Ok people, by making Alan lip sync enter the scene, it wasnt because they mistook him for Dave, or anything like that. They all sing along to it at some point. Havent you ever seen another music video wherethe other band members are "singing" instead of the lead? Yeah, there you go. Amazing song <3

jep... thats right. and rumour is, that the band was too afraid to put things right, because they didnt had the time/money to produce a second version with gahan in focus. so they left it like that. although the track is my all time dm-favourite, dm themselves never seemed to like it though. they never played it live in recent years.

@thosch71 Not really, according to wikipedia (and I remember it from an interview ages ago), the director assumed Wilder was the singer and the band members were too afraid/embarrassed to tell him he was not. Just like the typical gay emo teen nowadays, they were weak and spineless.

The director of the vid thought Alan was the singer when he saw them. The band was too embarassed to argue with him, so they went ahead with it. I guess because he was a new director of their videos, they didn't want to correct him and piss him off or something.
