I think this a cleaner, more proffesional version of the original. The original was done by a group of high schoolers in Buffalo N. Y. as a theme song for a top DJ. by the name of Tommy Shannon. The musicians here are much more seasoned plus the equipment is more modern.
@baazooka86 I agree that is a cleaner version, but I think the earlier versions are still better. The song is about rebellion and such, and I think the rawness of the song helps express that.
It still sounds true to their original release after all of these years. It's a little more 'raw' than the Rockin' Rebels version, but equally as good.
My friend and I went to the Preston town hall, where they performed regularly....
Henri Bource was fantastic on the sax....Instrumentals were very popular back then.
The Allen Brothers were there one night and we had a chat to Peter Allen....nice guy.
There was another band there most nights with a great sound, but I can't think of their name..
They had a couple of hits....The Comanches maybe? Does anyone remember?

It's good to hear this song again. I lost track of it over the years. Good memories and better times.

@craigswoodle I like the earlier version also. I grew up with it and it's more familiar.

@baazooka86 The Thunderbirds put a layer of gloss on this song that gives it a bit more depth and it's very much appreciated, dammit.

@Darthbelal Geeez. Why so angry? Both songs are good, just different in sound and style.
