They were like shallow soap opera people on drugs. Kinda disappointing. But maybe they left the best parts out of the film and only mentioned the bigger events like abandoning stark naked/ naked star or whartever.
such a understated movie. but without these people the hippie generation would of never happen really. the greatest music of all time was in 60's and it fueled by LSD
@blackcinnamon like you said to each their own, hopefully though you will grow out of your hippie phase, all the hippies nowdays are middle class and very closed minded, teenage rebellion etc.
@2xnkote I'm actually very open minded and liberal. I've never heard of hippies being close minded, that's more what the conservative and super religious folks are. xD And despite the stereotypes, I actually contribute to society, I'm working on a college degree, donate to charities, recycle, I'm active on change.org, whatever I can do and things most "normal" people don't do (or don't see the value in). My views might change when the world stops being so greedy, hateful, and violent. :(
@blackcinnamon you do not need to explain yourself to me, and I am sure you are a thoughtful, caring and kind person, however where I live hippies tend to all be middle class idiots rebelling from their parents cos they are slumming it in the shit part of the city, take loads of drugs, goto raves and be very bigotted. They say they care about enviroment and all that stuff but don't do anything about it, trust fund hippies.
@2xnkote Well everyone's different. Yeah, I've done the drugs, but I've recently quit. The fear of ending up in prison is what finally got to me, but I don't regret any of it. Those sound more like junkies than hippies to me though. I've hung out with several different "drug crowds" and not all of them are great people. I can agree with that. But the ideas of the original hippies are very inspiring. At least to me. :)
When i think of the 60s i think about the evil things the government did against my people. The 60s were only happy for white people. Everyone else had to struggle and African American hardly had any rights.
@BeautifulLoveHearts when these people were on their trip, King was alive and spreading his message across the country. This was a time when America was changing - for the better. America was ready and willing to accept new ways of living.
While African Americans are more free now days, the spirit of freedom from that age is chained by the rich and in charge. A trip like this would leave everyone on the bus spending more time in jail than a child molester simply because of their weed.
84, what's the problem? I would buy the DVD, so I would then have a copy of the movie to see over and over again. What is so wrong with that? Don't get it. And I have done acid a few times. Read my last post, longtime Deadhead, 30 years. And as far as what I meant by " other fine folks ", all the other Pranksters that I couldn't remember. Man, oh man. Some people.
Look at these hipsters! If this were to be done today it would be called the Samsung Trip Wagon or some nonsense and starry eyed young marketing majors would go town to town in a plush tour bus schilling the latest smart phone.
@Modestoney because things HAVE changed for the better... many of the things they were fighting for have been generally overcome.. we currently have new issues sprouting that need to be taken care of in our time. why waste the enjoyment you might receive from all the action and excitement this time and the future has to offer?
If you want to get unlimited free films, then go to any search engine and search yslides. We have films still in theatres and much much more. Come enjoy!!!
This movie had its first post-Sundance showing in Eugene Oregon. At the same time of the premiere, just a few hundred yards away, my freind was busted for marijuana possession. While the entire city of Eugene was celebrating one of its heroes who is famous for turning people on to drugs, my friend was being cited by the cops for drugs. Fucking hypocrisy. Kesey would not approve.
Refrigerator, stove, a sink, bunk racks, blankets, acid, speed, grass - with Hagen handling the movie camera and everybody on microphones and the music blaring out over the roar of the bus, rock n' roll, and the speakers wail, and the mandolin and the weird laugh wails, and the variable lag wails-ails-ails-ails-ails-ails-ails......can't wait to see this
There is good reason why Keasy filmed this and it was laying on the shelf for almost 50 years (isn't that a shock? The 60's at 50!): It was considered extremely taboo. And it's a safe bet this wouldn't of happened had not President Kennedy gotten killed-because that's the important thing about the decade (the montage of going from 50's housewife to Martin Luther King at the start of the trailer is an example). I'm shocked that Alison Eastwood is one of the directors.
What a cool video this is ...I like it....93 people are missing the boat and trip.....to bad for them....ha ha ha......I really enjoyed this video...Thanks my dear friend.
@xllClouDllx haha well actually i like the fact that they use barely any make up since there probably wasn't much like nowadays. though their hair is a bit off my taste. well i only like straight hair. so.. lol
@MrGrevy funny, didn't even know that movie until u mentioned it. Though movie like this that tries too hard to be artistic seem unimportant to me. but since you're the kind of guy to end a youtube-comment with "Disgraceful" you'll probably enjoy it with a glass wine. and discuss with your self-important friends how the movie have such a original and refreshing view on the cultural development during the 60/70-ties. Disgraceful.
@daganisoraan When did I compare it to Ke$ha? Learn to read. I said it reminds me of Ke$ha. And I don't see why my age or any other age would have an affect on that.
@GerardGedMurphy Because you are 15 and most of your generation has no clue about what the 60's where about. Your mind is soaked with all the bullshit society these days have thrown at you, same as when i grew up. Other than that your comment seems fine. Even though i don't know why it reminds you of kesha.
