MP3 online, it's in the exact same place!

  • It's not in the mp3 I provide to people who request it. And yeah, vhs cassettes do that after a few years if you repeatedly watch the same scene.

  • I've noticed that on "See & Sing" there is also a pitch bend for about 0.1 seconds in the I'm a Little Teapot song right before the fifth time they sing, "Pour me out I'm hot."

  • omg !!! I loved this cartoon SOOOOO MUCH <3 we still have the casette lol

  • oh thank you for this!it reminds me so much from my childhood!

  • Thx for posting this song. I have the movie but the end credits were cut short as a different movie was taped over them. I only heard the first line or two & that was it. SOOOO annoying for the longest time. <3 the show to the end. Still wish they made more than 13 episodes.

  • I've noticed that the downloadable mp3 of this song is 40 cents higher and has a faster tempo.

  • Yeah, I think that's my fault. I believe I ripped the original MP3 and uploaded it to a bunch of FTP sites around 1999 - at least, there were no copies I could find back then. Thing is, the recording was done from a 13-year-old BetaMax tape onto an Onkyo cassette deck, and then onto the computer a year or so later. The Onkyo's playback is fast - every single recording I've made from it is about 40 cents higher. Funny that it'd make it all the way around the web.

  • I think there's a fansite with this MP3 on it, I can't remember the address, though.

  • Yup yup

  • OMG I miss this show, I'm so glad I'm not the only person who remember's Rainbow Brite!~~!!!!!!

  • This stupid song has been stuck in the back of my mind since I was like 6 (which was back in 1986, so you know). It keeps resurfacing in the WEIRDEST moments! job interviews, horror films, even while listening to punk rock (which makes for a strange remix in my head). Of all my child-hood memories, this dang song is the only thing to last perpetually. so strange

  • Ahh. The memories

  • Bettina Bush is frikking HOT! She was the voice for Rainbow Brite and sung the ending credits as well.

  • this was my favorite show growing up and i still love it

  • thanks for posting this song :)

  • Can someone please post this movie...pleazzz

  • I love this so much...I feel both old and young when I hear this.

  • Those keyboards sound like the very first Korg keyboards.

  • How I miss being a kid and listening to things like this. Its so cute and so girlie! I love it! :)

  • that actually was a good movie

  • tell that to the critics. they saw it as nothing more than a ploy to sell toys

  • This brings back wonderful childhood memories. I still love rainbow brite!
