One of the great iconic scenes of the 70's. After the .44 takes Scorpio to the ground, that great Lalo Schifrin groove as Harry strolls implacably towards his prey. As that famous shot pulling us away from Harry extracting information trying to save a girl from a horrible death, there is now no system, no district attorneys, Just Harry and his subject...still gives me goosebumps.
All of the CGI in the world today cannot top how this 40 year old scene leaves the stadium into the mist and then into total blackness...butted up to the next scene of Harry standing in the blue gray atmoshpere of the Golden Gate with Shiffren's keyboard!!!! Great damned movie!
@wildmanbeyond Because the Law doesn't allow them! People would be complaining about police brutality. Oh...and ....because....cops like these in realilty would go crazy and become psycopaths themseles....or some shit like that..
@Sherpaful Yeah it is! People who have the tendency to like that kind of music are fans of avant-garde artists. Think in terms of Picasso. Some find beauty in his paintings while others find them grotesque. Or, a wool sweater. Some find them warm and confortable while others find them scratchy. As the saying goes, one's trash is another's treasure.
One of my favorite scenes in a movie, and one of the most effective long shots and slow pans out, just after Harry steps on Scorpio's leg. Classic.

The football stadium where this scene was filmed is still in use, although it was reconfigured several years ago.
The actor playing the Scorpio killer is brilliant. He's been very good in just about any part he's played.
