  • My Mazda mx-6 v6 did the same exact thing. It was the crankshaft.

Next time buy one high output oil pump to reduce the chance of blowing your car again.

  • You can hear the computer responding to the knock sensor going nuts over that noise and changing the timing around.

  • what do you expect it's a Mitsubishi how many 5+ year old cars do you see on the road by this Manufacture? How are they still in business? Dodge?

  • How can I repair it thank you

  • This problem is 6 yrs. old.

  • Sounds just like a bad rocker, which of course could be caused by a bad valve. But you could see that in the exhaust.

  • too much rice inside the engine

  • Like a valve noise

  • I have this problem too

  • Sounds like bad timing to me

  • :( hate this sound....replaced my whole head/block and all was fine, no more knocking....but it haunted me, a diesel truck pulled up next to me and my heart almost stopped. :(

  • @Ricerguy lol i know the feeling. Yesterday at a stop i pissed myself thinking that i have blown something but it was only a tractor behind me lol :p

  • @m4sta2 xD

  • i think you have an engine problem, but it doesn't look too bad. I Think your good for another 50 000 miles. lol

  • Rebuild time haha :P

  • try putting gas in your engine instead of oil. then drive it off of a cliff.

  • Ur piston valve broke or came loose

  • It's a playing card pegged to your fan, like when you peg a card to your push bike's spokes to make it sound like a motorbike. In reality your engine is not really running, just your fan to give a faux engine sound.

  • um dude i think your valve cover light is on

  • Comment removed

  • u got low tire pressure thats why its knocking, top off the dome lights and fill ur brake lines with air, start the car drive to 100mph and stop only then the rod nock will be completely gone, as well as your front end, and probably u too.. lmmffaaoo

  • @modeindustries You are an idiot

  • @ovrboostVR4 ur more of an idiot for thinking i was serious, duche

  • @modeindustries youre just an all round faggot.

  • @modeindustries are you the only idiot laughing at your pathetic joke?

  • @neelantra probably lol, not that i give 2 shits what people on utube laught at, lol ?? are u kidding ahahah its utube dude why are u even responding to it

  • Blinker fluid is a must when your diagnosing an exhuast bearing knock with a pully cam timing valve.LOL...

  • your doing it wrong, you need to put in some urine into the gasoline, this will fix your engine knock, and nice knock sensor would go good after leaving it in urine for a night

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahah

  • good as new

  • lol

  • its his brake fluid

  • its has brake fluid

  • youve got a blown timing chain

  • rod knock, worn bottom end bearing my 6a12tt does it aswell it really doesnt effect preformance.

  • @mustbe2easy yeah, wouldn't be doing it any good, either

  • @mustbe2easy lol r u joking?

  • Dingle shaft.

  • BLINKER FLUID IS LOW!

  • @du4lstrik3

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • REPLACE CABIN FILTER BEARING IMMEDIATELY!!!

  • isnt that a piston that busted or something

  • u need synthetic oil LOL

  • I think the the intake pipe thrust bearing has gone..

  • Sounds like the flux capacitor is loose. Should be able to get a replacement at autozone.

  • Well its knocking, are you going to answer it?

  • I think he forgot his turn signal fluid. (:

  • @mattpatrick1 rofl, i thought muffler bearings was funny, turn signal fluid is epic

  • @sacr3 Funny thing is, I used to work at a ford dealer, and the Lincoln LSes that came in with bad headlight vents, they'd be about half full of water right? So we told the customers their turn signal fluid was low first, just to get a laugh.

  • Definately about to throw a rod.

  • @Skoda130 What does "throwing a rod" mean? Is that expensive. I have a knock in my 1997 Honda Civic LX. I'm trying to get info on possible reasons.

  • @PearsonLeggit Throwing a rod means that a connection rod between piston and crankshaft is on it's way out, due to worn big end bearings. Ift here's a metallic knock at all RPM's, from the lower half of the engine, it's a worn big end bearing. The cure, usually, is a complete overhaul or replacement of the engine. You could fix one big end bearing, but the other bearings are just as old, and may be on their way out as well.

  • motor is fucked

  • first try to retard the timing a little bit and see if that helps, if not i would take the head apart and check to see if you have bent a valve and it isnt seating properly...Best of luck respond if you found out what the problem was? how many pounds of boost was it running on? stock ecu??

  • the wigglin' pin has came out of the wobblin' shaft

  • spun a rod bearing

  • knocking isnt your only problem, someone installed it the wrong way! jk

  • you might want to check the muffler bearning

  • Major engine overhauling is needed

  • consistent redlining achieves maximum fuck ups

  • I think the piston-return spring is worn out...

  • Your chassis is blocked.

  • Sounds to me like a rod knock =(...very nice Vr4 though, and yes engine needs rebuilt =(

  • You blew the welds on the intake LOL

  • @The870Express too much NOS!

  • Sounds like your motor mount fluid or alternator oil is low, just add a quart and you should be good. ASE Certified Technician.

  • @amaolud78

but this also happened to me too and did the same thing u said n the car died on me.

  • @MrMouaboiz Are you serious? Because I was joking. No such thing as alternator oil or motor mount fluid.

  • @amaolud78

Actually there are lots of engine mounts out there willed with a oil (almost a hydraulic oil). Google 2.3l Mazda3 No.3 Engine Mounts

    -Mazda Tech

  • @hampnich WOW that's news to me, guess I need to step up my game. Thanks for the info.

  • @amaolud78 Actually there are lots of engine mounts out there filled with oil. Read up on 2.3l Mazda3 No.3 Engine Mount

    -Mazda Technician

  • @amaolud78 omg really? seriously?

  • @amaolud78 omg really? seriously? now thats just sad! everybody knows that a bad joke cause most everyone knows it dont exist! :/

  • Sounds like the timing belt is about to give way, that's the same noise I had when my timing belt broke.

  • アイドリング付近でノックが発生することはまずありえません。

    おそらく機械的に壊れているでしょう。

  • @Atsu0810 まあこれは明らかに失敗しているリマン必要がありますまたは交換させていただきます。

  • Damn...makes me cringe to hear that.

  • Thats nothing, I managed to shatter a con rod cap when the bearings went on my saab. 3000-0 rpm in less than a second! Never knocked again lol

  • heres the best tip of them all DONT BUY A 3rd GEN eclipse!!! they are the biggest piece of trash in the world. i own an 03 GTS and an 05 subaru wrx... guess which one i much rather enjoy working on and enjoy driving? hmmmmmmm put 7 grand into a 3rd gen 3.0 v6 and youll hang with a lightly modded wrx.

  • @Roesch03WRX your a retard and know nothing about the 6g72 if you think it takes 7 grand to keep with a lightly modded wrx

  • @firefoxx04 lol i was watching this video from a military computer its got shit for a montior. i didnt see that this was a GT bwahaha

  • not a good sound at all

  • Love the guy trying to find the source of the knock by touching the valve cover.

  • i have a weird sound in my engine, its a fast tst tst tst tst tst tst tst tst tst tst tst sound but its a very faint/soft sound. just wondering if any1 know what is that?

  • when you're done groping the valve cover , check your blinker fluid.

  • same thing happened to my gt beautiful cars but the motors are shit

  • @JimmyMcmillan exhaust barings were worn retard

  • @cbccadets09 NO SUCH thing as an eshaust bearing, retard, and if you believe it exist go check the muffler bearing while your at it, and it might be a good idea to check the pilot light in your gas tank.

  • @motorhead45102 There might be cumulous clouds clogging your carburetor. Also, check your turn signal fluid.

  • @JDK0316191 don't forget to mention the wiper blade grease and that HHLF(hydraulic head lamp fluid).

lol so many things to say but not going to take the time to do all that.

  • @motorhead45102

lol dont forget the s-10 fluid. lol

  • @motorhead45102 lmfao

  • @motorhead45102 There is to an exhaust bearing you fucktard!

  • @Runkleforskin well if so, inform me the info of what it looks like and where it might be.

  • @motorhead45102 could also be the johnson rod, or the headlight fluid might be low...plus it looks like the front tires are on the back and the backs are on the front...

  • @magicn3ss forgot to change winter air to summer air in the tires also

  • @motorhead45102 yes thats very important too

  • @motorhead45102 HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH EPIC

  • @motorhead45102 What it is, Is the doohickie got wrapped around the thingamabod, then it started rubbing and messed up the guzunda valve, after that all hell breaks loose and the valves got cattywampus, then it was fixin to blow but darn tuttin that ornery rod was in a heap of trouble.

  • eww v6

  • someone has hidden an old ducati in there somewhere

  • You car done ate a wood pecker.

  • @angrut: got news for you, numbnuts. My ex has an 05 Corolla and is making the same noise.

  • It sounds like a bad radiator hose.

  • @gfinseth

    lmao

  • @gfinseth last time ive checked radiator hose dont knock

  • Should've gotten a Honda or Toyota lol

  • my 99 3000gt does the same exact thing and i dont know what to do

  • im guessing someone was a jackass and over revved the engine which wasnt made for high rpms and spun a rod bearing...you fail sir

  • GET IT GONE!

  • My 3.0l v6 2000 ford ranger does this and its coming from the bottom close to the tranny so we are thinking the 4th rod bearing wentout whats the real problem with it?

  • i know you have figured it out already but a 7m of mine made the same pitch tap on start up and it turned out to be light tapping on the oil pan from the crank, where a workshop had 'accidently' crushed it when they jacked it up.

  • @lynel1985 the thing is about workshops is they dont pay for it and they dont tell you if they broke something

  • Comment removed

  • i love how this guy is feeling the intercooler piping and rad hoses to find the knock as if he has a clue what hes doing

  • @magicn3ss Agreed HAahahahahaha

  • @magicn3ss this guy knows more than you can imagine skeet face

  • @cbccadets09 riiight...thats why hes feeling rad hoses to locate the knock...if he knows more then me hed know right away what it is, and how to fix it...

  • @magicn3ss thats exactly why his car has a knock !! lol

  • @lilwiseman lol

  • These bloody foreign cars, they aren't worth a damn.

  • @Roadghost88 no, only irresponsibly people cause there cars to be worth nothing. I see more fords, and chevys die out here from neglect then any import.

First, some people dont even get the fact they need to change there oil every 3,000 or how ever long..I DO MY own work, i see nothing but shit in american cars, but then again im saying something about the driver.

  • the intake splits into 2, why?

  • @tpvalley cuz its a twin turbo

  • sounds like the big ends on its last legs to me

  • that's not engine knock...... but it's certainly a problem

  • @LordFabs your an idiot.

  • Mitsubishi= worst quality of any car maker.

  • nice 3kgt upload the motor now

  • i bet the engine knocked because these idiots didnt do change oil to that car! if yes, when was te last time?

  • this is a 6g72 dohc turbo, its a rod bearing failure with the piston slapping the cylinder head, im in the middle of rebuilding my 6g72 mivec for the same. fault .

easy car to work on had mine stripped down to the crank and head off in an hour n half. the engine bay only looks clatterd as you have no idea wtf your looking at.

  • you couldn't pay me to work on that it looks like a nightmare, no a square inch to spare.

  • Noise increases on rev up and decreases with rev down. Points to internal parts under stress like rod bearing. Pull all spark plugs and test each piston hand rolling pastTDC. Put a screw driver down the plug hole and push the piston down - looking for one with play.

  • eso es una valvula o una bujia xd

  • Rod knock. sounds pretty bad too. Give it hell and you'll see the problem. It'll present itself through the block. lol.

  • it was made in a sweat shop in china by lil zipperhead kids

    thats what that noise is

  • what the fuck... i can tell through laptop speakers its a rod knock...jeeze whats to be confused about

  • Transverse mount V6.. Have fun with that.. Guaranteed a bearing check out my Subaru Forester Knock video... Pulling the motor in the Forester is like changing the fuel filter tho...

  • not a race car.

  • would say youve recently had the head off...there for my guess is that you havenot torqued a lifter properly or you have a plcked oil pick up line!! could be a dirty chamber too carbon build up from high temp operations and to thick of an oil!! cheap fix=engine de carb cleaner and drop oil and filter! or remove covers as it sounds like a incorect lifter adjustment to me!! and yes is common in these motors!

  • it sounds like u are about to throw a rod

  • i think you have a mouse stuck in there ..... you should check it out

  • replace knock sensor to reduce the pinging

  • valve tick??

  • yes 1#supra! you got it...might as well do the whole bottom end.. tests the heads too.. scrap metal will come up..... soon

  • you rebalnce the psitons when the motor starts to knock right ?

  • sound like a lifter

  • my old tiburon used to have a smaller knock to it than this but it did have a knock starting at about 155k miles, cool and informative video!

  • my eclipse sounds like that :( :( :( :( :(

ive been trying to get ideas of what the loud ass noise could be. thanks for posting this. i appreciate it

  • Oh that's a familiar noise. Gotta love it eh... :(

  • that noise is really common in 3000s. im not sure what it is, but i know its not rod knock. i thought mine had rod knock too, but i read somewhere about how it happens with almost all of them.

  • soudns like rod knock

  • Looks like a bit too much ricer red line.

  • Not a timing chain -- that'd be more of a slapping sound. It's either a rod bearing or camshaft issue. I'm guessing rod bearing.

BTW: You can't "feel" a knock -- take a long screwdriver and hold it against the engine at different places and put your ear against the handle end. You'll quickly isolate where the sound is coming from (top end or bottom end).

  • It is a spun rod bearing.

  • @ovrboostVR4 sounds kinda like a bent valve. i thought rod knocks were more intense in sound and motor shake?

  • @ovrboostVR4 trust me its a Mitsubishi thing..

  • @ovrboostVR4 did you try changing them from the bottom?

  • @ovrboostVR4 how much did it cost you to repair because my 3000gt is making the same noise

  • @sc1597 I have a 3.0l v6 and its making the same noisew I rev it up to 2.500 rpm and it gets louder so we were told it was something with the camshafts and we had two thoughts of our own 1. It was top of a fuel injector came off or the flywheel was cracked or something so we put a long piece of a broom hand through different parts of the motor and it was coming from the lower driver hand side of the engine block and every few mintues it stops and it hasnt blown the motor yet after heavy pulling.

  • maybe pin piston

  • timing chain

  • ther is alot of these motors on here with knocks

  • Probably a crank shaft bearing is shot.

  • used to have the same car a 91 sl 5 speed, lifter went down and sold it to somebody in canada before it blew up

  • Sounds like the piston is slapping

  • FUCK RICERS...
