  • Linus has 8 of these!

  • @JonahhChavarria Any hard drive or ssd*

  • @JonahhChavarria You can plug any hard drive in any port, its just if you plug them into the intel sata port youll get faster speeds.

  • Aloud *

  • Quick question to anyone, I bought the corsair force gt 60gb ssd. Now if its sata lll will it only work with a sata 3gb cable or could it work with a sata 6gb cable, and also defining which sata ports its slowed in to sata3/sata6 sorry if my question is confusing ,all of this is still new too me

  • @JonahhChavarria All sata cables are the exact same and transfer the same amount of data at the same speed. And check in your motherboard manual to see if your motherboard supports sata 3 (6 gb/s). If your using an intel platform, try and get your ssd plugged into a port which is running off of the intel chipset, which you can find in the motherboard manual,.

  • @sgatti27 yeah im using the 6gb cable and its fine. I do have a intel sata port, 2 in fact. Can i plug my harddrives in that port? including my ssd.

  • This guys is beast about computers, helps me compare parts :)

  • Is there a interface SATA cable included?

  • is it trim??

  • @Temisdas y

  • i with i could rob linus' house but hes too far away :(

  • which should i get? Intel 40gb or kingston 64gb v100 or Corsair force f60 60gb?

  • @akmalrosli corsair F60, they are the fastest

  • The Sandforce controller is "cheating" because it is using data compression. This enables it to show higher read/write values on compressible files. But this advantage disappears on non-compressible files such as RARs and MP3s.

  • @BernardPY So this mean the Indilinx controller is actually faster?

The Corsair V64 with Indilinx Barefoot is less than $30 more than the F60 Sandforce reviewed here.

  • @MasterNaruto1214

Not necessarily. It means that the Sandforce controller is not always as fast as it may look in benchmarks. When comparing SSD and controller performance, I mostly ignore performance on compressible files, because the data I keep on my system are mostly videos and music files.

In addition, I am not too keen about repetitive and incessant compression/decompression of data. Could errors creep in over time? I prefer my data to stay "au naturel"...

  • @BernardPY Crap,i just grabbed a Corsair F60,it's very similar to the OCZ Vertex 2,which gets very good reviews, but the Corsair is about $25 cheaper.

  • who's holding the cam ?

  • @Bilijar9 Chest hang cam

  • im thinking of buying the 180gb one, would any1 recommend it?

  • @124Z312 i would only recommend buying a small one for windos & programs, 40 gig is ok. games just put them in a big ol' hdd

  • is this faster than the Intel SSDs?

  • @TheGreenSmoke The Force series (60/120GB) from Corsair and the Vertex 2 series (60/120GB) from OCZ are the fastest ones atm,

  • @zalmanusa yeah, I ended up buying a 120GB Corsair Force

  • @TheGreenSmoke Good for you! I think I'm gonna go with 60GB Vertex 2, but I'm too insecure to purchase right now.

  • ordered this monday afternoon got it today awsome.

  • haha i got that screw driver!!!!

  • Thanx for the vid. Gonna buy me an F60 tomorrow. Hopefully the crappy JMicron JMB363 Controller that I have to attach it to doesn´t eat too much of the drives performance^^

  • UPDATE: Ok, seems the JMicron controller just sucks^^ Didn´t achieve more than 145.000 write or read speed with the ATTO Benchmark, while the Intel controller brings me 270.000-290.000!

  • Linus how about doing up a review on the OCZ Revodrive? It would be nice to see actual performance, not opening the box or anything. Say OS boot up, a DVD rip, stuff like that? Also how it compares against the Vertex SSD and Velociraptor or other similar HDD? Thanks.

  • How much cache has this SSD ?

  • @Gpanos0S0 It has no cache it uses Sandforce DuraWrite technology. Google it :)

  • Is this the drive to get? I need some info fast, I keep hearing about trim, smart, sand force blah, blah. What I need is a reliable ssd that will not stutter or go belly up on me and it needs to have enough space to comfortably handle windows 7 + minor apps, I have 2 modern hdds already to handle my games/media storage. WD 1TB and 640GB black edition drive. If anyone can suggest some alternate ssd's maybe with more capacity or less price would be great. OR AGAIN, is this indeed the one to get?

  • @donaldosmond Yes it is the one to get. It has the new Sandforce controller.

  • are you from canada?

  • Your hang gestures are awesome, rofl..........

  • @161someone I'm afraid to ask exactly what a hang gesture is.

  • @Haksu77 the kington $250 v seies has some stuttering issues *cough Newegg reviews cough*, so there are game playing issues.

  • you seamed pissed

  • You can setup a ssd and 3.5" drive into Raid 0 can't you?

  • @Tantoblade1pd No you can only set up a ssd and another ssd in raid 0. Only alike drives can do raid 0. HDD w/ HDD and SSD w/ SSD

  • @soccersport

    Oh i understand, very interesting.

    Thanks for the feedback.

  • Hard drive unboxings are so boring, but very informative.

  • Ouch 200$ but i want a SSD so bad :P

  • newegg was selling some 60 gb ssd for 99 dollars!!

  • How Often Does A SSD Fail On Average Do You Think It Would Be Worth It To Replace All My Drives With Them

  • @pinkprince3000 Don't think it will be too cheap to do that..

  • @BlueBajs I Know It Wouldn't Be That Cheap But I Would Want To Know If Out Of Like Ten Which How Good My Chances Would BE That One Would Fail

  • @pinkprince3000 I Like How You Type Like This. It's Very Classy.

  • what's up with all the drive unboxing?

  • @FELIX0123 well he usually uses a drive unboxing to explain the technology in a drive. I find them very interesting, I never knew what made the Sandforce controller so special until now, I only knew that it was good.

  • Woah, is that like a cap mounted camera, Linus? Mind telling us how you got view?

  • @forgottenpains he just hangs the camera from his neckband:D

  • The first person unboxing was rather cool.

  • WOW Nice! HOw Much is IT?

  • @VladsGFX 180 euros......

  • @using192 Wow Ok!

  • @VladsGFX 200$ at newegg

  • linus has an ssd fetish methinks lol

  • ocz ssd > corsair ssd

  • @gitarzann : best ssd is pcieSSD by fusion-io used at enterprise level

  • Corsair is beast at everything lol.

Just not pricing, but it worth it for its quality.

  • GIVEAWAY

  • @chunchuck2000 You wish haha

  • i love Corsair. I got most off their Products except the SSD's

  • Less Over Provisioning takes the drive longer to recover from intense use. So it is a trade off for more space versus quicker recovery of performance.

  • Sandforce controller still needs lots of work to fix all the bugs! They still have not released a toolbox for it yet either!

  • i <3 Corsair

  • givaway givaway givaway !!!

  • can you do a video that shows how to upgrade graphics card bios?

  • eh linus? how you hold your cam when you unbox your things with two hands?

  • @XraWanja He's god. Now go sub him!

  • @XraWanja

the camera probably is around his neck and just dangling.

  • @XraWanja He uses telekinesis to handle the camera.

  • @evildwarf i also think so but i don´t know if linus that knows ^^. He got a com in his eyes

    ^^xD

  • 102!

  • now im going to buy one of this ssd series

  • I think you would be able to mount this drive using a bottom mounting system - just turn the drive 90 degrees. Would the holes match up?

  • how about a special episode because you got 400+ videos

  • nice

  • 4th!

  • Third :)

  • 3rd :)

  • 2nd!

  • first
