And Lexus's excuse for the airbags NOT deploying? "The vehicle struck the front and rear corners, just below the airbag sensors...The side impact airbags are activated only by pressure sensors in the doors unless otherwise triggered by a roll-over." Remember I hit a flat CONCRETE BARRIER. Also, it seems only a few companies like Merc, BMW, infiniti/Nissan, and Acura/Honda have side airbag sensors that detect major lateral movement...which would have prevented my head/facial injuries. Total crap!

This SUV is a death trap!!. We had a Lexus LX570 for just over 6 months ('10 model, same thing) and after losing control around a freeway offramp corner at 55mph (only 5mph above speed limit, mind you) the VSC only activated (indicated by a loud rapid beeping) AFTER I was almost completely backwards sliding at 50mph. After striking the barriers several times, I was bleeding profusely from my head and mouth since the side/front airbags all failed to deploy. I have pics for anyone interested!

Land Cruiser owns. Land Rover has nothing to say, especially since their reliability ratings are some of the worst in the market according to JD Power. Even Kias, which was once the laughing stock of reliability, and all American brands (except for Jeep, which tied) have better ratings.

@euheide well depends, a regular range rover supercharged, costs more than a fully loaded land cruiser, i built both, im only on colors for the rr and it already at over 95k and the fully loaded toyota is 78k. but a regular rr is a grand more. ppl here mainly compare the lr4 (discovery) to the cruiser. and a fully loaded lr4 is over 64k. so not as expensive as the range rover, but more than its REAL competition, the lr4. hopes that helps

My neighbor has an almost 30 yr old LC he uses in his farm. He doesn't take extra care of the car, in fact, I'd say he's pretty harsh and tough on it, but it still a beastly workhorse that serves him well. It's not the most stylish (in fact i think it's bland), but it is highly effective.

I'd buy one in a heartbeat if I had the money (a bit expensive). As many people here have said, the initial price is cheap, but it repays itself twenty-fold even after decades of hard work and abuse. =)

I doubt they'll discontinue this. It's a flagship brand (together with the Toyota Crown). In fact, the LC saved Toyota's butts in the 1970's when they were about to go bankrupt. This is actually the car that put them back in the game.

We may not see a lot of them here in North America, but in Asia, Africa, Australia, and the middle east, these things are considered popular status symbols (they're pretty damn expensive and you have to wait 4-5 months to actually get your hands on one).

Don't get too worried about the price. although the beast is quite expensive, it'll repay the sticker price twenty-fold due to its reliability and workman-like ruggedness.

These car reviewers are so weak, they are so used to cars that they judge Landcruisers as is they were cars. if you are thinking about twisty roads, acc', top speed then u shouldnt be thinking of a LC. Surely if you live in a remote area, the LC is the Ferarri of the outback, nothing comes close not even the RR. these reviews are inaccurate
