@evalover1 We would probably say it isn't as good for road running as you need something that can cope with high aerobic activities. We would presonally go with a wind shirt as although not waterproof, you will be generating so much heat it won't be as important.
I am looking into buying a good winter jacket, but just for daily use like walking to university. I want a north face jacket that will allow me to stay warm while only wearing a thin shirt under. Would this "Venture" jacket suffice? Please advise
@koryan It's up to you what is more important, and if you feel you need a longer length, I wouldn't disagree. This jacket is perfect though for daily wear as it is lightweight enough to put in your rucksack, and forget about until the rain comes down!
@webtogs thanks well I have ordered one. just hope its the right size for me. I am 6 foot 4 and 84kg and ordered a large. Im hoping with the toggles/drawstrings it should fit me well.
@koryan Best bet is to check the chest size against the size chart - any problems though rest assured we'll sort them with our Zero Hassles exchange policy.
@rfalpha Definitely, it just depends on whether you run hot or cold as to whether you go for a 100 or 200 weight fleece. I run hot so I go for a merino wool base layer, lightweight fleece and Venture jacket at that temperature.
@dan2e2 Thanks for your comment. Fit is similar to Berghaus in that they come up large. I would recommend getting a medium as well to go over the Manaslu.
@Chitown23unknown Both will be good for snow, though I might go for the Venture over the resolve as it has velcro cuffs. IMHO no snow skirt is needed if you make sure you don't fall over ;-)
@freemusicblogg Both will have the same waterproof qualities as they both use Hyvent, North Face's own breathable waterproof fabric. I am not sure what Hyvents measurements are but we will try and find out the RET rating for you.
@elmo1349 Thanks for your comment. Both do a great job, it just depends on what features you want. The resolve has elasticated cuffs, no pit zips and a less adjustable hood - but it is cheaper. The Venture has Pit Zips, Velcro cuffs and a slightly better hood but costs more. It just depends whether these features are important for your chosen activity,
this jacket breathes like a trash bag we used to wear when dropping weight classes for wrestling. trash bag is stronger than this jacket and costs CENTS compared to the $100+ price tag.
@absolutgsxr Thanks for your comments, have to disagree however. Breathability is not as good as perhaps Goretex or eVent but its certainly so much better than a plastic bag!
@jonesnow generally speaking, I'm a fan of the north face brand and have many gear and clothing items from them. In regards to this jacket, I personally was disappointed with the durability, waterproofness, and ventilation. I expected a lot more from this jacket especially since it was a north face product. If given the option of this or a trash bag, obviously I would choose the jacket :-) Potential buyers do your research and homework.
@jonesnow Hi Mate I love this jacket I had it during a cyclone in Fiji when it was stolen on me (sickened) I only had it for 3 months but they were in the rainy season and it was a excellent jacket rain beaded off it straight away it had good breathability and cut wise the pit zips were great in very humid tropical conditions def no bin liner
Is this jacket good for doing sports and like road running, as I need a new jacket to keep me dry and breathable!!

@RumbleM0NKEY Possibly not, take alook at the McMurdo, Sentinel or Yellow band parka videos we have made as these are good alternatives.

parka is better dont you think, for the longer length?
Also do you agree this would be good just for daily wear as I need a waterproof jacket just for going to school

Do you think this TNF Venture jacket paired with a good fleece layer could hold up against -2 Degrees Celsius?

Are these Large or Small fitting jackets?
Bit of a long shot, but what size would you recommend fitting over a Mens Berghaus Manaslu in MEDIUM?
Qualifying outlets are too far away you see - many thanks.

@webtogs Would it be good for like cold weather?
has214 1 year ago
@has214 As an outer layer yes, but there is no insulation on this jacket so it needs to be partnered with a suitable fleece or insulation layer.
