it only lets you upload over 10 mins if you had an account before they made that policy. Director accounts dont let you go over 10 minutes anymore :(

Too late. This is what they say now:We are no longer offering the option to upload videos longer than 10 minutes. You can, however, easily change your account type in your profile to Director, Comedian, Musician, or Guru, which offer a variety of features like a custom logo, tour date information, and links to other websites.

If you fiddle around with your channel typs and change it to director it looks like you're one even though you can't put films over 10 mins. So you can bluff. This video is so helpful because fancy Youtube offering any real help even in their FAQ? No that would be too much. This site is chaos but it's free.

Hello Tara:

I got the "Welcome to YouTube's Director Program" email. When I get to page 2 of the upload screen, it says: "Max file size: 100 MB. Max length: 10 minutes." As a director, I would think that message should no longer be there. When I upload my video which is 25 minutes and 160MB, the upload fails the 5 times I tried. What text appears in that box for you? They probably still keep the warning, "Do not upload copyrighted..."

Does anyone actually get denied for a director account? I have two of them now. Although my one for this user hasnt been showing up recently for some reason, i have emailed them about it but no responce as of yet. I am seeing more and more director accounts. I think they should be a little more selective about who they give them too. It seems any kid with a webcam can have one.
