Johnny, my friend, compare the part 1.22-1.28 to the piece, I suggested. You should be able to recognize the original until moment 2.07, when Giorgio Moroder starts to "modulate" the theme. A lot of pieces of classical music has been the inspiration for popular music and also in this case.
Johnny, my friend: none taken. I just wanted to give credit to the one, who deserve it most - even if I like Giorgio Moroders version too. And, for what it is worth: I would not mind playing duet with Virginia at any time!
To rmir2 I heard dozen of times both versions of the commposers, songs and I am still believe that the right version is the one I told you about ; the Canons, Pachelbel. I sincery believe this is the correct version. Anyway I don,t want be desrespectfull or arrogant because I am not none of these things and I respect your opinion very much so. Meanwhile let us enjoy this angelic music . My best regards .
So you're telling an Art Historian that attribution never changes... Interesting. You're wrong. As I said, at the time this film was released, it was ascribed to J.S. Bach. It has since undergone re-attribution. There is a nice citation about it in Wiki. It is also resourced in Grove Music. I will once again say it for the learning impaired... This piece was credited to Bach when the movie was released. It has gone under RE-ATTRIBUTION. Sorry folks, this happens a lot in academia.
I am sorry to tell you this rmir2 , but this song is not from Bach but from Pachelbel and the name of the song is Canon . I have just the album of this composer and the song in front of me and it sounds exactly like this one we ear here . Meanwhile chack out in youtube for the song canon you will see composers, name Anyway is a lovely song and I love it to bits ! My best regards !

Rmir2 is correct; the inspiration behind this piece is credited to Bach.

At the time the film was produced, this was the case. But attribution has changed (tentatively) to Christian Petzold.

Pt. 2: Yes, it still carries the designation of BWV only because of the tenuous nature of the attribution.
