Is wikipedia the best place to find things for a paper? Well I'll be honest I use wiki for reports and I just cite it from another source. Wikipedia is easily the best source,but that maybe 10% of information that's fudged slightly no one cares about. Wikipedia is away for someone to get a good idea on what something is about and be able to speak about it to a friend. Yet to be an expert on something you actually have to kill the time to go out and buy a book.

Wikipedia is probly the best place to look up stuff, but in order to hold accountable the link to your class, as in report a thesis paper with citation of wikipedia will never and probly should never be done. Wikipedia can be edited by your teacher, your friend, your enemy. Meaning, 2 mins ago, you cited the info you typed on your thesis paper. Who knows? maybe in 5+mins later, that cited info you got is no longer on that page (though people can lock a topic, so IDK).

What your suggesting is deleting a good source, a 1 source that holds plenty of info, which should be deleted or ban, will more likely force browsers to look all over the W.WW for sites (not site, but sites) to find a certain info.

Why does everyone have a problem with Wikipedia? They're super stringent about having sources and citations.

As for payment, that's tougher. Honestly, something like that thing (I forget what it was called) where you could offer up money for people to answer your questions might work pretty well. However, I think it might work better if you pooled money, as an individual could just refuse to pay.

As an editor of wikipedia you see a lot of crap on pages. First problem is that you can cite a book and unless the people who are checking the facts have the book they can't remove it. Therefore there is a lot of lies in wikipedia. Trust me people cite books all the time and you can't verify it. Then they are pages like Jean Chretien which the section of personal life has not one cite. NEVER USE WIKIPEDIA FOR RESEARCH.

Wikipedia is good, but its not the greatest, or the best yet. They have many flaws, and they seem to focus more on certain "rules" they have rather than adding some common sense here and there. But that's what you get when many people who edit may be un-educated in the first place.

These people are idiots being used as slaves by the men who run the dinners in the basements and cook the food. The cook always gets paid well, and he uses the volunteers as his tools to wash dishes, while paying them nothing, even though he gets paid. It's similar to wikipedia where idiots volunteer due to altruism, while jimmy gets paid.
