I remember this fire like it was yesterday. We were all so scared. My bowl-shaped neighborhood was covered with ash like Montana snow, and the flames could be seen from my bedroom. My family and I had to evacuate as many horses as we could from a ranch in its path, but there were so many we couldn't save..
this happen in 1998, 2003 and 2007 and every time it gets worse. if it happens again this year it well take longer and it well get worse with all the fire fighters that got laid off city and state. who knows whats going to happen in 2009
@ShnuffleKrump no rain and brush drier than my sense of humor, piled on top of 50 mph plus winds seriously quick it started 5 miles from my house and we needed to evac in less than 10 minutes it was moving so fast
Omg :37-1:09,4:43. I live there, thats Buenavida! Thats Echo Lane! Thats san marcos. omg omg i live there. there was no fire in san marcos in 2003, was there? I know that house, i saw it before. its 54? echo lane. ok now this is dumb. i talk to much. its not realy that exciting to see your house on videos.
exactly xxbbyshortieex, its these winds that do the damage, they drive and start the fires, like all these are completely unpredictable and can pop up anywhere this is why these are so dam destructive!!
Imfecher - California? I totally agree. I was there in the early 90s. Never again. Florida is the same way, great place to vacation, but a shithole to live in. you simply cannot beat people/places of the midwest.
Moved to CA in '87. I lived in central CA, then moved to the bay area. Had enough of the earthquakes and moved to San Diego in '93. I bought a house and lived in Normal Heights during that firestorm. Afterwards, I sold my house and moved back to Ohio. California is a great place to visit, but I'll never live there again.
This fire was pretty close to my neighborhood. Our family got lucky.
