  • Dieses Video ist wirklich wertvoll. Ich frage mich, ob es eins über Ouspensky gibt.

  • Thank you!

  • unfortunately I do not speak French or German in this life but somewhere in my memory I do. I was raised by someone understanding the "work" taught me so much. but even today becoming a mechanical "machine" is so easy and to "remember ones self" is rare............sigh.... but then again that is why it is called "the work".

  • @underthetornado but remember: it is nearly impossible to do the work all alone...you need a group of people who also work...

  • thx for this video, his books are the deepest books that i have ever read and his teachings are one of the most valuable ones that I have heard or seen or read

  • How would you encapsulate Gurdjieff's teachings? What I have read intrigues me. G sees us all as in a prison - of, I think, societal, religious and state conditioning. We are not for the most part even aware of this conditioning. G is to this extent an existentialist. He is also an existentialist in urging us to find our authentic, deep inner self, He also thinks we have a false picture of life, of the world, of experientical reality. This is my take on him, dipping my toe in the water.

  • I agree, only along with societal, religious and state conditioning I would put ego as the real reason for imprisonment. I would say that the main (if not the only) reason way we have a false picture of life and fall under aforementioned "wrong" influences is because of our ego, or perhaps better to say, our inability to "saddle" it. I think that G wanted to teach us that if we do not become conscious about our ego and what it does to us we will never see that the prison is actually inside us.

  • I agree, the ego is the prison - only I see the ego as a bundle of habits / conditioning formed by imbibing, at the sublest levels and esp. through language, the ideology, values, attitudes of state and culture. I see shades of Neitzsche here. I agree too that our false way of looking at the world and experience derives from the ego. We have to learn to 'saddle' it, yes - or maybe empty the vessel of the ego before it can be filled with the authentic Inner Being.
