damn that's impressive! the scary thing is, if he had a trainer that actually knew what was going on and could take care of the knees buckling in just prior to the explosion, he'd probably get another inch or two!
dude. the 54" is legit. Once you start hugging the wall, it loses it special aura. If you can't land on the box controlled, then it shouldn't be a box jump, nice high jump though.
You have hops for certain, as do I. this is not the highest recorded box jump ever.

If you experience regular symptoms of jealousy, anger or hate towards talented hard working individuals If u have prejudices towards them in your obscurantism, if u live in a psychological restricted barrier n think that their effort doesn't count Cse they're efficient sport achievers, if u think greatness is a sin, then you must be affected by the disease of INFERIORITY COMPLEX. so Call EFFORTLAB. today for a free diagnosis 877-556-556
By CrossFit standards (which he is probably not going by), a successful box jump is landing on the box flat footed, pausing and fully extending the hips before coming back down. Like a lot of other people said, this doesn't take away from the height he's clearing, but if he wasn't grabbing the wall I'm sure he'd be bouncing on and off. NOT standing, NOT extending hips.
Very nice :D Reminds me of the olympic powerlifters we have at the school. Couple pics they have posted on the walls of 175 pd or so guys jumping close to the height of a basketball net. Seen 300 pounders who can make 6 feet explosive jumps straight up too. Makes sense if I guess they have to explosively lift 3-400 pds above their heads on a regular basis. Hell i can barely jump up stairs myself much less over 170cm stack of boxes lol!
He was grabbing because he couldn't lean forward on the landing to stick it, due to lack of space. Those were all great jumps. That's not a competition, there are no judges there, just a guy testing his box jumps. Unless you have a video of your box jumps, and you don't, please don't talk about "the way you do it".
@monvalhut No, he's not a friend of mine - I don't have a fecking clue who he is. I'm simply pointing out, that he needs to grab the wall unless he wants to break his neck. He only grabs the wall ONCE THE JUMP HAS BEEN COMPLETED, YOU MORON. So no, he's doing it to make sure he doesn't smash his face in - if your so confident, post a video of you 61" box jump WITHOUT any kind of help.
@monvalhut once again, hes only holding on to stop the boxes collapsing underneath the forces, it's simple logic and physics. The holding on isonly done AFTER the jump exercution has been completed. I think somebodies a little jealous judging by the way your talking.
Although I will admit it is impressive. I have to call fault on every jump.... as in you did not make any of them. In my eyes (and the way I do it), there is nothing to grab on to at the top. If you can't make the jump without a pillar to grab then you can't make the jump.
have you ever had a vert test if so what was it because jumping over stuff is cool but it dosent count as you jumping because your not jumping straight
seriously dude, being a basketball player, i think this is one of the most impressive things ive ever seen. you'd kill at dunking on the court man. how tall are you??
You should have said 69inch bar jump because you cleared it. You just skimmed it when you was coming down but you still cleared it. Whats the highest height that you've cleared? I wanna see you dunk man.
He has a unique combination of explosiveness and a light frame. I wonder what the perfect power output to bodyweight ratio is for elite jumpers. As long as his feet land on the surface of the box, im not going to nitpick over him grabbing something for stability. He's a great jumper and deserves the props. Nice job.
@toddadonis not grabbing the wall would probably take around a foot off of his height. im not taking the fact that he's a great jumper away from him. just saying that really he's cheating himself.
@Tweakz5555 Unless your counting the validity of the jump on whether or not he stays on the box without assistance, then your statement wouldnt really be true. His feet still have to reach that height to land, even before he grabs for balance, so technically, he achieves the same result regardless. Just depends on what criteria your going by.
@toddadonis as far as I'm aware. the criteria for box jumping is maintaining your balance on the box / or whatever shape or form you are jumping onto. that is what seperates box jumping from bar jumping.
Actually his feet aren't completly planted before he grabs the pole! Watch it in slow mo. I'm not sayn he can't jump but he is technically cheating the exercise. He grabs the pole even on the lower heights and that cheat the exercise by not allowing your core to completely stabalize. No hatin but try it without grabbing something then post it. U will get more respect
He grabs the pole because he can't lean forward on the landing to properly stick it, the pole gets in his way. If this was a free box and not against the wall he would make that jump with no problem again. Your "i'm not sayn he can't jump", "no hatin" doesn't make you any less of a jealous fuck.
@billysue2 bullshit, the best jumpers do not have thin legs, box jumping is all about explosive power, how you train, mainly squats used to train up to this exercize, and if you eat well while squatting your legs automatically grow
@kantutu they usually dont have big legs or big anything, they are just explosive, lots of ft fibres, favourable fibre orientation and frame proportions.Youd never know the best jupers even trained by appearance.Squats help beginners jump higher, then dont help advanced much, its general training for jups, not specific
ok folks if u look hes grabbing the pole AFTER his feet are planted on the top platform so hes not pulling himself up hes stablizing so he doesnt fall backwards. I swear...HATERS NEVER PROSPER!! hes good so get over it.
stfu who eva says it doesnt count cause he holds on to the beam, none of u probably nver or ever will jumped on stacks those high so u dont kno what its like. its unstable
I can't believe the below comments are questioning the jump. You are having to land on an unstable, narrow platform and not smash ur face into the pillar. Explosive and skillful! Springy son-of-a-bitch!!!
He's grabbing on to the support beam behind the box and pulling himself up the last little bit, so calling it a "world record" doesn't really seem fair.
@Tweakz5555 It doesn't just look like that will happen, that would have happened. Good and proper cheating there; and honest person would probably show bouncing off at their limit or something, but he can't because it's not possible when he clings to the pillar for dear life.
I just decided I wanted to improve my vert, 2 weeks ago started using Luka Hocever training tips and ive improved my vert by 3 inches. Anyways im on week 2, 2 footed box jump - 23.5 inches, say what you like, but only way is up, and this is motivation.
The 69 inch jump was aboslutely phenomenal. I'm not sure if that 61 inch box jump would count since it looked like u grabbed onto the wall afterwards. You seem to jump high enough to be able to do it anyway, but I don't think any sort of hand support is allowed.
lol well why dont you try to jump 61 inches in the air and land on a surface that is about a foot wide. he has to have something to stop the momentum.
damn i thought i was doing good lol. Thats amazing.. I only get like 16 pads think i counted 32 for him. I also just started yesterday. Umm if you could gimme any tips it would be appreciated.
wow, watchin this really inspired me 2 jump higher. My video rite now is nutthin at all but i know i can get up higher by loukin at my legs. I wish u the best of luck on gettin higher

Come on man!.. Is that a joke?...I was dunking in 10th grade. I was blessed with hops, and hard work took me he rest of the way. I was also a 7 foot high jumper in college...
Damn, there's gotta be something wrong here... a sudden change of Earth's gravity or something.
But really, how much do you squat and deadlift if you don't mind me asking? And how long do you spend on stretching, since it's obvious that other than your mind-boggling vertical you're also flexible? By the way, what's you standing/drop-step vert?
damn that's impressive! the scary thing is, if he had a trainer that actually knew what was going on and could take care of the knees buckling in just prior to the explosion, he'd probably get another inch or two!

THANKS FOR THE COMMENT. BOTH MY SQUAT AND DEADLIFT ARE IN THE 500lb -600lb RANGE, DEPENDING ON HOW HARD I AM TRAINING AT THE TIME.
STRETCHING-7 DAYS A WEEK, ABOUT 30-40 MINUTES A DAY.
