Quick question to anyone, I bought the corsair force gt 60gb ssd. Now if its sata lll will it only work with a sata 3gb cable or could it work with a sata 6gb cable, and also defining which sata ports its slowed in to sata3/sata6 sorry if my question is confusing ,all of this is still new too me
@JonahhChavarria All sata cables are the exact same and transfer the same amount of data at the same speed. And check in your motherboard manual to see if your motherboard supports sata 3 (6 gb/s). If your using an intel platform, try and get your ssd plugged into a port which is running off of the intel chipset, which you can find in the motherboard manual,.
The Sandforce controller is "cheating" because it is using data compression. This enables it to show higher read/write values on compressible files. But this advantage disappears on non-compressible files such as RARs and MP3s.
Not necessarily. It means that the Sandforce controller is not always as fast as it may look in benchmarks. When comparing SSD and controller performance, I mostly ignore performance on compressible files, because the data I keep on my system are mostly videos and music files.
In addition, I am not too keen about repetitive and incessant compression/decompression of data. Could errors creep in over time? I prefer my data to stay "au naturel"...
Thanx for the vid. Gonna buy me an F60 tomorrow. Hopefully the crappy JMicron JMB363 Controller that I have to attach it to doesn´t eat too much of the drives performance^^
UPDATE: Ok, seems the JMicron controller just sucks^^ Didn´t achieve more than 145.000 write or read speed with the ATTO Benchmark, while the Intel controller brings me 270.000-290.000!
Linus how about doing up a review on the OCZ Revodrive? It would be nice to see actual performance, not opening the box or anything. Say OS boot up, a DVD rip, stuff like that? Also how it compares against the Vertex SSD and Velociraptor or other similar HDD? Thanks.
Is this the drive to get? I need some info fast, I keep hearing about trim, smart, sand force blah, blah. What I need is a reliable ssd that will not stutter or go belly up on me and it needs to have enough space to comfortably handle windows 7 + minor apps, I have 2 modern hdds already to handle my games/media storage. WD 1TB and 640GB black edition drive. If anyone can suggest some alternate ssd's maybe with more capacity or less price would be great. OR AGAIN, is this indeed the one to get?
@FELIX0123 well he usually uses a drive unboxing to explain the technology in a drive. I find them very interesting, I never knew what made the Sandforce controller so special until now, I only knew that it was good.
Less Over Provisioning takes the drive longer to recover from intense use. So it is a trade off for more space versus quicker recovery of performance.
Linus has 8 of these!

@JonahhChavarria Any hard drive or ssd*
sgatti27 1 month ago
@JonahhChavarria You can plug any hard drive in any port, its just if you plug them into the intel sata port youll get faster speeds.

@BernardPY So this mean the Indilinx controller is actually faster?
The Corsair V64 with Indilinx Barefoot is less than $30 more than the F60 Sandforce reviewed here.

@BernardPY Crap,i just grabbed a Corsair F60,it's very similar to the OCZ Vertex 2,which gets very good reviews, but the Corsair is about $25 cheaper.

@TheGreenSmoke The Force series (60/120GB) from Corsair and the Vertex 2 series (60/120GB) from OCZ are the fastest ones atm,
