@fishychipygravy2k9: I can't give you a definate answer sorry but as far as i know it all depends on the route you fly, the aircraft you are in and what traffic is around the airport at the time.
@fishychipygravy2k9 When coming into land anywere, it depends on what direction the winds going, as the plane always wants to try to land in to a headwind, as with take off, which is why the ATS has the approach set up this way :) and it doesnt matter what route, aircraft or traffic density is like at the airport :P unless there are noise abatements under the approach paths. And your probably just lucky that the wind happens to be blowing that direction. Hopee that helps :P
@campopussies It'll be froze until the airspace temperature raises above freezing. And if it's cold on the ground too then thats why airport crews use de-icing agents on the wings before the airplane takes off.

SpritfireSi: You will be so right. Indeed the "Spoilers" are used for air brakes, etc and are situated upside at the wings. The so called "Flaps" are situated at the back of the wings and the "Slats" in front of the wings. I am so damnit sorry dear youstink15-user. Even though you be a FedEx pilot, this time your brain-knowledge has failed. SpitfireSi: Never you,ve done a misatake.
ok but aren't the flaps the bit on the front and back of the wings that increase lift for take off and landing etc, the spoilers are used for air brakes etc and even in the aircraft manual they call them spoilers rather than flaps, i am a training pilot in oxford and that is what i have been taught
The part were you said "spoilers" increase the drag on an aircraft was correct, except there not called spolers....HAHAHA they are called flaps take it from me i am a pilot for FedEx and if you don't believe me well then you don't believe me but i do know how to fly an aircraft :-)
im going there in one week wooooooo!!!<3 flying from Stanstead

@fishychipygravy2k9 It depends on the time of day and which side of the runway is open at ALC =)

it was a visual approach and hence it was a bumpier landing than the traditional ILS approach

@campopussies 35000 feet high. No matter if it's a normal winter day or a heatwave down on the ground it'll be freezing up there.
AndyJay15 2 years ago
wouldn't it normally thaw as the plane descended though Andy ?
