  • the first rock concert I ever saw was Bowie at the Boston Garden, St. Patrick's day 1975. I was 15.He had just morphed from Ziggy Stardust to the Thin White Duke.Young Americans, which he was touring for,is one of the best-produced pieces of vinyl ever created..Reeves Gabrels, Bowie's longtime guitarist, is a genius in his own right. Bowie's decision to invite Billy Corgan to share the stage with him for 2 songs at this concert speaks for itself..And lets hope Bowie releases new material soon!!

  • Man, David Bowie is a lucky guy to share a stage with the rock god Billy Corgan

  • @FollowersofDamu You need to flip the order of that comment! Bowie is a legend. I would hardly call the Pumpkins legends.

  • @kb1g You're right, The Smashing Pumpkins are not legends - They're GODS

  • I've known about David Bowie for a LONG time. I've known of his music, and his face, but never his name. But I've known about him for about... Since about last year. Early last year. :)

  • I WAS 19-YEARS-OLD then and I'm in the front row of the pit here with my darling friend! :-)

  • @tarynactress you lucky!

  • Everyone is bald headed except for Bowie, Loving this video btw.

  • BOWIE AND BILLY!!!! My 2 ROCK HEROES! That is just amazing....Nothing can beat that, i love them! I must be in heaven.

  • Billy looks so proud to be there...it is so sweet. They are both talented musicians and clearly have a mutual respect for one another and a genuine love of music. Bowie is of cores the father of rock and role, but they are both the cat’s whiskers.

  • This too Fucking much, The Kings of music, Corgan and Bowie. Now i can die.

  • I think Green Day ripped off the chorus from this song to their 21 Guns song. Maybe not a ripoff, but very similar.

  • @lemonscure oasis' song stand by me is the bigger rip off of this song...

  • Pretty hot heavy stuff. Love love love it.

  • Bowie + Corgan = heaven.

  • Incredible!

  • That is utter crap ! long live the MOTT !!!

  • @MrMeadfoot without this song and Bowie there would be no Mott!

  • @MrMeadfoot The most wonderful about the song is the lyrics, which Bowie wrote. There have been so many different covers anyway.

  • @MrMeadfoot Bowie wrote the song and produced the Mott the Hoople, the song was a gift that gave the hoople its 15 minutes, you knowledgeless pogue

  • Too bad Ian Hunter wasn't up there with Bowie instead.

  • Two of my favourite musicians together. I didn't even realise there was a video available for this.

  • db...the coolest cat in all of rock n roll.......I did security detail for his gig at a casino here in the states on his last tour ( Reality ) and he is as cool and charming and funny off stage as he is on...

    He is simply, The Man!

  • i have never seen a man kick that high!

  • @InLovewithMick He has extremely long arms and legs with thighs like a soccer player. Always in fantastic condition due to his life long use of boxing to stay in tip top physical shape.

He really is "just a young dude" ;)

  • Ratings for this video (666 total)

    haha, nice

  • @kafor1999 Thats just what i was thinking mate

  • @kafor1999 my guess is that you are born 1999.. smashing pumpkins is one of the biggest bands the last 20 years..

  • @kafor1999 Billy Corgan is a fucking rock legend. Have you never heard of The Smashing Pumpkins?

  • @mercurymadhatter

I think David was more popular than the wonderful Billy Corgan. Have you never seen David in like the 60s or 70s or 80s? :)))) Don't get me wrong! I love both David and Billy!

  • @kafor1999 you suck

  • Awww Billy looks so nervous 0:56 XD It's ok because Corgan is a freaking legend!

  • @DX4LIFFE yeah, Billy was really excited to play with his idol !!!...man, i wish someday it could happen to me!!!

  • Ive never been religious, but I do worship at the altar of Bowie

  • Awesome!

  • Must've been awesome to be there and does anyone know if this gig is available on dvd anywhere?

  • wonderful wonderful stuff. Whoever posted this thank you from the very northernmost tip of Scotland.

  • That's a pretty cool coat or whatever Bowie's wearing. Think Jean Genie portion was better than All the Young Dudes.

  • Two of my favorite guys singing two of my favorite Bowie songs. ::LOVE::

  • David sings like proper english man. Billy sings like he's from the midwest. get off their backs, i don't see any of you being legends on stage.

    David

  • billy cannot sing to save his life :(

True. Corgan wouldn' t be standing there if it hadn' t been for Bowie. But I do like the Smashing Pumpkins.

  • totally agree

  • ya this is totally awsome

  • i think we all know the beginning lyrics

  • Well Billy rapped all night about his suicide how he kick it in the head when he was twentyfive Speed jive don't wanna stay alive when you're twenty-five And Wendy's stealing clothes from Marks and Sparks and Freddy's got spots from ripping off the stars from his face Funky little boat race And Television man is crazy saying we're juvenile deliquent wrecks Oh man I need TV when I got T Rex Oh brother you guessed I'm a dude dad All the young dudes Carry the news Boogaloo dudes Carry the news

  • david bowie is 63 yrs old now

  • Not quite. He is 63 in 8 days:-)

  • they are great together

  • i'm amazed :D

  • Thanks-Where did Corgan and Bowie perform this gem? Corgan has really been marginalised in the last ten years.I hung out and spoke to him one on one at a bar called Marais abt 11-12 yrs ago..He HOWLED when I told him that there were girls camped in tents at Virgin Records Boston blocks away to see him the next day.. Glad Bowie got him-what a set of pipes!

  • this was at the bowie 50th birthday concert in NYC at madisson square garden.

  • Sexy.

  • This version of this song blows me away...EVERY time.

    <3 xo

  • Yeah, this is totally genius! Totally unbelievable brilliance.

  • A legend of the '70s with a legend of the '90s!

  • David, I'm your eternal fan since 1979........

David, David, David ....only you !

    Your French woman Fan.

    Anna

  • Practically everyone on that list of guest performers is amazing. Just shows how Bowie has influenced everyone on the right side of alternative.

  • ....Man, I dont need TV when I got T-Rex...

  • I stumbled upon this today and boy is it fantastic!

  • love the song/

  • Best All the Young Dudes Live I've ever seen !! They both are GREAT !! 5 Stars 4 KICK ASS singers n' AWESOME song. They are LEGEND LOL !!

  • I love this video!! I've seen Bowie in concert many times over the years, starting around 1977 and he is always amazing. I even saw him a few years ago and he was still great. Thanks for posting this!!!!

  • Billy, Billy, Billy!

  • Hmmm... pretty close to 21 guns... I dont think it was THAT close to where green day was almost sewed... I claim that as a rumor...

  • i love both artists but to say corgan is better than bowie you must have just seen your own arse hole ya knob end.

  • You are comparing apples and oranges. meanwhile, the orange was influenced by the apple while the apple calls himself one of the orange's biggest fans. How can one be better than the other?

  • @Nedzorz1 love appels+oranjes (if you are smashing pumpkins fan you know what it is probs)

  • @Nedzorz1

    It just can.

  • Billy Courgan greater than Bowie??? You must be on crack!

  • No, sorry I`m not but it`s true; Billy Corgan is much greater! ;)

  • Try to claim that again in 20 years time. Nobody will know who Billy Corgan is, but Bowie will still be held in high esteem. Probably, even higher than today.

  • I`ll talk to you in 20 years! ;)

  • haha, that is a deal:-)

  • highly doubtful....billy and the pumpkins will be rock legends in 20 years...song for song...billys one of the best song writers since the john and paul...read a fucking book for once :p

  • If you had any knowledge about books, you would have known from my name that I read more than most people.

  • I do read books but no matter what i still feel like a stranger in a strange land

  • billy has had 4 years of good creativity

  • you´re not up to date.

  • Id like to see the day Bowie gos on for a pumpkin show.. Bowie is the Legend here. 1979 was great song BUT Bowie people is Bowie.

  • smashing pumpkings rulez

  • It's awesome to see Bowie dressed like this in his later years. I was afraid he'd lost his individuality in the world of celebrity.

  • When Mott turned down Suffragete City, Bowie hadn't written it yet. He wrote as a replacement just for them. He ended up jacking it back after it got so big. Amazing song though... I'd want credit for it too.

  • What do you mean by "jacking it back"? It was never a secret that he wrote it.

  • A lot of young kids don"t know that Mott The Hoople turned down Suffragete City from Bowie because they wanted to record this instead

  • Bowie still has great pipes at his age -remarkable talent; Ziggy Stardust album is def in top 5.

  • sorry it was 2005 billy did his solo album, typo.

  • As close as Bowie has ever come to Ziggy in his later years - the hair, the clothes, the song choice. Kinda neat.

  • best bowie songs ever

  • whatever happened to billy corgan, anyways?

  • this was recorded in 97.... Pumpkins split in 2000, billy released 1 cd as another band called 'zwan' - after which in 2003 he released a solo album called 'the future embrace' and a book of poetry called 'blinking with fists'

the pumpkins reformed in 07, little commercial success but corgan still holds a dedicated fanbase... just dont expect to hear of him in mainstream media

  • he shaved his head went solo and died on the inside

  • Wow!! Biwie went back to his Ziggy Stardust personae to perform that song; which he morphed from in '75 to become the Thin White Duke-at the old Boston Garden for the Young Americans tour..I met Corgan in a Boston bar abt 12yrs ago when Pumkins were on top. He had NO IDEA girls were sleeping in tents on the sidewalk in front of Tower recs just to meet him and get an autograph! He was genuine and attentive-how refreshing! And, his pipes are some of the best in the industry-Like an animal!

  • A Band Called Bert

  • bowie's short spiky orange hair singing the Jean Genie, feels like 1973 all over again

  • f u

  • Corgan is GOD! (not good if you though i had dyslexia) He's inspired me more than anyone else...

I heard Bowie and Corgan together this morning, so beautiful-- brought tears to my eyes XD.

  • .so good.

  • lol at the beggining when billy corgan sings different lyrics david bowie looks like he's thinking "yeah that'll work it sounds alright"

  • i love his outfit.

  • Billy Corgan and David Bowie together.

I think Im going to faint...

  • I'm in love with Bowies voice in "Dudes". Love the "teenage-feeling" in it. He is amazing to take on diffrent sounds!

  • Yeah, noticed that too, and I loved it too. =)

  • Y'know what? My thoughts exactly!

  • I agree that Billy Corgan is not the songwriter Bowie is, or anywhere near his league, but the Pumpkins are an ok band in my opinion, the few good tunes they have are fairly well written musically

  • ? Corgan is an excellent songwriter. There's no need to compare. They're both great and do their own thing.

  • what crap he does'nt desreve to stand on the same stage as bowie

  • billie is the master of cool

this is a grand gesture from the dark lord

  • Fuck I love the intro riff on the guitar its so amazing.

  • Bowie is amazing by himself... Corgan is amazing by himself... together it is purely indescribable

  • Is there concrete all around-or is it in my head?

  • two of rocks most talented artists on one stage. "an i jizz-in-my pants"
