  • @garyemorin That Airplane is not a commercial flight is privately owned therefore it does not use the Terminal or any gates, back then before all the Runway and Taxiway modifications at the Lexington Airport the place where Airport operations decided to park them is right next to the other 747 that you see and in order to get there they had to Taxi to the end of Rwy 26 exit at the end and come back on the parallel Taxiway he was just following the instructions from the Ground controllers.

  • what a wasted time and ignorence on the post landing taxing to the gates: from the the camera's point: plane taxes on t- way closest to the camera, back the full length of the runway, crosses the runway, taxies back down the far side of the runway, down to the runout end of the rnwy, than once again turns back to the right. a zig zag!! why not just cut across? look close to the elevations of the plane while it is taxing.........

  • @garyemorin The taxi way it took, is the only taxi way on that side of the runway. It crossed the runway, and parked on the General Aviation runway. A much shorter runway.

  • How long is the strip in Lexington?

  • my right ear feels lonely

  • Thanks....excel.

  • I heard everyone with a private jet was proud of theirs until his landed..

He has two...one for his entourage and one for the horses.

  • @mm7777777 That statement is incorrect, there are two brothers, each fly in in a separate private 747, none of the airplanes are used to transport the horses, The horses they buy normally stay at a large farm they have in Lexington, and when they travel normally fly via a dedicated Air cargo company that handles horses such as Fed Ex or UPS, sometimes they do bring a Gulfstream to run erands while they are in Lexington such as bringing in food from restaurants in NY and stuff like that.

  • I love planes, realy, but this i's most ugly plane ever...

  • @DodoSkydrums - exactly right - it's stupid to hav most plane UGLY white - they trying to hide in the clouds ?

why can't they paint em orange - red - or even rainbow ?

  • @khalid6591, I'm not sure which jets you're claiming to see, especially as you live in Dubai (like me) as the first of these jets belonged to the Al Nahyan family and flew out of AUD (Abu Dhabi International). Only the second one was owned by the Al Maktoum family and hasn't been seen in DXB for over 7 years now.

  • Airframe 23610 which was either the plane landing or the one seen holding (both planes were from the UAE) was sold to Bahrain in November of 2006, where it remains in service to the ruling family. It was the last SP ever to be built.

They also owned 21963 and may still do so as it is unclear as to whether it was sold or simply leased in 2004.

  • Wow....very nice. Very nice indeed.

    Thank you for uploading.

  • this airplane is the most beautiful and impressive aeronautic thing on our planet. !

  • I saw this one (if not this one) during the Keeneland Sales when my sister worked for Taylor Made Farms it was massive.

  • i saw this plane parked after I landed on september 26. I thought, cool. A 747 at this airport.

  • Can we please forbid these planes to land here until the terrorism stops? Maybe confiscating their planes and horse farms would send a message.

  • @lexlaw007 No we cant forbid the planes to land. And confiscating their planes and horse farms would not send a message.

  • @lexlaw007 considering the UAE isnt behind the terrorism, your statement is just plain retarded and offensive

  • @lexlaw007 try that and see what will happen ???

  • @lexlaw007 Great idea!!! Than they will stop selling us oil, and we will see $20/gallon gas prices and our economy will be in ruins. You're such a genius!!!!

  • @lexlaw007 what a dumb thing to say

  • @johnnyfarnham It was actually nicknamed DUMBO (as opposed to Jumbo) because it looked so short and thick

  • I worked on the ramp for Comair {Delta Air Lines} on this day . I watched this plane land . I was sitting on the taxiway C- Charlie in a tug , Not much room to land this plane in Lexington on a 6500 ft. runway at the time , ALOT of dust and dirt flying up. Watched the flight attendents and Shiek eventually get off this plane during Keeneland Horse Sales . Amazing site to see in person!

  • @BrandonKY81 BTW 7,000 feet, not 6,500.

  • Um, I recommend a tripod.. way to shaky..

  • saw your comment on another video asking what it was and where it was from its from:

the Dubai air wing they transport VIP's and diplimates from the UAE

  • UGLY!!!!

  • Go to KLEX when the World Horse Games come. TONS of planes. Im going spotting with my dad

  • @bluepanther1011 I wouldn't count on it. It's not going to be as big as they have made it out to be.

  • How much do you think the two Arab brothers from the UAE pay per gallon to fuel this baby up? :o)

  • I was on approach when this happened... had to wait a while for wake turb.

  • Do you have the takeoff? I would love to see it. The SP's rotate so much sooner than the 747-1,2,3 and 400's as well as the A380's of course (piece of crap that it is). Thanks for posting this gem. Now only 16 -SP's left in the world after SAA retired one in Maluti not long ago...sadly.

  • to onecunningfox:

Excuse me!?!?!?! "the A380's piece of crap that it is" ( you make me laugh a lot!!! ) and it feels like some resentment toward this technical marvel !!!

Boeing likes to stretch, shorten, elevate, flatten, and so on... 747 (Very good airplane by the way) It reached a point at which you think, I put a couple of floats, to keep it going. Project initiated about 1966, c´mon it´s time to design something really new !!! and guarantee another 44 years of success. Boeing can!

  • Why do you say the A380 a "technical marvel"? Please explain, I woudl like to hear 5 good reasons at least (in order to be a "technical marvel"). It has proved to be a "technical disaster". By this time in its life the 747 reached 100 deliveries (with issues worked out) vs the A380's 20 or so and endless nigtmare of fuel transfer and wiring issues.

Also, why should Boeing design something big that is "new"? The 747-8 is fine. Why go broke like EADS with the A380 + A400M? Forget it.

  • You´re American I suppose! OK you´r right!!! I would never, ever! try to explain the benefits of EADS. The A400 what for?if the 55 Y/O C130 still sells! Furthermore,if the 747-8 is a good plane(as I really also believe IS!) Why wasting time saying: "the A380 "piece of crap that it is"? If never in the life, gonna solve the fuel and wiring issues!as Boeing do with those 1st 100 delivered 47-1 that for nearly a year flew waiting for more powerful eng. as to leave the fact with a little overweight

  • I am 1/2 American and 1/2 British. My wife is Italian. I am so happy that we moved away from Europe and our tax money is not wastd on Sarkozynomics and wasteful EADS projects - namely the A340, A380 and A400M. If anything, BRING BACK THE A300! I used to fly the A300 as a matter of fact. I have flown commerically for 17, almost 18 years. I fly to your country, Argentina, too. Beautiful place - one fo my favourites. Ok friend - I still await reasons as to why the A380 is a "technical marvel"....

  • @onecunningfox We have two different points of view, and now feel that´s meaningless to discuss about Airbus...By the reaction that made me read your comment about the 380 haha! I forget that I was watching this video about the SP a variant of 747 whom I always love them! On its MTOW was a pioneer in long-haul flights then lightly loaded as you can see here, operates in the same RWYs in which a 737 does!!!

Now u told me that were living in Europe,I understand your regardings about ur taxs

  • Did you get my video? What did you think?

  • u love airbus or boeing i love boeing more

  • If it aint a Boeing I aint going!

  • LOL

  • u meant 1235

  • The 74-SP was designed to fly higher and farther than the regular 74-1 and 200. This was a demand by Pan Am to have the aircraft be able to fly JFK-NRT (Tokyo) and SFO/LAX to SYD and AKL non-stop. South African used it too - LHR to Johannesburg. They wee also made to land and TO from short runways. That said, it appears a -400 was holding waiting for its turn to depart on the same runway. So it cant be that short, alto' I am not from KY and dont know.

  • A 747 lightly loaded can operate from a 7,000 foot runway without alot of trouble.

  • I believe the SP is retired and replaced with a -400 series. Both of been here for the sales, plus their 738.

  • Allmost sure it was the first week of September

  • @exceljet it was

  • Yeah, sounds about right because Runway 8/26 is closed now and torn up, and Taxiway 'F' Foxtrot is also removed for construction of the new runway 9/27.

  • what month would you say this was in?

  • I'm not sure, I took this video in 2003 I think, I belive they replaced that SP with another -400 Series

  • @exceljet They had two. One went on to become Benny Hinn's and the other one went on to become the 747 for Sands Corp in Vegas. Not sure which one this is though but it is one of the two.

  • @exceljet I visually saw the 747SP at Blue Grass Airport a couple weeks ago for the fall sales. It's currently parked at Louisville-Standiford International for the WEG (World Equestrian Games in Lexington for the folks who aren't from here).

  • @exceljet still they have both the sp and the 400 i live in Dubai near the airport i can see them every day going to work

  • @exceljet Well, a -400 offers more space of course.....

  • What's the actual date of these landings?
