@yamahonkawazuki they are not making any more. they spent MILLIONS over the course of 10 years developing this car. they may put the technologies they used in building this car to build other more cost effective cars, but thats hearsay.
the engine is not much of a pavement pounder either.... 480hp/280tq at the wheels, a GT-R is faster and 2/3 the price.

As for the GT-R's GR6 tranny, the issue has been fixed after so many complaints when the car first came out and people using launch control left and right.
@yamahonkawazuki The 2011/2012 GT-R GR6 has been upgraded to withstand the abuse that so many people put on the car that there have been NO reports of early failure. The tranny can hold up to about 7-800hp no problem before the transmission needs stronger internals and thicker clutch plates.
Even then, theres quite a few transmission shops that make stronger internals that its no longer a problem.
@yamahonkawazuki AMS with their Alpha 12 spec GT-R is putting down about 1200hp on the transmission as it has been built to withstand the punishment of using launch control with slicks and repeated 190+ mph blasts

It's not bad, but they could've done better. That's all I can say about the LFA. The 458 Italia will match it in performance and boast better looks and a lower price tag, while the F70 will flat out destroy it. At least the GT-R has price going for it....

Also, to the people jealous of Lexus and don't know about JDM Toyotas, they are some of the coolest cars you can buy with some of the most advanced electronics and technology in the world. People who are jealous of Lexus try to associate Lexus with Toyota in a bad way but Lexus owners love Toyota, especially JDM Toyotas, and have no problem whatsoever with the association. I suggest the people jealous of Lexus look up some of the JDM history.
It's a Toyota. I associate Lexus with Toyota. They will have a hard time loosing this image with most people - one of the reasons why Lexus doesn't do well in markets where people care about prestige and status. Acura and Infiniti products are nothing more than rebadged Honda's and Nissan's respectively. The funny thing is I find Acura and Infiniti much cooler than Lexus. They are not as pretentious and fake as Lexus is.
I would have no zero problems with Lexus - if their stupid fanboys didn't overrate them all the time. Let's be honest here, compared to the history of its rivals, Lexus is a pretty boring and pathetic wannabe luxury brand that started out as rebadged Toyotas. That's a permanent stain on their brand prestige IMO which is lower than that of their rivals if you ask me.

But the Lexus brand isn't some kind of ploy to sell Toyotas. When the Japanese finally learned how to build nice cars, they still needed some way to sell them at a premium price that they demanded, otherwise the companies would operate at a loss. Hence rebadged brands like Lexus, Accura, Infinity.

If I was basing my purchase solely on performance and price, yes, I would buy the ZR1. But if I wanted something more exclusive and better quality, I'd buy the LF-A.
What I'm saying is, they're not selling the same old cars with a new name and charging us three times more. These cars are actually really nice but they needed a new image to get people to rethink them. Ever owned one? They're nice.
I will, however, agree with you that the LF-A is over-priced in terms of performance. But some people argue that the price associated with this car is due to the amount of R&D that went into it. But my answer to that is... so what? That's not OUR problem.
I never owned a Lexus but I did drive an original LS400 once. It was quiet and refined but other than that I didn't see the appeal. The interior was dirt cheap to me with plastic all over the place and the leather already had cracks (drove this car in 2001). I didn't see the "vaunted Lexus quality" in this car - and the person who owned it takes care of all his cars too. Besides, Lexus shamelessly copied the philosophy of their competitors - how unoriginal. To me Lexus is bland and pretentious.
Well, the interior has improved drastically. Although the IS350 I've been in did have lots of plastic parts, but no more than in an A4 or M3 for example.
By the same token, my uncle had a 2002 W210, which he said was "over-priced". After dealing with several mechanical issues, he got rid of it.
The moral of the story is, everybody has an opinion, which is shaped by personal experiences. But still, Lexus is not your ordinary Toyota.. no less than a ZO6 is your ordinary Chevy.
My main problem with Lexus is that they are so OVERRATED. I keep hearing how the current IS has such a "good interior" and all that BS. In fact I find Lexus interiors incredibly overrated. They're not cheap but they're far from the "perfection" they are made out to be by dumbass Lexus fanboys. In fact several competitor cars have far better interiors if you ask me from a material and styling POV. Lexus cabins lack elegance because they lack a simplistic design attribute: "Less is more".
Actually the IS's interior has an extremely minimalistic approach. It's not elegant, but neither is the interior of an Enzo. Of course the IS is no Enzo but the point is, different cars must be measured with a different measuring stick.
But all in all I didn't care much for the interior of the IS honestly.
And who cares about those fanboys? Every car has its fanboys crying out for attention, as if they themselves built the darn thing lol.
You've gotta be kidding me right? Toyota is fucking Lexus like Honda is to Acura and Ford to Licoln. They are just the luxury divisions of each brand. Most of them carry the same components. You can service your at either dealership.

It's not bad, but they could've done better. That's all I can say about the LFA. The 458 Italia will match it in performance and boast better looks and a lower price tag, while the F70 will flat out destroy it. At least the GT-R has price going for it....

A few things. 1) I hate the Bugatti Veyron, Newer Ferraris, and Lamborghinis. 2) It's about the exhaust note. The cars you listed do not make and sound close to that. This sounds like a blender, the above have a deep exhaust note that is sexy. 4) You're right, it's not a Civic with a huge wing; it's a Civic with a huge wing, a big engine, and three big fart-cannons

Also, to the people jealous of Lexus and don't know about JDM Toyotas, they are some of the coolest cars you can buy with some of the most advanced electronics and technology in the world. People who are jealous of Lexus try to associate Lexus with Toyota in a bad way but Lexus owners love Toyota, especially JDM Toyotas, and have no problem whatsoever with the association. I suggest the people jealous of Lexus look up some of the JDM history.

It's a Toyota. I associate Lexus with Toyota. They will have a hard time loosing this image with most people - one of the reasons why Lexus doesn't do well in markets where people care about prestige and status. Acura and Infiniti products are nothing more than rebadged Honda's and Nissan's respectively. The funny thing is I find Acura and Infiniti much cooler than Lexus. They are not as pretentious and fake as Lexus is.

I would have no zero problems with Lexus - if their stupid fanboys didn't overrate them all the time. Let's be honest here, compared to the history of its rivals, Lexus is a pretty boring and pathetic wannabe luxury brand that started out as rebadged Toyotas. That's a permanent stain on their brand prestige IMO which is lower than that of their rivals if you ask me.
I would gladly buy a ZO6 over this overpriced Celica any day by the way. $350,000 for a Toyota? No thanks.

But the Lexus brand isn't some kind of ploy to sell Toyotas. When the Japanese finally learned how to build nice cars, they still needed some way to sell them at a premium price that they demanded, otherwise the companies would operate at a loss. Hence rebadged brands like Lexus, Accura, Infinity.

If I was basing my purchase solely on performance and price, yes, I would buy the ZR1. But if I wanted something more exclusive and better quality, I'd buy the LF-A.

What I'm saying is, they're not selling the same old cars with a new name and charging us three times more. These cars are actually really nice but they needed a new image to get people to rethink them. Ever owned one? They're nice.
I will, however, agree with you that the LF-A is over-priced in terms of performance. But some people argue that the price associated with this car is due to the amount of R&D that went into it. But my answer to that is... so what? That's not OUR problem.

I never owned a Lexus but I did drive an original LS400 once. It was quiet and refined but other than that I didn't see the appeal. The interior was dirt cheap to me with plastic all over the place and the leather already had cracks (drove this car in 2001). I didn't see the "vaunted Lexus quality" in this car - and the person who owned it takes care of all his cars too. Besides, Lexus shamelessly copied the philosophy of their competitors - how unoriginal. To me Lexus is bland and pretentious.

Well, the interior has improved drastically. Although the IS350 I've been in did have lots of plastic parts, but no more than in an A4 or M3 for example.
By the same token, my uncle had a 2002 W210, which he said was "over-priced". After dealing with several mechanical issues, he got rid of it.
The moral of the story is, everybody has an opinion, which is shaped by personal experiences. But still, Lexus is not your ordinary Toyota.. no less than a ZO6 is your ordinary Chevy.

My main problem with Lexus is that they are so OVERRATED. I keep hearing how the current IS has such a "good interior" and all that BS. In fact I find Lexus interiors incredibly overrated. They're not cheap but they're far from the "perfection" they are made out to be by dumbass Lexus fanboys. In fact several competitor cars have far better interiors if you ask me from a material and styling POV. Lexus cabins lack elegance because they lack a simplistic design attribute: "Less is more".

Actually the IS's interior has an extremely minimalistic approach. It's not elegant, but neither is the interior of an Enzo. Of course the IS is no Enzo but the point is, different cars must be measured with a different measuring stick.
But all in all I didn't care much for the interior of the IS honestly.
And who cares about those fanboys? Every car has its fanboys crying out for attention, as if they themselves built the darn thing lol.
