Finally, at 4:58 you surmise that the park is in many towns - but it's actually in the one you didn't mention - Perinton. At 4:54, there used to be tennis courts and this is where we hung out. At the far corner of this field was a great place to swim in the creek at a corner where the water was deep enough to jump into. My first day of my senior year, (PMHS '79), me and some buds skipped school and started our day with a kegger in this park. Thanks for the memories...
The little "plateau" on the right at 4:38 used to be a side dirt road loop up and off the road, then back down onto it. Many, many rowdies used to park here - so the town closed it off. I remember there used to be an unmarked cop car which was a Dodge Dart (and a clunker too) that they used to go after speeders with. The thing was so damn slow that most guys would just blow it away as they sped out of the park.
There was a trail off of the field at 4:18 that goes up to Lake Lacoma which was a hidden lake that I never discovered until I was 14. It's private (but we swam in it anyway).
The hill on the left at 4:02 was known as Hermit's Hill and actually had a small house or two on top that someone really lived in. They were up there in the early seventies but were gone before the end of that decade - you may still find remanants of the foundations up there.
All of the lodges that you see used to have these tremendous high school keg parties in them. They used to call them TKBs (Tappa Kegga Brew) and would actually put up posters for them in the school halls. These would usually be put on by seniors and a couple of bucks would buy you all the beer you could drink. Boy are those days gone... how I never knew anyone who died is amazing. Some hilarous adventures for sure.
Great video, I have lots to add and have to break it up in order to meet the 500 character limit, hope you don't mind...
Here's some more history of the park from the 70's... The ski hill at 00:40 used to have a ski jump on it which they got rid of because too many people got hurt on it. Behind the ski jump, there used to be a big open ski area that had a lift for the skiers.
Hey I've been right down those roads when we went to visit our freinds in Rochester. We stopped at the fish hatchery and I saw the little ski area. And another time I saw the mushroom houses.
i love that park i always hick there with my dogs
