If I wanted to quiuckly set up for a band or with a large amount of inputs to record studio or live with different bands how quickly can this be set up to record? Is there a limit to the number of inputs to record @ 1 time? I was looking into the new Presonus firestudio with optical into the digi max. What are your thoughts on this or a different interface with 24 channels? B Nice if you or someone could show a video on how quickly you could set up for a live recording with several inputs

@coolmixes there is no limitation to howmany inputs you can have going at one time in Record, well as much as your computer can handle. depending on your audio interface, you will have a limited amount of inputs. unless you use an external mixer and record everything into one channel. on the other hand, you could use a usb mixer and assign channels in Record, such as a behringer usb mixer.
I reg all my products online, the computer I regs on is not the computer I do my music on. How can I get the info needed on my key so that I can use my software on my music computer.?
@Audiowithalex Quality? You must be joking. The person behind the program is the required quality. Its like saying getting a Yamaha Motif for $5000 will make you sound like Timbaland, when in fact, your playing skills are paramount. People please, Pro Tools is overpriced, overated and nothing special. You could even compare it to Audacity. Every prog is good, how you use it is important.
I shouldn't have said quality. what i mean is how much it can work with audio, yes a talented engineer could do very well with this program, but it isn't any cheaper than protools. Record cost me around $300 Cnd, protools only $350 for m-powered, unless your getting HD. protools is still better, plus you get A LOT of unwanted phase in record, which is something you can control in protools.
@Audiowithalex Would you say phase is a problem with Record? I have Record, Reason and Logic... But I don't really understand phase... would you care to elaborate?
There is a phase reverse switch on the top of each channel in record called "inv" clicking this will flop the phase, if you want me to explain phase in greater detail message me! :)
@PastorJayJay well, there can still be quality issues due to limitations in individual programs, but Records mixer is a BEAST, so you can cover up its downsides. Better yet, why not rewire Record into Protools. You can keep all of your mixer channels and editing capabilities from both programs all at once. Record is low on CPU, so its fine running aside protools
I just still dont believe any real seasoned engineer would use this for polished radio-ready songs...especially as opposed to using the pro gear/plugins they already have. This is CLEARY for the bedroom, beat making reason-using producers and engineers....I've tried it and it has that same "thin" sound that Reason always had ( i luv Reason btw) and i just cant get with it...it is a cool program though but again in my opinion its geared more toward the "bedroom" guys...my 2 cents
I mean I love reason for the beat making things and the MIDI stuff, but this will be great for me to record my guitar in and I can do some cool things, and make the music I want to and not just beat like stuff.
Yeah and can you use Reason patches, like could I load a Thor Polysonic Synthesizer into Record?
Most certainly, If you Buy the Reason and Record bundle, unless you have already Reason then you can buy record for almost half the selling price, unless of course you have a Pirated copy of reason, then they will not work in sync
Im Not 100% about the Guitar Port, i know line 6 and Propellerhead are working together, but something tells me the guitarport, might not work. If you have a local Muisc store like Guitar center near you ask them, sorry that doesnt help!
this program looks really sweet. your video...not so sweet. you really dont say anything about what it does, you just kind of randomly click around and say that its an amazing program. its nice to see the screenshots and whatever because they dont show too much of that in the official video, but you could have definitely conveyed a lot more information in over 9 minutes. but i am glad that you think its amazing.
Well this is from when the beta was still out so i wasn't really allowed to show its main features, also, the description says it's a sneak peak, but i appreciate your concern
i have a question about punching in. when i set my punch in point and start recording i don't get any audio from the original take before the punch in actually starts, making it near impossible to get it right. how do you punch in and still allow monitoring of the original take?
Reocrds Automatic Monitoring is a little complicated some times, I'm not quite sure what you mean about punching in weather it be loops or pre-counts, but Your problem is most likely monitoring so go to Preferences>Audio> and at the bottom hit Manual Monitoring, this will prevent record form switching what Chanels will be monitored during playback/recording.
Yes you can, if you have a legitimate version of reason that is. And no, Reason is still and incredibly flexible program and you can still run it standalone from record while having record as well.
hmmmm, sort of. You really can do A lot of Stuff in the program with out reason. They're not really forcing you, reason is more of a Music creation tool. Record is for musicians to record. but yes it is a bit of a hassle for people who do both.
what kind of interface do i need to use it? i was useing my podxt live to record guitar but idk how to make myself be able to hear the song while im playing? whats some good things to get to use this software?
At Guitar Center it's 499.00 for the bundle. I was told that you can use ALL the great plug-ins from Reason in Record. Is that true? What would be the advantage of having the bundle?
technically speaking, they are not plug ins, but just Combinators from Reason using its cretin elements. i presume you live in the States which is why its around 500$ If you are looking to use Record as a primary DAW then yes id suggest you get the bundle, but if you're looking at going industry standard, get Protools LE or M-powered
You can Record Anything you'd like. In Terms of Ease, Its very easy to use and very user friendly, i would suggest it to any one who wants to record but may not have the right tools, NO it is not better that pro tools in terms of processing, but for people who are musicians and not engineers, its great.
Midi In's and Out are kind of fading in Software, i understand it kinda sucks but if your synths have a direct out then just put it in a line in through your interface and record should automatically pick it up, as for controlling if its usb then it shouldn't be a problem
MIDI isn't going anywhere! What are you talking about 'fading in software'?! Name me one piece of audio software that doesn't support the MIDI protocol? There aren't any. The annoing thing for me is that it features quite heavily in Reason/Record. They just have not bothered to offer MIDI-out. My Neptune 2 analogue synth has a built in MIDI > CV converter. Would have been nice to sync it to Record & use the RPG-8 & Matrix to control it. OH well. Maybe for Record 2.0 ;)
I'm not sure about that either. It's certainly a lot more under the hood in Reason. But Reason has some of the best MIDI automation of any program I've ever used. I'm sure that if the Prop's implimented MIDI-out in Record it would be handled just as well. That's another reason why I'm so desperate to see it. For me it would make Record almost perfect as it is.
You will be able to buy Record for Reason users for $149, and this will let you upgrade to Reason 4 (which you need for Record) from any prior Reason version. So I found a used version of Reason 2.0 for $50, and will upgrade when Record comes out, for a total cost of $200 for Reason 4 and Record!
