Great videos! I was just wondering how you mark out the end graft there – I can't quite make out what you've got on the back of those two (rulers?) to make them stay in place while you cut...?
nice binding jig is that bought or your own design,im a newish builder so any help on binding would be much appreciated, unless you could give me a job,lol..thanks...great vids by the way.
Your jig seems to work well and produces an accurate result, but somehow or other watching a full-size router bit eating into a delicate instrument gives me the heebie-jeebies. I used to hand cut the rebates but now use a Dremel. I've watched a lot of your videos, and it's interesting to see another luthier who has developed techniques independently of but similar to my own.
I've stopped using dremel as I find them too unsubstantial - you get too much vibration in the drive column and I find the results are more consistant with the bigger machines. I use a similar sized router for my rosettes too and have less hassle than before. plus I've found Dremel don't last as long as I'd like so using a larger router or laminate trimmer works out cheaper.
But as we both know, when things go wrong with a router, it happens quick and takes a long time to mend.

Excellent video and instruction. This is the exact stage that I am at with my first build. Good timing. I look forward to the next.
Thanks
