There are beginner series such as HCS and MCS. Semi-Pro like Classics and Pro-Series like Byzance, MB20 Soundcaster, MB8, MB10 and Generation X (special effect cymbals for modern music).
i had a band practice today and the singer who was the drummer brought over his new cymbal set for me to look at and i did like everything but the BEST ride cymbal ive ever heard was his Meinl MCS 20" Ride Cymbal, its so good that i had my heart set on a paragon ride and am now getting the meinl instead! they are well worth a try
that MB8 splash is one of the best sounding ive ever heard. that ride is nice as piss too. paiste rude crashes are pwnage as far as the crash goes though.
i kinda steered away from buying a cymbal pack... i think building up your collection slowly but with super good quality cymbals you'll never replace is the best way to go and more cost effective in the long run
I own 2 Z Custom crashes and the great thing about them is that I feel like they will never break. The downside to them is that they are way too loud. The drown out everything else. I too will be switching to Meinl cymbals soon.
To add to that, test the 2002 wild crashes. I've never seen such a positive response from cymbals accustom to louder settings. As well, the APX crashes are just sweet so also try them
B8 alloy is used commonly in entry level cymbals such as zbt's and B8's. But its also the same alloy used in Paiste 2002's. B8 alloy just has different sound characteristics that B20.
Those china crashes... W/ ozone holes... I want one.
