  • @lisagdara That quilt is actually a pattern. It is adorable though, isn't it! Thanks for your comments and watching! Have a great day!

  • Binding is super difficult :( I guess practice makes perfect.

Though! I did sew a purse today! =D

And I am SOOOO proud of it :)

I watch your videos everyday, even if I have already seen them XD

  • @LittleMissElaine Binding is so intimidating, I know! It really does help to practice! You will be surprised how quickly it will all come together! You'll be a pro in no time! :) Have fun!

  • Thank you so much, I alway wonder how could I do the corner. I been having problem around the corner and didn't know how to do it. I now watch your video. You made so easy for me to understand it. I been making my grandchildrens blanket that they been asking me to make one and I been doing it but just didn't know about the corner. I thank you so much.

  • @cheryllong1 You are very welcome! So glad that you got it all figured out!! Have fun sewing quilts for the grandbabies!!

  • I'm 13 years old and I love this video! I've done three quilts and every time I begin to bind I look up this video! Thanks so much! It is so helpful! :)

  • @12898gz Awesome!! That is so great to hear!! Congratulations on THREE quilts so far!! So cool. Thanks for watching!

  • Great tutorial! I've never watched a full video (for anything) and I was surprised by how I was so absorbed in this one that I didn't even feel like I sat here for 13 minutes! Thank you!!!

  • @worthyk Hahah!! great to hear!! So glad you liked it. Hopefully you learned a thing or two! :)

  • Very nice tute, clears up a lot of questions for me! thanks ;)

  • You are a wonderful teacher. Thank you so much. Made a baby quilt and turned out fantastic with all your videos. Thanks again.

  • The tumbler quilt that is shown in the video - the pink border around the tumbler blocks follows the irregular shape of the tumblers. I can figure out how to to that, but did you use bias on that pink fabric?

  • THANK YOU! That has really helped me, I was doing it all wrong, trying to fold and sew BOTH sides, and wondering why it wasn't matching up! Thanks again, love it!

  • @EmuUpAGumTree So glad it helped you!!

  • Thanks so much. From Canberra Australia :)

  • Last year I found a bias-cut jelly roll and bought one in black and one in white. I use it to bind my quilts, so much faster!

  • great tutorial. i am getting ready to do this for two quilts for Christmas...and needed a little refresher because i haven't made a quilt in awhile :) thank you Jenny

  • @ladyocti1 You are very welcome! And good luck on finishing your projects!! Have a wonderful week!

  • Best tutorial I've seen. Thank you!

  • I love all your videos, thank you so much for taking the time to put them together. I am just starting out quilting and it is so helpful to be able to just step over to my laptop when I have a question, or I'm stuck, and quickly search youtube for answers. You have yourself a customer!

  • @1MourningMIst Thanks so much! Good luck in your new hobby!! It is the best one, I think for sure!! :) Have a great week, and let us know if we can help answer any other questions.

  • You are AMAZING!!! You do such a great job of showing so many tips and tricks, and you keep things moving--never a dull moment! :-) You inspire me!!! Thank you!

  • love it! such easy explanation!

  • OMG I love you.....FINALLY somebody else that binds a quilt with a sewing machine! I will say, i am not as good as you are.....

  • this the best binding tutorial i have seen so far in all of you tube. i love this company as all the tutorials are shown in such an easy manner that even though i have never done quilting i have already started one. i have done the disappearing nine patch and now im waiting to put the batting & bind it together. thanks to missouri quilt co.

  • @sjer11 So great to hear!! Good luck with your quilting! It is such a blast and a great way to be creative!! Have a great week!

  • Jenny, you didn't show us how to do the joining of the beginning and ending of the binding. I've seen it on your other videos but not this one that has the decorative stitch for the top part. Thanks. Love all your videos.

  • great vid!

    thank you for it.

question...what happens when you come back to where you started the binding? what do you do to bring the ends to finish??

  • @spankyfinch I use the binding tool to finish it. Look on our you tube channel for a tutorial on the binding tool.

  • Thank you so much for this tutorial. Have been wanting you to do this. Great teacher.

  • Thank you for your tips! I now think I have the confidence to finish 3 quilts I started 3 yrs ago! Keep the tutorials coming. :)

  • Hi jenny, love the tutorials!!! would love to see a tutorial about how to quilt a pattern on a quilt by hand or on the sewing machine?? i am finding this bit really complicated lol :)

  • Jenny I love your tutorial and I think I've seen just about all of them plus the two Quilting Quickly series. You make quilting so easy please keep the tutorials coming.

  • I so love your tutorials I have learned so much and I may do so many more quilts now because of the time you are saving me. You just saved me hours of work with this tutorial. Thank you so much.

  • JENNY I LOVE YOU!! i cannot hand stitch very well, - i will practice !! - however this has saved me!! i don't like wrecking my work with my yucky hand sewing!! i love your stuff you are amazing !! i wish i lived closer so i could meet you!! i think your a beautiful person and quilter!!! =]

  • Love your videos. Thanks heaps for all your help.

  • this is amazing , however , jenny how do you sew the end and the start of the binding together??? if anyone knows how please help !!!!!

i am stuck on the start and end sewing bit of the binding !!!

  • You make it look so easy!! I'm sewing one down by hand right now, but I'm going to try this method next time!

  • This is a great tutorial. I am new to quilting and this helps a lot. Thank you!!!

  • Jenny, I notice that when you finish sewing a section you let the machine continue for a few stitches after the fabric has passed under the needle. Is this within the capacity of modern machines? My only experience is on pre 1980 machines and that would have resulted in a mess up of thread.

Can you tell me about this please. PS I did your courses on Craftsy

  • great, great viedo

  • Thanks so much. This is a great method and a clear tutorial. I think I could actually do it myself now. LOL :-)

  • Thank you so much. I finally understand how binding works. I'm from Germany and i love your tutorials.

  • I've used this technique before and it is quick and easy. A good way to showcase decorative stitches and threads. The ric-rac idea is great! Keep the videos coming. Great ideas for both beginner and experienced quilters. Happy Sewing, Rae

  • Its Midnight here in Australia and I have made two mistakes trying to join binding strips. I searched your tutorials and found this one. while you showed thow to do it, I sewed my binding strips together and they are perfect. Thank you so much. You are worth your weight in gold.

  • Thank you for this great video! Binding is my least favorite thing to do! It's the reason for most of my UFOs. I have never even thought of doing binding by machine! This will really help me get those UFOs finished! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for another great video!!! I had (the few I have done) machined sewed on front, turned over and hand stitched on the back. Now I understand how to do it on machine--both sides. My two quilts I made for my grandkids were hand pieced, but have started couple projects on machine. Hand piecing is so relaxing to me, but I want to make so many things that I think piecing by machine is way to go! I love ALL your videos and the two courses I paid for!!!! Waiting for the third to come out!

  • I really enjoyed this tutorial on machine binding! I think it's really awesome. I have a few baby quilts to make and this way of binding will help me keep things moving right along! Thanks Jenny, you make it simple...

  • Jenny is great ! i love watching her videos!!! she explains everything

  • Love the video.

  • Thank you...again...its a very rainy Saterday evening here..and i am spending a lot of time looking at your video`s and got the feeling that i have learned much more in this couple of hours then from my very large stock of my quiltmagazines...greetings Francien.

  • This is a wonderful video. I've been watching Missouri Quilt Company videos for a while and have learned a great deal. Thanks so much.

  • Its soooo easy without using ANY tool........I also sew mine to the back of my quilt. Turn to the front and pin.

  • Thanks for this fantastic tut, another way for using my decorative stitches.

  • Thanks for this excellent tutorial. Very useful. Kisses from Venezuela!

  • i finally got to try this on a really small quilt sample and I have to say I really was impressed with how fast it goes. I ran into a few problems but they were all on my end - I forgot to square my quilt top, so the binding of course showed that; and for some reason I ended up having tension issues around the corners. I think I will try again with rounded corners and see how that goes.

  • Thank you so much for your tutorials as I am learning so much from them.I have only had one lesson on quilting.Have you got any ideas on doing a spots and stripes quilt as this is what my daughter wants, and it is with 12 fat quarters.thanks again I love watching. Sandra

  • Always wanted to do a machine stitched binding, but didn't like the way the stitching ended up on the front. Never thought of stitching it to the back first - duh!!!

    Thanks Jenny!!

  • I always find binding to be the hardest part of the the quilt making process. This tutorial has made me see the light!! I think I can finally stop worrying about the binding. Thank you Thank you Thank you. I can't wait to do the binding on the quilt I'm working on that's for my daughter's first birthday in August!!!

  • I love this tutorial .Jenny , what would we do without you>we would not finish our projects that have been setting in olur closets forever ......Thankyou again for having the patience to teach us quilters-to-be.. Congrats again .. Please keep up us up to date.. Best wishes to you and your wonderful staff.

  • Hi Jenny, nice regards from Germany. You are a great artist, a genius! I am a beginner and you are my only teacher, a great one! I have had some problems with the binding. Now am sooooooooo happy, Thank you. The only question is- you use regular strips for the binding. they say we need bias binding/tape. So does it works with a straight, regular strip? No idea if you can answer me here. Again, thank you so much, I wish you could see my works, all 've learned from Jenny! :-)

  • @vanfay Yes you can use a straight cut of fabric for the binding. Thank you for all you wonderful comments!

  • Thank you very much Jenny, you are a great woman, an artist, I'm soo loved patch and you are make really my live with your wonderful creations, sorry my english is not very good, but I have seen all your videos and I am your fan thanks to share your creations with us, congratulations from México. • Jenny, I am so glad I found your viedos. I am sooooo lucky I found u.

  • Another winnner, Jenny. What would we quilters do without your much appreciated expertise? We love ya Jenny

  • Thank you sooooo much!

  • Just love all your tutorials... thank you and merci!

  • Jenny makes everything seem so easy! Thanks for the helpful tutorials.

  • A great help. Thank you so much!

  • Love the tutorial, and the rick rack idea! Thanks Jenny for sharing your talents!

  • LOVE the RicRac idea!!

I'm always amazed at your talent, Jenny!!

  • Thanks, Jenny. I thought you had cut the strips on the bias. Boy, that makes me happy. I won't have to figure out how to cut the strips on the bias. I watched a video of how to make a tube and cut that on the bias. Now I won't have to do that. The corners are not curved. Thank you so much for answering me.

    Pat

  • love the video my me and my mom quilt and she is making a whole bedroom quits for my daughters with the other moda girly girl.....love it

  • Thank you so much for this tutorial.....between this tutorial and the binding tool tutorial, I can bet the house my that my binding is going to look FAB from now on!! Thanks so much to you and the crew for great tutorials on all kinds of stuff!! XOXOXOXO

  • Jenny I love you.... i'm a "retarded/opps i mean retired" lady.... and i'm watching you make this binding... EXACTLY the way i do... no pins.. chain piece, no marking.. just enjoy the process.. girls in my group are bug eyed when i work... but now i know i'm OK,,, cause i saw it on the MSQC... !!! Thank you for opening the eyes of the young ones to realize things can be fun!!!! Progress not perfection... this is "handwork" people!!! we are not Machines!!!! hugs GB

  • Perhaps you might use a more contrasting material/thread so that your work shows up more on the tutorial. Thanks for all your ideas.

  • @missymath1

Sorry I should have, but I didn't want to pick it out later when it became a shop sample...

  • I wish I was one of your daughters....lol. Oh the quilting wisdom I would have.

Another great tutorial. You explain everything so well.

    Now.....maybe a machine quilting tutorial???

  • I am ready to bind a baby quilt and could not remember whether to us the bias and straight binding. Now I know what I will do. Have to start cutting the bias. UGH! Thanks for the video. I love all of your tutorials. I refer back to them often, just to keep on track.

  • @pmillerwaxia1958 As long as the outer border of your quilt isn't curved you can use STRAIGHT cut bias. I just put my strips together on the bias, but they are cut on the straight.... Unless I do a curvy edge.

  • Another great tutorial. THANKS MSQC!

  • Jenny, are you using 1/4 inch when sewing on the binding or width of pressure foot? Thanks.

  • thanks so much for your great ideas, I love your tutorials ;O)

  • What a fantastic idea! I had been thinking about using my machine for binding, and now I can see how its done!!! Definitely a good way to use some of those stitches on our machines that we never use on any other day!!!

  • thank you!

  • I love this so much! I honestly love binding by hand so I wasn't expecting to want to try this, but it looks so fun and such a great way to show off decorative stitches. I may have to do a mini quilt tomorrow just to try this out!

  • Your tutorials are my fav! Thank you for teaching me all your great tips.

  • thank you so much for this!

  • You are my favorite to watch on youtube. I love your tutorials.

  • Great video as usual. I would have never thought of using a decorative stitch to apply the front binding instead of a straight ditch stitch. I actually like this way better. Thanks for sharing.
