  • Great videos ! Thanks a lot

  • love your videos!!

  • seriously, y do u repeat ur sentences? ppl can always pause and replay ur vid..=_=

  • Guys, seriously. She's making these to help actors who need to do the thick stereotypical accent for an audition or part. Why else would you need it?

  • I can't find my pencil.

  • i think i have a chicago accent ._. i pronounce o's and a's weird

  • @ShadowMaskTheCat yeah im from chicago too and when i go to different states they make fun of me lol

  • @kgirl1306 i live in indy but the rest of my family live in illinois. ive been around them so much that i talk like them ^^

  • she isn't saying grab bag, she pronounces it as grob bog

  • This woman is full of crap - she has little idea as to what she'd talking about, and is she is a NYC native something is wrong, I'd say there is NO way she is.

  • talk like this in new york, your gonna get stabbed.

  • hahaha i lived in ny my whole life this is not a ny accent at all lol

  • Ha! I didnt write it down... :))

  • the baeg thing is more midwestern...

  • Thankyou for your help. Im prepping for an audition right now and as an actor i understand over placing to feel the location of the tongue making the sounds...then just making it more conversational..so everyone calm down. Thank you.

  • if you chicago'd when you shouldve blooklyned your gonna have a bad time

  • @ruler2nutin love you

  • That's not a New York accent, that's a white accent.

  • csp20, I suggest you go back to the 4th grade. Dialects are the same thing as accents chief. She's a very good dialect instructor.

  • @mxvet37 Dialect and accent are not the same thing. Dialect is a way of speaking a language in a specific regional area or group, while accent is about the way you pronounce the words. Like speaking English in a foreign accent.

  • ya'll R dum

  • greab a paper

  • thanks for the help :D

  • @NikiRyRyRyderx26 GRAB YOUR PIECE OF PAPER! YOU NEED TO STUDY IT!

  • @MarsBar1996

    Hahahaha

  • grayab bayag.

  • not like i cant replay it 1:50

  • Most people can just imitate if they really want to, e.g. comedians. Faking an accent for any reason other than comedy makes you fake, and cheesy.

  • people don't you understand, she's not teaching you this so you can go to the mall in new york and start talking like this, she is trying to teach actors. In the opcoming play im in, guys and dolls the character im auditioning for has a really heavy new york dialect. So people with comments saying she is wrong she's not!! people may not talk like that all the time in new york but its a great acting one

  • GREYEB BEYYGGE

  • I love this accent!!! like really

  • u country woman... dont u understand u aint from new york... so stop trying

    YANKEES ALL DAY

  • GREAB BEAG

  • she sounds jerzy or boston...def not NY

  • nyeh

    BROOKLYN RAGE

  • every1 who thinks it good is crazy.. imm a long islander myy wholee lifee baby and shes WRONG

  • @missthing5197 ikr! I come from the same place, I know ONE person with that accent, and shes from montauk.

  • when i moved to dallas one year in my youth i had a carried over ny accent from childhood,i wasn t ashamed tthat everybody knew where i was originally from ,but proud

  • She's a little to Jersey, but for most purposes this is perfectly good.

  • she was spot on in this video...others not so much...

she still didn't do the accent right, but she had the idea.

  • I have no idea why so many New Yorkers think these videos on New York accents are insulting... Just about everyone has an accent, shouldn't New Yorkers be proud of their accent if New York is such a great place?

  • New Yorkers are indeed proud of their accent, and that's exactly why they're "insulted." The reason they're angry is that she gets it wrong almost every time. I say "almost every time" because this is the first clip I've seen where she gets it right. Well, she has the rule right, but her execution is still poor.

  • "e-r , e-r " :D:D:D

  • If all of you think this sucks so bad get off you butt and make your own frieken video!!! If your to lazy to make your own stop complaining! just don't watch this video~!

  • Maybe she should make a video on how to do a a southern accent, im not being mean but it would be easier for her and she would actually be teaching stuff that sounds normal, and not over exaggerated. I mean Exaggeoiated, lol

  • IMHO I think it's not that bad. For non-native english speakers (like me), over exaggeration is a blessing. For example, if u were learning a french or spanish dialect, believe me, you'll pray for over exaggeration. I've looked at other videos trying to understand the differences between accents, and these are the best ones because they point those differences out pretty clear.

Pehaps she should pronounce the "normal" way when giving the examples.

  • OMG look wot it sez in the comments - she has a masters in this crap?! :D

  • in the description, were in the comments.

  • shes right i live in ny and we say crAEb BUTTT we say grAvel not grAEvel so she is right

  • i need to make a video on how to talk like a redneck

  • lol :D

  • im gonna wawk my dawg whal i drink my caw-fee

  • Last time I checked, I'm English and therefore speak English with an actual English accent. You're the moron here. Accents are about pronunciation, which is what this video concerns, and dialects are the different ways in which people use words, such as an American dialect using the word "sidewalk" as opposed to English dialect using the word "pavement". Now go back and repeat 4th grade before you make anymore stupid comments.

  • @csp20 Dialect is a regional version of an accent, what you are thinking of is idiom and diction, please just get some things right before being self-righteous

  • Comment removed

  • do u guys have like an issue or somtin? she's just trying 2 b helpful. It's certainly better than my ny accent. btw if ur from new york y r u watching this? enoff with that pretendin' (!)

  • have you ever been to new york ...."No they dont let nut jobs through the border" she said

  • if expert village is paying you to teach authentic New York and you've obviously never been there, I might as well get a job for E.V. teaching about Chinese, since I've never learned it at all either.

  • well I have lived in many places in New York and New Jersey and there is a little descrepetny but uh we sorta talk like this but uh she is kinda off... she should really visit and see how people actually talk

  • She is clearly pulling everyone's legs. How can one learn to speak with an accent like this. ha ha. rotfl

  • y r u watching it then???

  • You are a great teacher. I am preparing the audition for new yorker! It reallt helps me now. THank you so much.

I like your sophisticated voice and everything~ :)

  • if yer dont spik wid de new yarck dialect, yer gonna be sleepin wid der fishes ad der boddom orv der hudson
