  • Dazzling cartoon. I think it was inspired by the 1939 movie The Gorilla starring the Ritz Brothers. That was some house out in the swamps for Donald to be living in with HD&L. And I am pretty sure those gorilla gloves were not on the table until after the radio announcement: pretty damn clever that. 5:14 when D leaps the table on the stilts is the graceful high point of a VERY elegant stilt run. And then the ending where tear gas releases ones inner child and bonds us all together. Dazzling

  • Internet search says the sign off of the guy on the radio "That is all, Breckenridge" was standard police procedure. "That is all" plus the speakers last name. The guy is not suposed to be an emcee or news announcer on commercial radio but an officer on a police band, which apparently radios back then routinely picked up.

  • Intense chase ever!!!!

  • Seriously some funny shit. Reminds me of childhood.

  • It sure is a big house with all that running around LOL. This is a great cartoon

  • now where did they get that teargas from...

  • @DirtyDerbi It was in the closet next to the gorilla suit.

  • @Paninipoop The cartoon is called "Soup`s On"

  • what does the radio guy say..." that is all from ??????"

  • @LadyFabiella The announcer is saying, "That is all. Breckenridge." The broadcasts were more than likely from a police radio, and Breckenridge was an officer or police chief, broadcasting on the frequency Donald happened to have the radio tuned to.

Back then home radios were capable of picking up local police radio transmissions, since they were broadcast on the same frequencies local radio stations were.

  • ...That is why when you watch some of the old cartoons, you might see a character listening to a music program, then suddenly a report breaks in like this. MGM did it on a couple of Tom and Jerry cartoons, one where a lion escaped from the circus, and another where a white mouse that been given an experimental explosive substance escaped from a laboratory. For the latter, it was warned that the mouse would explode if hit with something.

  • @PatrickRsGhost So in that sense it's a bit educational a look into history. My mother was born a few years after this cartoon and we could never figure out WHAT he said at the end of every report or why he said it.

  • @TheBookWorm1718 That's one thing I like about the classic cartoons like this. So many gags or references to pop culture of the era or lifestyles of the era. They say cartoons aren't educational. I don't think so. Nowadays with the Internet, you can easily look up a cartoon and more than likely find trivia about the cartoon.

I imagine 60 years from now kids will be watching Family Guy or The Simpsons and need to look up references to Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, or lolcats.

  • haha here lies a dead duck

  • My fave disney short of all time. Love the chase scene it still makes me lmfao.

  • The end when Donald and the gorilla are both crying thanks to the nephews' tear gas bomb is funny!

  • I wish that radio sounded like Homer, but the Simpsons and Dan Castellaneta didn;t exist back then!

  • wasnt this a part of like a series of shorts they did on abc family around halloween? like it had this and that scene from the sword and the stone and like a few other scenes like that? idk if im remeber it right i think i saw it when i was like five or six but i cant remember the name

  • @30a18 It was called "Disney's Halloween Treat" that aired back in the early to mid-80s as part of the "Wonderful World of Disney" show that aired on ABC or NBC. It featured this cartoon, the wizard's duel scene from "Sword in the Stone", the Donald cartoon "Trick or Treat", "Three Lonesome Ghosts" (Mickey, Donald, and Goofy), and a combination of three Pluto cartoons dealing with cats, strung together as one continuous cartoon. I once had it on VHS, until I broke it from watching it too much.

  • @PatrickRsGhost I loved it. My VHS is worn out and made its way to the trash. So Sad. Would love to see it again.

  • this use to scare me so bad when i was a kid nostalgia overload

  • I'd wonder how people thought this was appropriate for kids...if not for the fact that I saw it as a kid, and I was fine XD

  • Mythbusters should totally try running with the boots.

  • EPIC CHASE THEME.EVER

  • LOOOOOLLLLL

  • LOL, Huey, Dewey and Louie got their revenge!!! XD

  • This is going to seem really weird, but whenever I would hear "Jumpin, Jumpin" by Destiny's Child, I always imagined this Gorilla dancing to it. Gorillas do not make good dancers.

  • @cheezemonkeyeater Actually a zoo keeper in Japan did teach of group of gorillas to dance, just google Rikizo Asai

  • this was my fave cartoon

    those were the good dayz

  • funny how the kids just happened to have a gorilla suit lying around lol

  • This was the scariest cartoon of my life. I was terrified.

  • I've always wanted to try running like Donald with the boots at 5:08 hahahaha

  • "That is all. Breckenridge." is from a policeman. The radio is basically tuned to a police signal, and "Breckenridge" is a cop reporting to his fellow officers.

  • Does anybody else remember a version of this cartoon that showed Mickey hearing about the gorilla, closing his blinds and grabbing a shotgun before it cuts to Donald's house?

  • @2wingo Yes, that was on an opening to a video from 1999 or 2000 that contained this one, an opening with a new voice-over

  • Best chasing theme ever!!

  • WHERE THE FUCK DID THE TEAR GAS COME FROM?!??!?!?!?!?

  • @christopherlajoie I've got tear gas on my house in case of unwanted gorilla visitors, don't everybody?

  • @christopherlajoie What are you, the Nostalgia Critic? Why are there talking ducks? Try to enjoy the cartoon.

  • @incrediblehulkmovies Get a fucking joke old man!!!

  • @christopherlajoie You need to lighten up as well too, dickhead. I was also making a joke.

  • @incrediblehulkmovies Then you do not know how to be funny or make a joke, eh?

  • @christopherlajoie Donald was a hero in WWII, so maybe he kept a few things from his days in the service.

  • Ive always loved Donald Duck!

Does anyone know if you can get this on DVD?

  • @JanisJoplin70sGirl Yup, but it depends! Are you only interested in this specific short? 'Cause there's a collection of vintage Donald Duck cartoons around, but since they were released years ago, they're quite expensive right now....The volume that contains this cartoon, "The Chronological Donald: Volume Two", is worth $65 bucks at amazon.com...It also comes with other 30 or so cartoons, tho

  • OMG!!! I love Donald!!! These things always cheer me up and make me laugh! :D XD

  • I told donald a 100 time, not to fuck with ppl ....!!

  • Man this is an awesome cartoon, they wish they would make more like these!

  • lmao the part where he runs away on the stilts and boots makes me burst out laughing hahah i love this :D

  • From 3:32 to 3:44 I always chuckle at this part, especially when Louie (dressed in green) covers his behind to avoid being hit.

  • I like the music when gorilla starts to chase Donald.

  • @SoulEaterSaku90 Same here xD

  • this is really, hardly halarious how donald duck and the gorilla silde down the pole!

  • A gorilla can't escape from a zoo can't it?

  • @azriel518 Yes it can. Apes are highly intelligent, and it's not unknown for them to take a zookeeper's keys and use them to get out of their cages.

  • I remember when the disney channel used to play stuff like this sad really what is actually disney on the disney channel anymore ever since hillary duffs stupid show the channel has been utter shit now its full of low rate childrens shows where the actors make porn stars seem oscar worthy

  • 5:09 DONALD DUCK RUN AS FAST YOU CAN!! LOL! ^^

  • He has the biggest house ever.

  • @PBEproductions1

If you look through a lot of the old cartoons, both Disney and Warner Brothers, you will notice that the houses were much larger on the inside than the outside.

  • ha...hey Donald you are one mean duck... for some reason you as same as that gorilla...hehe

  • 3:33 / 6:58 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! {XD

  • @chop11111 It could have belonged to an American wizarding family that magically made it larger on the inside with an "Extension Charm" and later on in life sold it to Muggles that bought it, but had forgotten to break the "Extension Charm" before moving out.

  • Haha 3:28 best part XD

  • was he about to say the b word

  • Donald is so cute when he crys lol, its just so precious! :P

  • @hectorvonhector1234 If you don't like Mickey Mouse then leave him alone, basterd!

  • @dolphinluv2413 LEAVE MICKEY ALONE!

  • @tinu96 People who don't like him would leave him alone. Mickey Mouse fans would bother him.

  • Another way to subdue a ferocious gorilla, use a tranquilizer!

  • @dolphinluv2413 Tear gas and Tranquilizer two common everyday house hold items. Makes me wonder about Donald a bit, [he just happens to have a grenade of tear gas just sitting around house.....]

Mickey I'd be careful when going to visit .......He might have a little rat posion with your name on it.

  • Donald Duck set the land-speed record for stilts-running.

  • omg thanks for posting this loved this as a child

  • Awesome, perfect for the Halloween traditional cartoons. thanks

  • The cartoon gets really great at 4:18

  • @ferretyluv this is a cartoon, cartoon characters can pull cannons out of their ass xD so it's only fair that they can whip up a tear gas bomb out of nowhere hahahaha :D

  • Where the hell did they get tear gas from?

  • Cartoons Make Me Horny, Man!

  • this used to scare me when I was a kid lol

  • @destroyerworlds

    same here.. XD

  • @destroyerworlds It scared me too but when Donald runs from the gorilla on stilts I'm thinking "GO DONALD GO!"

  • O_O your ass is grass dude...5:35

  • since when are gorillas carnivores, oh well, this is cartoon world, anything happens

  • @Amarynthine Apes might not directly go after meat, but they'll eat if they can. So technically this cartoon is half right. :P

  • @Amarynthine They're omnivores

  • 3:50 LOLL

  • pause at 1:52 !! look at where the duck with the yellow hat is coming from!!! lol!

  • @chop11111 And the longest table

  • My god, I watched this film when I was a kid and this made me scared of gorillas forever. It wasn't until I saw Planet of the apes (the classic) which made me like apes again.

  • my first donald duck movie that i was watched when i was in first grade.....cooollll.......i love it very much..thanks dad for bring me this cartoon....

  • @Paninipoop That's Soup's On, easy to find on Youtube. One of my faves, btw!

  • this is what made disney exellent back in the golden age of animation.

  • I remember I cried when I saw the gorila crying xD

  • @tenacious1884 Why did u cry? did the tear gas get to you as well? hehe

  • @Mike9258 no, maybe because I was too sensitive and care for others when kid?

  • Loved this ep as a kid. Scared me.

  • So....wait.....whenever Donald listens to the radio he has gorilla hands next to his chair??? What goes on in that house???

  • My favorite out of ALL the Donald Duck Cartoons

  • hahahaha very funny classic!!!

  • Hands down, best Donald Duck short EVER!!!!!!

  • Love it... total memories

  • the music during the chase its insane!

  • @Windermarin lol. I used to laugh my ass off as a kid when he was running with those boots on the sticks.

  • I love Donald Duck he is one of my favorites. This was a fovrite of mine when I was little thank you so much for putting it on here. They really don't make cartoons like this anymore. : )

  • when i was very young, i couldnt sleep at night cause id think a terrifying gorilla will chase me. LOL but im over that now, but i was EPIC back in da childhoods :D

  • i love this and i pretend to be scare and i laugh soo hard my parents and i watch this every halloween

  • OMG MEMORIES

  • Okay so was there a big fear of apes around the 30's-50's or something? I mean there were ALOT of them about or featuring homicidal apes. I suppose it might have been somewhat because of King Kong, but this, The Monster Maker, The Gorilla, The Ape Man, Murders in the Rue Morgue, Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklin Gorilla (Lugosi was in the last three too), The Ape, Captive Wild Woman which had two sequels and so many more make one wonder. That said I love this cartoon.

  • OMG... REMiNiSCiNG MODE: ON :D

  • I was always amazed to see how big his house was from the inside, although it doesn't look so big from the outside. xD

  • i Remember this video ..

  • Aw man, this one is one of my top 3 episodes of Donald Duck, cause of the music, the latter and the tombstone that says "Here lies A Dead Duck"

  • This ladder XD.

  • I like the kids to work with Donald Duck. They don't have to be the one that cause troubles all the time. It's good to see them co-op but still make mischief.

  • I was totally laughing when he started to run then to the ladder, getting only two wooden poles then having boots on the bottom was the funniest part!!

  • this was seen from "Mickeys House of Villans."

  • This used to scare the shit out of me.

  • @johnnytubeaccount Me too. This was terror for people born in the early 80's.

  • Here lies a dead duck XDDDD

  • LMFAO at 5:56 to 5:59

  • I laugued my arse of the first time I saw the scen with the ladder! I was about 5-6 years old. xD

  • 5:11 haha!=D

  • Don't listen to the radio announcer when he says "you can master any wild animal by looking him strait in the eyes." Some wild animals will consider this a threat and might attack.

  • @ophelius111 maybe proper spelling might help?

  • @Mounopliktos help with what? Seems my spelling is fine.

  • @ophelius111 when you said don't listen to the radio announcer you said strait. It is STRAIGHT. There is your spelling error. A strait is a narrow, navigable channel of water that connects two larger navigable bodies of water. My previous messaged was flagged. Whoever did this is a complete idiot.

  • @Mounopliktos Man, who cares! Are you the grammar police?

  • @ophelius111 so you do admit you made a mistake. Therefore you are flawed.

  • Thanks for uploading this!

  • They don't make em like they used to.

  • As a kid, watching Donald run on stilts cracked me up every time without fail.

  • Is there actually a DVD with this episode?

  • this is one of my all-time favorites! made me crack up as a kid and even today it has me falling off the couch laughing hysterically! This is one of Donald's greatest!

  • i haven't seen this in years...thanks for posting.

  • EPIC

  • Classic. I loved this one

  • watch at 6:45 and listen to the gorilla when he's blowing

  • 3:26 - 3:45 = lol

  • This was one of my favorite shorts as a kid.

  • I haven't seen this since I was a little, little kid! WOW, I miss these!

  • saw this for the first time on a disney channel halloween special when I was litle beack in the early 90's. Every time i watch it, the the more HILARIOUS it gets, especially the chase sequence

  • I want that radio he has. :D

  • gotta love the animations and humour, the chase scene is just epic!and this is 66 years old!!

  • funny shot and in 2:29 how do you think it smelled in there?

  • why does Donald happen to have a spare pair of gorilla gloves on his table

  • And why does he have 2 gigantic tables in line?

And where did they did find tear gas?

    And why...

    Cartoon logic.

  • Maybe he's kinky.

  • @animallover2047

From a past Halloween party or a costume party?

  • @Icephoenyx, I also remember Donald going into a court or some street with businesses, but it was late and everything was closed.

  • awts

  • lol 5:57 spare me spare me

  • R.I.P

  • DONALD'S SCARY TALES.

  • I remember watching this every halloween as a kid!!

But I remeber it being part of a series or something. I remember there was another stroy where one of the disney characters went to some sort of court or something, and these cats were singing "one little two little three little angels" ....anyone know what I'm talking about??

  • The character in question was Pluto, and the short you referred to is "Pluto's Judgement Day".

  • this one is a classic

  • @hiwazzupdudes

Definately is a classic Donald Duck cartoon. Also, I loved it at 3:32-3:35 when Donald's face turned into a steaming kettle because one of his nephews burned his tail with that candle.

  • I like how they named the gorilla Ajax. Ajax is usually the go-to brand name in Disney shorts (like Acme for Warner Bros. shorts). However, here it's used as the name of a monstrous gorilla.

  • Ajax was also a legendary warrior in Greek mythology, similar to Achilles. They might have named the gorilla Ajax to say he was a big mean badass.

  • Lol he's so mean Donald

  • LOL@3:27-3:41

  • i LOVED this when i was a kid!....it kinda scared me but i could not stop watching it.

  • This Cartoon can reflect Final Destination?

  • "Here Lies a Died Duck". LOL

  • I knew tear gas hurt, but come on!!

  • What does Donald say after he hears his echo in the gorilla's throat? I cant understand him.

  • He says, SPEAK TO ME

  • He said "Amen".

  • Actually, he's saying "Oh, BOYS??"

  • Loving Donald's prehensile and self-conscious tail here, lol. :-)
