  • well, it's an idea. not a good one. the noise from the action of the console drowns out any musicality.

  • The pedal thing u have done is actully a good idea its cheap and it adds a sort of delay like it would be ona really pipe organ

  • Is there a law against soldering where you are at? You can do string art, but you can't plug in a little $8 soldering iron, hold the tip to a copper etching on a board and add solder to it and when it melts take the heat and the solder away? THAT is all there is to soldering. This is why they have how to's on youtube. You can play classical organ, but you can't solder. Ugh, what is this world coming to?

  • some one told me you cant use the computer keyboard as preset buttons how did you do that

  • Another optional software is "jOrgan".

    Salut!

  • My Frisian friend it is this video which sparked my imagination and desire to make my own virtual pipe organ. Thank you again for posting this.

Your improvisation should be written down and copyrighted. It definitely has some potential!

  • With adding that reverb program to that default Brindley and Foster sample set for Hauptwerk, it really opened up that little organ to a good sounding cathedral organ. Plus, when one can figure out how to configure a computer keyboard to do stops and such through the general settings, it's quite handy to do with what you got.

  • Great idea, your pedal to keyboard action. I thought of doing that years ago. Great sound. Keep up the good work!!!

  • If you know some music theory and chords, it's quite easy to assemble an interesting piece from just plucking on the key. Oh, and the chime tone: He using the trial verson of Hauptwerk which now Hauptwerk 3.20 contains a free edition where the chime is eliminated. Using any reverb program in the computer really helps the St. Annes/Mosley organ sample set sound more powerful.

  • He opens up in D minor chord with the "F" on top in the right hand. Then, goes down one step to the Major 7th being C major with the third chord in C major, 1st inverson. Then, that C major becomes the relative Dominant key for F in which he goes to next. After the "F", he heads to "E" in 1st inversion making the "G" as the base key...which then he head to the D minor Dominant key of "A" and rolls down back down to the tonic key of D minor.

  • "Do you also know, which chords he used at 1:20? " He's playing this little piece in D minor .. in natural minor - no usage of the Bb esp. in the pedals. Thus, the chordal string goes like this in my next comment:

  • How did you set up that keyboard for stops? Thats a great idea

  • That is a built-in function of Hauptwerk. You can define keys on a pc-keyboard to activate a stop! You can do it like you want it. It's pretty cool :-)

  • Cool, but how do I do that?

  • I don't know because I don't use that software. I just tried it out at a store and I dont remeber that! Sorry.

  • just go to general setting>switches (MIDI) imputs.. than find stop you want to activate..in Event type: computer keyboard key pressed...Event number..see in Help..page 208..hope it'll help

  • What is the name of that song at 1:20 ???

It sounds so beautiful. Anyone knows it??

  • LOL! Love the tracker-action pedal division!

  • Fascinating to hear such marvelous sounds coming from that visual lashup! You've got me sold!

  • fantastico! so di chiedere troppo : come si puo costruire ed i costi!

  • that bell is very annoying... Why didn't you just solder the carbon contacts to the pedal board?

  • hm right!

Yes. I did the same with my homebuild organ! Video is coming verry soon :-D! Just add switches to pedalboard and sodder the connections to the keyboard contacts. Much work but more perfect :-)

  • @krishotsaucemiller The bell was in the trial edition at that time. Unfortunately I can't solder!

  • Pretty cool .. a Renassiance piece in D minor that modulates in the middle to the 2nd theme in the relative key of F. One can really hear those open fifths .. and the reverb really makes this piece very powerful.

  • Hey! Great that you've found that out. I was thinking about that all the time! Do you also know, wich chords he used at 1:20 ?? I really want to play this piece, too. Hope you can help!

    Greetings from Germany, Friedrich!

  • I loved how he took another keyboard and made a tracker action setup to play the pedals thorugh it - with mapping that keyboard to channel "0", being the pedal channel for Hauptwerk.

My congrats on this configuration .. how did you assign the stops with the computer's keyboard? This is where I would like to learn that one ... Good luck!

  • He's doing the default St.Anne's/Mosley sample set that comes with the free version of Hauptwerk....why you hear the chimes ...

  • the new free and not evaluation version that just came out doesnt ding, but i realize this happened after you said that

  • That is beautiful lunacy. I love it.

  • Nao seria mais fácil tocar com as mãos diretamente no tecladinho e dispensar o mecanismo frágil, dispendioso, lento e duvidoso?

  • What piece is that you are playing?!

  • It's not an existing piece, I played some notes to demonstrate how it works.

  • i need an organ without the pedals is that possible

  • ok so how did you do the pedal/sharp-flats? I see some sort of stick on them.

Maybe you should send me some pictures so I can get an Idea of it so I can do it? Please? Thanks!

  • Very nice idea. I have built my two manuals organ yesterday, and now i have to make the pedal board.

I think you use a demo version of Hauptwerk. why don't you try MyOrgan a compatible freeware ?

  • Now that is pretty cool!

  • NIce set-up. What is the piece you are playing?

  • Is this the Metz organ C.C?

  • It's the custom organ 2 with a 30 pedal setup

(I added apple matrix cathedral reverb)

  • Hi There,

I just want to say that the ingenuity expressed here is incredible. Not to mention you use the same concepts that I would use as a builder.

  • YOu should use MyOrgan instead of Hauptwerk demo - no chimes, and still good sound. One question: what sample set was used on this video? Quite interesting...

  • Only an Organ Music fan would have the ingenuity to construct your setup. The three manual Hauptwerk setup I see at 0:11 is interesting - which organ set is it (Is it a 32-pedal setup)?

  • It's the custom organ with a 30 pedal setup

  • Very nicely done! :) And congrats on starting the trip down the hauptwerk path - you will not be disapointed!

I've just finished building my opus 2 for a friend, and now it's back to improving my own - on my video page you will see the two-manual version, currently I have a third manual.

    Congratulations again!
