NOBODY outside of the Bible EVER talked about a man called "Jesus" i.e. not people writing thousands of years after the death of him (which is what the New Testament is), but rather that nobody in his own time ever even wrote about him. Science has not made that discovery but just because we don't know something does not mean that you go and beleive in something just to give yourself an answer. These questions will take some time in answering, but you need to look on the side of science. Science is based on evidence, and there is absolutely no evidence of any god anywhere. So the most unlikely scenario is an inteligent creator. Much more evidence for big bang

Documentaries are supposed to be movies based on documented truth based objective fact. I really don't like these new heavily opinionated and sensationalist films. Getting enough facts to support an argument is not a documentary. At least make a new genre of film so people don't think this is purely objective.

If he wanted to make a comedy, he should label it as a comedy - not a ''documentary''. science proves there is a God. And that the bible is indeed accurate. Most astronauts are christians and remain christians. Even after going into the vacuum of space and feeling so infinitily small, they still believe. However, theyre are false prophets and religions. But I for one believe in jesus christ. And I also study quantum mechanics and aerospace engineering.

Most people today do not even truly understand the religion that they supposedly hold so close to their heart. They merely participate in it's shallow traditions foolishly believing that performing the rituals of showing up on sunday and judging others for their sins will somehow guarantee their place in heaven. I find it hilarious because it's usually the atheists or just non-religious people who know more about religion and are far more rational, happy people.
Really, it shocks me how little so many hardcore Christians actually know about their own religion, the contents of their "holy" book, and the convoluted history of that book. Ignorance truly is bliss.

Studies have shown that the more intelligent a person is, the less likely they are to be religious. In other words, the less intelligent a person is, the more likely they are to be religious.

Science has not made that discovery but just because we don't know something does not mean that you go and beleive in something just to give yourself an answer. These questions will take some time in answering, but you need to look on the side of science. Science is based on evidence, and there is absolutely no evidence of any god anywhere. If he wanted to make a comedy, he should label it as a comedy - not a ''documentary''. It's funny how some of these people who were interviewed think about the concept of god; but this pseudo-documentary has nothing else other than that. Maher's film had great potential - it's a shame he didn't flower it.

If this was to show pros/ cons, it sounds reasonable but he absolutely rips everyone he talks to and never listens etc(ironic because this if often what religious people have been seen to do) He made points that I agree with, but theyre things that don't make me less christian if that makes sense.
One example - he went off on creationism vs evolution and i know that's a hot topic, but you never see the perspective of the christian who believes God created evolution, etc. It's just interesting.

@DeJay14 thats one of the most ignorant and bigoted statements ever made...religion has caused more deaths and turmoil than any other organisation in the world...9/11 religion caused...the holocaust caused by religion...the crusades caused by religion...more than 2000 years of war between the Israelis and Palestinians all of these events are 100% based on hatred from one religious group to another...yes people do kill people...because they don't share their religion

Ideologies and people kill others and also political agendas often mixed with religion often has something to do with what people do. @miamorhardstyle so by your logic after religion is gone we next eliminate atheism because it also had its fair share of murders? and about that science you realize many of the founding fathers OF science were christians many of them deeply committed believers(who read their bibles).The bible is not a science textbook and god gave us logic so we can explore his creation. The bible deals mostly with the spiritual realm history deals with the past science the observable, FYI used to be a skeptic

science proves there is a God. And that the bible is indeed accurate. Most astronauts are christians and remain christians. Even after going into the vacuum of space and feeling so infinitily small, they still believe. However, theyre are false prophets and religions. But I for one believe in jesus christ. And I also study quantum mechanics and aerospace engineering.

@l3yrdman au contraire- science proves that it is impossible to prove that their is a "god." You can believe in one if you wish, but ultimately it is man himself that postulates what this "god" wants from us. Utter conceit and hypocrisy. Every religion has a different interpretation of what this so called "god" wants. It all depends on what the human spokesman for him/her wants to gain from being "god's" spokesperson. Usually it's just about keeping people from thinking on their own.

If god is all powerful than he/she must be responsible for all the evil in the world- as well as the good. God- the father of evil. That is a necessary conclusion if you believe tha yourt god is omnipotent.

Most people today do not even truly understand the religion that they supposedly hold so close to their heart. They merely participate in it's shallow traditions foolishly believing that performing the rituals of showing up on sunday and judging others for their sins will somehow guarantee their place in heaven. I find it hilarious because it's usually the atheists or just non-religious people who know more about religion and are far more rational, happy people.
