yes. in fact, it's vitally important to let your ferret out to play. they're like dogs: they need daily social interaction.

our ferret comes out at least 3 times a day.

just make sure the area is secure and no poisons he can get into =)

I would suggest to introduce the dog(s) and ferret in a closed, neutral environment so the dog doesn't feel threatened. Slowly introduce them and make sure you closely supervise them. Good luck ! P.S I have 2 dogs,3 ferrets and 2 cats, they get along fine !

My dog plays with my ferret, but if the ferret gets too close, then my dog gets uncomfortable.

However, my dog is now in heat and he tries to hump the ferret. The ferret really doesn't like it and he tried attacking the dogs throat twice.

I'd say it's because ferrets are born killing machines. Their bites are as painful as the average dog (albeit concentrated into one point, trust me, I've been bitten by mine) and they never give up in fights (as well as having a scent similar to skunks if scared).

That, and my ferrets got loose once and scared the hell out of my neighbor's dogs after it investigated it and attacked it, which would make me think they like to be dominant..

Not bad for a little creature only a foot long, eh?

omg, that's so cute. I always let my freind's pitbull play with my two ferrets. He gets to scared of them when they start chasing him. it's so funny how this "big-tough- man-eating" dog gets scared of two little curious ferrets.
