When I said "This is the shite! :)" THAT USUALLY MEANS I THINK IT'S GOOD YOU FUCKING RETARD. Now shut up and enjoy the fucking music you tard.

  • @Dannyrocksass if you say this is shite everybody will think it is bad, dont say this is shite when its good you have to learn that ... no offense

  • @marcvie9 I DIDN'T FUCKING SAY THIS IS SHITE I SAID THIS IS THE SHITE, THAT FUCKING MEANS I THINK ITS AWESOME. FUCKING RETARD.

  • @SaorAlbaComingSoon I take it you don't like the song? Fuck off back to your Justin Bieber, this is real music not your shitty pop music!

  • one of my faves. Many thanks

  • i;ll tell ya what the bloke can write a song !

  • Sounds like that corn song.

  • Shane's music's been in our family since I was little. I'm 16 now and still can't believe that music this good still exists.

  • @kitadefan007

    It's just not MADE anymore.

  • This is the shite! :)

  • "Irish music is dance music that bypasses the intelect and hits you right in the gut."

  • Wow. I love this

  • Noone writes or sings lovesongs like Shane does! He`s a genious! I`m 44 and hear his music since 26 years!!!

  • Shane MacGowen is a gentleman you could never meet the like of him and I love him

  • Shane MacGowan is still the sexiest man alive

  • I made the same mistake a mhac. It's tough going

  • After all these years of most unservicable abuse the only conclusion that I can come up with concerning Mr. Macgowan's improbably continuing existence is that whatever demons that dog and snap at his heels with every waking step are kept at bay by the protective ministering of angels who cradle his lolling head upon his passing out. Much love for Shane...the people's poet.

  • A lot of people love MacGowan.

  • Till I'm dead and buried, also.

  • "He doesn't write music. He allows the music to flow through him"

  • all the fucking modern idiots like ga ga and britney and take that , spend thousands of pounds trying to publicise their songs and make expensive music videos to get people listening and interested, but shane macgowan does it so effortlessly like taking a piss, he is raw tallent.... what a fucking LEGEND!

  • it was a Hyperbole expression. if perfection is to be not messed with then near perfection should be messed with less

  • @harrybythesea how am I as stupid bastard? what error did I make?

  • Till I'm dead and buried in my grave, my love will never end.

  • i was brash...

  • wonderful lyrics... well done shane.

  • This is such a beautiful song! I LOVE IT!

  • Is this to the same air as "come my little son" by the dubliners? ....great song

  • I don't understand why some people find it necessary to spew loads of bullshit about the band when I'm only trying to listen to a beautiful song.

  • Fuck that shit i believe that any band Shane is in should be called the Pogues because he is the band !!!

  • is it just me or is there anybody else out there who thinks some of the tunes sound like "Sean South" ?

  • back to basics

  • This song is amazing. I'm just getting into the Popes. I love Shane's other work so much! I can relate to this song on so many levels. Wow!

  • Has anyone ever covered this?

  • Im sure its the popes. Popes are a far better band, although Phil Chevron is a great song writer.

  • beautiful.

  • what a tune.

  • some tool said this was crap they're obviously braindead and have no clue about proper music and proper lyrics what a sad cunt

  • @SuperJoemac1 a sad cunt indeed!

  • this song is the only thing that reminds me on one girl that was once mine

  • Comment removed

  • hey im a mc gowan (close enough)

  • Please tell me the song of songs on this album contained no songs.

Looking for could not be found.

  • AWESOME SONG-SHANE AT HIS BEST

  • AWESOME-SHANE AT HIS BEST!!!!!

  • stunningly beautiful

  • so raw, honest and beautifull at the same time

  • yes this is good

  • Sounds a little like 'Pair of Brown Eyes' to me

  • @LukaRaPtoR why mess with perfection

  • @Nertrender yh no Im not saying its a bad thing. In fact I think I probably prefer this song to Pair of Brown Eyes anyway.

  • Ahhhhhhh Shane, second to none!

  • it made my day. amazing tune, amazing lyrics.

  • it's the POGUES!!

  • @kimstonge No, this song is from the third band of MacGowan : Shane MacGowan and the Popes.

  • @kimstonge not the pogues.

  • @kimstonge i am pretty sure this is afte the pogues broke up

  • Jeez what I've in common.... ..yer man says it all so clear. God bless ya brother.

  • fuck.... speechless. Beautiful.

  • The man is a genius

  • 'Till I'm dead and buried in my grave

My Love will never end so do i

  • What a song!

  • Say what they may..songwriting doesnt come from daisies and clovers, it comes from real life. I feckin love ya , Shane!!!

  • so well said he is an all greeat

  • thats for sure going knowing i can relate to it it comes from life

  • Wow

  • The man's a genious.....great drinking song...

  • Perdonami. Sono stato un mostro, ho perso la persona più bella della mia vita e ora non ho più niente. Perdonami, possiamo superare anche questo.

  • I sang this the day after my brother's wedding at the bar, whilst blocked of course!

  • Yep. Guilty every time i listen to it. Fuck.

  • This is one wonderful tune! <3

  • raise a glass of martini cheers shane

  • What a song~? Absolutely classic

  • I believe in every single word of this song, it is so cruely true, short version of graham greens the end of the affair

  • Wow, it's like vintage Shane. This is an amazing song. I fucking luv it after one listening. So fucking honest. I've been this asshole before. I can't believe how good this is. FUCK YOU, yes I'm gushing, and I'm drunk, I'm just touched is all.

  • @alejandro15187 Man I have been that asshole too. We suck.

  • @alejandro15187 God bless you, you damned, amazing, drunken man. Or woman. I don't judge.

  • @lorddread30 what does that mean,'you don't judge'?.makes you sound even more of an idiot.

  • @alejandro15187 I think we have all been there bro

  • I always want to cry when I hear this song.

  • Tuffin up!!

  • yeah, that place is called Tipperary, County Cashel

  • Shane's heart and voice come from the same place; he has no equal when it comes to singing these tragic Irish ballads; he brings a strength that underlies the pathos and makes his versions the standout best of the best.

  • heres to shane may he never fall to grace of god!

  • I AM THIS SONG !!!

  • makes you really proud to be irish!

  • makes you proud to be human.

  • So passionate were she and I

We made fire in the air... kiss to you all lovers bastards

  • ps as far as i know it's "Nine years ago I fell in love" not long years. and it's "she'll call me only friend" not only call me friend. Lyric sites get it wrong.

    Sinead O'Connor agrees.

  • this song tears at my soul. I loved a beautiful girl for 11 years and fucked it up. We still love each other, but can't be together. Still friends, but the "she'll call me only friend, till i'm dead and buried in my grave, my love will never end" tears me up.

    He's an amazing poet

  • i read somewere that hes been told he has six months to live if he doesnt stop drinking every six months for the last 10 years

  • Not true, that was a myth in 1996.

But this is 'by far' the best song of the album! Great song!

  • Its definitely true, he said it himself in an interview with frank skinner. Its on youtube.

  • A great Bard and alky neer dies, hes reincarnated time after time,to write, drink, love, suffer and laugh at King death..

  • I had the good fortune to see Shane close up once at a party in Dublin, early 90s. I walked in the kitchen after someone said "Shanes inside." Low and behold Shane was in his finest form passed out drunk spread across on the kitchen table. That's my claim to Shane. One of the best song writers of the 20th century. He's with Dylan, Lennon Macartney

  • your bang on there. best writer of songs to come out of ireland

  • nice one :-d

  • "Long years ago i fell in love With a lady proud and fair So passionate were she and i

We made fire in the air"

I suspect that McGowans true genius will only be

fully appreciated when he is no longer with us.

  • I think you are right, unfortunately.

  • I know it will sound selfish but I hope he doesn´t leave us before I have the chance to see one live performance. Beeing from the south of Brazil, I´ll probably have to travel half way around the world to fulfill this desire. He´s my favourite musician, poet and singer.

  • He has never been totally "with us"... He has been roaming around in some "distant land" for years.. but man do he send back solid gold :)

  • you are very right indeed. he is a great poet

  • I just wish he would "appreciate" himself before he is no longer with us... He is crazy talented this messed up... just think about how much he could give the world if he didn't spend most of his time chasing the next high...

  • beautiful

  • Brilliant.

  • This is the most beautiful song i`ve ever heard!

Shane McGowan is more than a genius. He is a magician. What he does comes from his heart, it is pure and natural! His motivation is, i believe, just to express his soul, to led the feelings out. Otherwise he couldn`t stand this insane world. And we get those wonderful songs. Songs from a broken heart, i guess. Danke, Mr.McGowan, bleiben Sie uns bitte noch lange erhalten, auch wenn es Ihnen schwerfällt!!!

  • This is just the most perfect lost love song..

  • this is such a great freakin song, heard it on the biography bout shane called "if i should fall from grace" looked for it since, trying to figure out what it was called

    thank you for posting it.

  • But I was brutal, I was ignorant

I was cruel I was brash

I never gave a damn about

    The beauty that I smashed

No sadist I, I took delight

    In making my Love cry

Now I'd pray for a single kiss from her

    To be lashed and crucified

Perfect lyric. Many will know this feeling to well

  • i love it shane is no 1

  • She was from Donegal!!! Shane is the last Irish person proud of his roots that has a connection with the young people, what the fuck is wrong with you all?? Be proud of who you are, dont let the commercial media pull you away from who you are, your forefathers fought hard enough to give you this freedom.....dont waste it..

  • its not only in Ireland I guess its here too in America where the problem started

  • Too late I'm afraid. Ireland sold itself to big international money. I mean, it is better than being poor but they did lose something that will never come back...land and their soul.

  • my ex sang this too me cute or what!! xxx

  • One of the best songs Shane ever made.

  • r.i.p tom mc by the way

  • She must have been from Donegal. This is the homes of Donegal. What a performer!!

  • have to agree after a rainy night in soho this is no.2 in my all time hits of shane macgowan songs and poems!!

  • Course shane's still alive...seen him live a few times...Amazing!

  • This is one of the best song of Shane MacGowan.

I would like to Know what is inside his brain to be able to express that feelings

  • He's a genius! That's what's inside. :-)

  • @jartura

he´s got a brain and a heart...that´s all it needs

  • Shane is still the bollocks....top hole and long may you continue

  • born on 25 December 1957

  • thank you bye from germany to usa!

  • shane du bist der beste ich trink ein auf dein wohl shlanshiwa!

  • all the best shane

  • lyrical genius!!

  • ty 2 whoever posted this i,ve been looking for it for ages well done

  • I love Shane McGowan!!!!!!!!!!!!! And all his songs. My second favourite is Flogging Molly,

  • Praise Shane ...

  • I have that melody burned into my veins. It's the same as "The Wind That Shakes The Corn", once performed by the Irish Rovers.

  • On that note, many Irish tunes are 'borrowed' and applied to new lyrics. I have trouble tracing a song's origins sometimes. :)

  • *sigh* such a lovely song...!!! :-)

  • Can I take you on ONE more journey..because my last message was FAR too uncertain..

  • Of course you can- take me to the moon!!! ;-D

  • A really great song. I like it a lot.

  • Genius!!!!

  • Yep classic song, go Shane.

  • Good song, cheers.

  • oh, thats beautiful

  • I love tihs song :)

    Greatings from Germany
