@spirittammyk Hell yes. The old-school VA's got around, doing WILDLY dissimilar voices for multiple cartoons...unlike today's VA's who pretty much just do the same voice for different shows, ala Lorenzo Music (RIP).
@Rhiorrha So true. Another personal favorite of mine is Rob Paulsen, who voiced the 80's cartoon version of Raphael in TMNT. He's returning to TMNT, but he'll be voicing Donatello this time.
Has anyone seen the montage video set to Freedom Call's Land of the Light? Its a total mindfuck how well a power metal song works for a Rainbow Brite video, at least I thought so.
This song is crazy catchy. Every now and again it used to pop up in my head. This was since i was like 7ish. Kinda flashbacks me back to my childhood. And now i finally learned the words to it (somewhat). LOL. Nice upload.
@ antgto I just commented on the other video about how I used to get picked on for liking Rainbow Brite and saying they can all go to Hell now. So you should tell your friends the same thing.
Actually, it did. The whole series dvd set was released and sold on Amazon for 12 bucks in 2006. I snatched it when I saw it. It was released by a small distribution company called Popcorn Films that was working with DIC/Cookie Jar, and went rogue with their IPs (such as releasing RB on dvd without permission) and getting in trouble for it. It's still for sale, just more expensive now (30 bucks instead of 11.99), and not direct from Popcorn anymore. Go for it. 3 boxes left.
This song and the ending song for The Care Bears II movie made me feel happy and so special as a child. Now, it makes me feel like a wierdo for liking both of these songs.
I watcd this when I was ten. And I know I was a boy then and I'm grown man now, but I like this song. Guilty. I like Rainbowbrite. My sister is seven now and someday I hope to get a chance to introduce this to her.
maaaaan.. T_T I seriously got a tear in my eye.. So glad I found this! D': ..I even had a cute blue backpack with Rainbowbrite and starlight on it. I feel bad for the kids these days.. whats worse.. I feel horrible for my (yet to be born) children.
I do believe that they didn't make enough of this cartoon. Sometimes I think that this is one of the cartoons they should have made at least 5 seasons of .
@Rhiorrha You're HONESTLY telling me you don't hear the SLIGHTEST similarity between the 2 songs? C'mon, now....I'll admit I was just exaggerating with my first comment (I don't actually believe the song's creator intentionally ripped off MJ's song), but you gotta admit this song sounds like a slower, higher-pitch version of SYBDTTG in the first couple of seconds (and from 0:40 to 0:44). The beat and the notes in those parts, are very similar to the other song
@FGwriter my sister also brought this point up a few years back, when we were talking about this song. we both love this song (and we saw the movie when it came out) and my sister said, "part of that song sounds like the jacksons!" i had to laugh, because it really DOES sound like 'shake your body down'...
@kwadruple Read my other comment I posted. After that, listen to the part from 0:40 to 0:44 like I pointed out in that comment, then listen to 'Shake Your Body'. If you're honestly saying you can't hear any similarity AT ALL between the two, then I think it's pretty obvious who's deaf
If you don't think it sounds THAT similar, that's one thing (that's your opinion). But to say they sound 'completely different'? C'mon now.
@kwadruple In my 2nd comment, I said that my 1st comment was a joking exaggeration; I even said 'LOL' at the end. If I had known there were such serious defenders of the originality of a cartoon song for kids on YouTube, I would have been more accurate with my 1st comment. Let me now correct that mistake:
ATTENTION EVERYONE: I personally believe that the part from 0:40 to 0:44 sounds similar to 'Shake Your Body' by the Jacksons. This is my opinion that you may or may not agree with.
@kwadruple This song didn't rip off that MJ song one bit. But I gotta admit that "Sonegaly" by Tarika (from the Putumayo CD album "Islands") does sound quite like a super-slow version of SYBDTTG.
@FGwriter Honestly i dont see where you see the rip off between this song that Jackson´s 5 one, maybe some riffs sound a little smilar, now if you really want to hear a trully musical rip off, just compare MC Hammer song "U cant touch this" with Rick James song "Super Freak" now that´s a trully rip off >XD
How did I end up here??? Who the hell is 'Rainbow Brite???' But-it's a damn catchy tune...lol. Rainbow Brite is coming to get u-I can see death by glitter!!! Joking-I know I won't be able to get this out of my head 4 the next week,month,year...lol!!!
I'm a fan of voice acting (and a guy. not ashamed to admit I watched this show growing up). I was watching Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children when it came out a few years back and couldn't place that name when is came up in the credits. She voiced Elena of the Turks in that movie. Kinda neat that a VA in the business that long could peice together a fandom of my present to one of my youth.
MAN i remember watching this when i was young, probably under the influence of my older sister lol but yeah oldies but goodies. this is great stuff bring back memories
Wow, just wow! I remember when I saw this in the theater and having a crush on Rainbow Brite. My God, it's been 24 years!!! It's safe to say, those were the days.
There shouldn't be anything wrong with being a fan of the 80s. I'm a closet 80s fan and while at time
I hide my love for the decade to my friends and associates, I'm proud to be a fan of it's music, excellent cartoons and everything else. This song rocks and so does 1985.
The 80's had a ton of "unisex" toons, like Rainbow Brite, My Little Pony (only the dolls were girly), and even Jem. Stuff that you think would be only for girls, but when you watch it, it's really for everyone, with lots of action and stuff, so guys watching it don't feel weird at all.
Do u have any dvds or anything with rainbow brite 2 sell? My mom is a HUGE, MEGA FAN!!! I want 2 get her something special 4 christmas or her next birthday.
Hell, I have the whole series on dvd. Yeah, Wisp had her work cut out for her. Rainbowland was a seriously dark and threatening place, even by today's standards.
They just don't make stuff like this for kids anymore. Cartoons are either lace with over top violence, sick comedy, sexual inuwindow, and political propaganda. What happened to just fun cartoons without the nonsense.
@xxashyy I know you made this comment a year ago. But you know you just described every cartoon ever made right back to the good 'ole Steamboat Mickey features?
I used to make my mom rent this movie for me like every few weeks when I was little. I would alternate between this movie, Popples, and Care Bears and no matter how many times I watched a certain video or movie, I never got tired of it.
Bring a shining light to every face It shines for all to see It'll make the world a brighter place Rainbow Brite and me When you dream of distant stars And open up your eyes A light comes shining from afar That lets you reach the skies Places that you thought were dreamlands Turn from dreamlands to believelands When you take a helping hand Making brand new friends Rainbow brite & me
It seems that the "pitch bend" at 0:24 was actually an error in the original video master. I've compared the MP3 online, it's in the exact same place!
I've noticed that on "See & Sing" there is also a pitch bend for about 0.1 seconds in the I'm a Little Teapot song right before the fifth time they sing, "Pour me out I'm hot."
Thx for posting this song. I have the movie but the end credits were cut short as a different movie was taped over them. I only heard the first line or two & that was it. SOOOO annoying for the longest time. <3 the show to the end. Still wish they made more than 13 episodes.
Yeah, I think that's my fault. I believe I ripped the original MP3 and uploaded it to a bunch of FTP sites around 1999 - at least, there were no copies I could find back then. Thing is, the recording was done from a 13-year-old BetaMax tape onto an Onkyo cassette deck, and then onto the computer a year or so later. The Onkyo's playback is fast - every single recording I've made from it is about 40 cents higher. Funny that it'd make it all the way around the web.
This stupid song has been stuck in the back of my mind since I was like 6 (which was back in 1986, so you know). It keeps resurfacing in the WEIRDEST moments! job interviews, horror films, even while listening to punk rock (which makes for a strange remix in my head). Of all my child-hood memories, this dang song is the only thing to last perpetually. so strange
Oh, if one was to pay attention to the credits, Optimus Prime from Transformers does several voice overs, including Murky!

I've noticed that the downloadable mp3 of this song is 40 cents higher and has a faster tempo.

I think there's a fansite with this MP3 on it, I can't remember the address, though.

This stupid song has been stuck in the back of my mind since I was like 6 (which was back in 1986, so you know). It keeps resurfacing in the WEIRDEST moments! job interviews, horror films, even while listening to punk rock (which makes for a strange remix in my head). Of all my child-hood memories, this dang song is the only thing to last perpetually. so strange
