  • Global warming IS happening! Get your heads out of the sand people. How can we put out the levels of pollution that we do and not affect the ozone that protects us? Coupled with the mass deforesting of our rainforests ever year?

  • Funny, the initial headline is correct. The Alaskan glaciers HAVE grown. Smaller.

A FEW increased, but the MAJORITY AND LARGEST shrunk.

Spinmastering at its worst and I was being nice and not calling it spinmasturbating.

But then, those putting forth the BS won't live to inherit the fardling mess that our nation will become, so they don't care.

If the glaciers ALL grew, HOW did the northwest passage TOTALLY open again?

Sorry, the BS is heating the globe nearly as much as fossil fuel use.

  • I conceded nothing. Anyone who doesn't think the Sun warms the Earth is an idiot. All I said was that CO2 does not generate excess heat. However, CO2 concentrations are the main control on how long that heat stays on Earth. The solar cycle you refer to is an 11-year one, and so cannot be solely responsible for the observed increases in global temperature over the past few centuries.

  • Wait, wait, wait... You're saying that the glaciers in Alaska receded 249 times IN A ROW, then grew ONCE, so the glaciers aren't receding overall? Where are they relative to 250 years ago? I bet they're still a hell of a lot smaller than they were. Climate change is a trend, not an absolute.

  • @dhicks3: You don't get the point. These glaciers have been trending smaller for over 200yrs. This shows the decline is UNRELATED to any imaginary man made global warming. If AGW were valid, the trend would towards increasing melting. Yet, here we see that when the Chicken Little Committee says we should be seing increasing melting, we instead see ice build up. Whatever the over all trend proves to be, the man made claim IS falsified.

  • @VictorLepanto The data presented here say nothing about an acceleration or a deceleration, so you appear to be drawing a conclusion not supported by the available data. Certainly, I can justify this by observing that you still cite ice buildup over a SINGLE year as nullifying everything that came before it. Stochasticity: natural systems all display this principle, and it is independent of the overall trend.

  • @dhicks3: There is no meaningful data presented here. Algore rhetorical fantasies have nothing to do w/ any real data. The claim of AGW would seem to require an acceleration of glacial melting. If the glacial melting had been accelerating, this fact would be central to their rhetoric, but no such claims are made. As for Alaskan glaciers, where they go in future years is yet to be seen, but their build is consistant w/ buildup seen around the world. Glacial buildup has been reported in Greenland.

  • @VictorLepanto At first glance, AGW would also "seem to require" a decrease in snowfall due to rising temperatures, but the reverse can actually be true. Warmer air holds more moisture, so, depending on dominant air currents, snowfall can actually increase in some areas. The specific case cannot be generalized because of the complexity of the factors influencing climate. What tends to indisputably carry more weight are things like worldwide temperature and CO2 readings in accordance with AGW.

  • @dhicks3: By "worldwide temperature" you actually mean the average of reports taken from weather measuring stations. The validity of such statistical sampling is highly doubtful. New stations are established, old one go off line, & conditions surrounding stations (urban sprawl) alter readings. On top of this treatments of such statistics by AGW hysterics has been highly manipulative.

  • @VictorLepanto Why only attack temperature readings and not CO2 level increases? The greenhouse effect is, at this point, unassailable. CO2 absorbs the wavelengths of IR radiation put out by the blackbody radiation of the Earth, then re-emits them in a random direction. This increases the residence time of solar energy input on the Earth, so the temperature increases. Unless you can successfully argue that burning fossil fuels doesn't increase CO2 concentration, AGW is undeniable.

  • @dhicks3: Who's "assailling" the green house effect? Obviously our atmosphere traps heat created by the Sun. The absurd fixation on CO2 is the issue. CO2's contribution to the greenhouse effect is marginal compared to other factors such as water vapor. The human contribution to CO2 is even more marginal. We do contribute SOME CO2 ergo the fixation on that subject as it is only aspect of the greenhouse effect that can be blamed on man. This is all political scare tactics by UN crooks.

  • @VictorLepanto Please, CO2 is wholly accepted by the scientific community as the global thermoregulator. All of the other significant IR-absorbing gases are much less prevalent than CO2, which is itself less much less prevalent than H2O. However, because at ambient temperature CO2 is a gas and H2O is a liquid, there is an upper limit to H2O concentration, after which it RAINS out of the sky. H2O is too variable across the globe to serve as the primary planetary regulator of temp. CO2 is not.

  • @dhicks3: Even if there is rain, there is still water vapor in the air. Rain merely shows that humidity has exceeded saturation levels, thus it fall out. CO2 might be relatively constant & H2O might be more variable, this doesn't mean H2O isn't constantly contributing the greenhouse effect. A contribution which is always greater the CO2's. Besides, CO2 increases are LAGGING indicator. They are mostly caused by warming, not a cause OF warming.

  • @VictorLepanto Then, you're going to need to provide a more parsimonious explanation for the rising temperature than the simple concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere. All records (even geological ones going back millions of years) indicate a direct relation between CO2 and temperature proxies. You've already admitted the greenhouse effect is real: why does increasing CO2 not affect the greenhouse? Also, even if CO2 lags, it's changes endure longer because of its 300,000 yr. residence time.

  • @dhicks3: CO2 lags both increases & decreases. Thus some other factor then CO2 is causing the decrease. This demonstrates that the decrease begins when CO2 concentrations are @ their MAXIMUM. This simple alone should suffice to demonstrate that CO2's contribution is marginal. Some OTHER factor then CO2 must be the PRIME driver of change. If some other factor is primary, why all the POLITICAL obsessing over what is at best a secondary & perhaps even a tertiary or worse factor?

  • @VictorLepanto No one is arguing that CO2 itself is generating the heat. If you're so concerned about killing the "prime" source of the heat energy, then, by all means, let's find a way to shut down the sun. However, positive feedback cycles FULLY explain the behavior you describe. Small increases in warming also drive up CO2, which remains in the atmosphere resisting change even if temperatures otherwise drop naturally. It dampens the system and is removed only slowly.

  • @dhicks3: Thank you for conceeding that the Sun is responsible for all this heating & cooling. I am quite satisfied that variations in solar activity are what is driving all this change in climate. Human activity is so marginal a factor, it can properly be called irrelevant. As It would appear the Sun is enterring a phase where the globe will cooling, the CO2 "dampening" would be very welcome.

  • Funnily enough the USGS produced a book right at the time of your supposed report of growing glaciers, October 2008. They said 99% of Alaskan Glaciers were shrinking. The 1% that weren't were those at high elevations.

Deniers have tried to make hay over a recent report that says the amount of melting has been over stated, however the author of the study still reminds us they are without question melting.

But who do we believe scientists or Alex Jones? Alex Jones is one sick puppy.

  • Good Information...but thumbs up if you get sick of the tones on ALL their videos played before and after he speaks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • skeet skeet , al gore. skeet skeet.

  • This pathetic attempt to sound scientific is just another example of what happens to people who are more dedicated to ideology than truth. You can see their fears. If it means cooperation it can only mean world government. If Al Gore believes it it must be a liberal plot. If Obama talks to China he must be Mao. All lead to the inability to read the science for what it says because they don't have the imagination to see beyond their prejudices. Pathetic..

  • rugbyguy59: This isn't the only video on YouTube that opposes global warming myths. Obama is a communist. He allowed the Chinese flag 2Bflown in front of the White House last Nov. He was also a member of the New Party - a communist group while living in Chicago. His father was Frank Marshall Davis & then there was Van Jones - both of them admitted communists. All these facts can be verfied by doing your own search. I would like to know if you believe in God?

  • @FireThunderTV No you're right this is just one of many lame ass videos that opposes science with mythology. If it's based on science, then what science? Can you quote actual studies or just Alex Jones. Barely any of the actual unconvinced scientists deny AGW they are now debating sensitivity. If you claim fraud where is your evidence?

Sounds like McCarthyism is alive and well in the USA.

If I said Allah would that be good? What does God have to do with science?

  • rugbyguy59: I just want to know if you believe in God.

  • @FireThunderTV I don't. Is this going to somehow lead to you understanding why I can't see the light on AGW?

  • rugbyguy59: That's what I thought. When you take God out of the equation, then all you have left is human beings. God made this world perfectly, and to say that global warming is somehow caused by people is saying that God cannot control His own universe that He created; that He didn't know how we would be and that His work is inferior. So when there's no God, all you have left to point fingers at is human beings. I think most people who believe in global warming are Atheist.

  • @FireThunderTV Actually you're left with the whole universe and your whole statement is a diversion. If god exists and controls the world then he does so through solar radiation, GHGs, Milankovitch Cycles and a variety of other processes. Its not a question of God losing control its humans not following his natural laws and adding so much CO2 to the atmosphere

You want to wait for God to solve our mess for us? I thought God helps those who help themselves

    You're a creationist aren't you

  • @rugbyguy59: Okay, you just made me laugh. Humans emitting too much C02? What do you want us all to do? Stop breathing and farting? LoL!!! C02 is a natural occurrence - every plant and tree in the world would die without it. We all need it to live. That's basic junior high science. You've been propagandized by libtards. Each person in the U.S. generates approximately 2.3 tons of CO2 each year. A healthy tree stores about 13 pounds of carbon annually -- or 2.6 tons per acre each year.

  • @FireThunderTV Here's the junior high science. Our breath is part of the natural carbon cycle. The plants breath in CO2 and store the C. We eat the C and then convert it to CO2. Its a closed loop. The CO2 we produce by burning fossil fuels changes things. We produce 29 gT of CO2. The land and plants emit 439 gT and then absorb 450 gT. The ocean emits 332 gT and absorbs 338 gT. Earth absorbs 40% of our emissions but not the other 60%. We've raised the concentration of CO2 by 100ppm in 120 years

  • @FireThunderTV That's the difference. You listen to conservitard propaganda. I read science.

Don't you think its blasphemous to test your god like this? What you're basically saying is I don't care what God's systems are, I expect God to take care of me and to correct all the damage I do. It's all up to God, I don't have to do anything except sit and pray.

  • rugbyguy59: Hahahaha. No, that's not what I said. God created the earth first; us second. I think God knew exactly what we do before he created human beings and He factored all that into His creation. Did you know that oil is a naturally occurring substance in the ocean? God put all the resources we would ever need on this earth. If you're really honest, you would have to admit that it's all intelligently designed. God is bigger than us.

  • @FireThunderTV So you are a creationist.

Does your god believe in personal responsibility and free will? Seems he runs the biggest welfare state in the universe. Of course oil and coal could be from Satan. Put there to tempt us into destroying God's creation. Your god provided us with other energy sources that are not harmful. Of course he knew it all before hand so he knew we would commit suicide rather than think.

Conveniently avoiding my Carbon Cycle post. Not much for science are you?

  • rugbyguy59: You make far too many assumptions.

  • @FireThunderTV I'm assuming? You figure oil is an infinite (natural in oceans), harmless resource that God put there for our pleasure and God doesn't require us to think ahead or take care of ourselves because he knows all

You're the one who figures that AGW is a fraud because a few tabloid journalists and big mouth radio hosts said so

If man's CO2 is inconsequential explain to me why you only admit to half the carbon cycle? (the breathing out part)

Most deniers seem to be creationists

  • rugbyguy59: Yes assuming&jumping2conclusions;putting words in my mouth. Small amounts of oil leakN2the ocean naturally. Don't believe all the libtards propaganda. They only want2use it2control every1. I think I've said enough. I'm tired of replying2your comments. This is going nowhere; all it's doing is consuming tons of my time&energy. WhenUhave no belief in God, your world is very small. Call ME a deniar, butURthe1 who is denying the existence of God.

  • @FireThunderTV You assume life is small if you don't believe in God. You have no idea how full life can be when you free yourself of superstition. But if believing makes you happy I'm glad for you. I know lots of wonderful theists. I can't prove god doesn't exist; you can't prove he does. But if the theist can't adapt to the science you set yourself up for a catastrophic crisis of faith. You should take the time to learn the science. It doesn't require a loss of faith. But it is time to end this

  • rugbyguy59: You're making assumptions and putting words in my mouth again. I just have one thing to say: You want proof of God? Jesus is God. You don't believe it? Get a book by Josh McDowell called "More Than a Carpenter". It's only about 60 pages long and costs about $5. I'm done now.

  • So what does this weather report have to do with climate change? Have you still not figured out this basic fact.

I love the way you guys deny thousands of studies along multiple lines of evidence and then along comes one cold summer and you are willing to leap onto the bandwagon of this meaning the beginning of a cooling trend!

And I'm sure those Russian fur traders kept really accurate measurements on the glaciers. Do you not even think before you post this kind of rubbish?

  • rugbyguy59: Do you even think before you say such rubbish?

  • @FireThunderTV Gee, snappy comeback.

OK let's doff the insults and stick to science. How can you claim to be a legitimate skeptic if you accept this single year occurrence as something definitive? Have you ruled out the possibility that the increased snowfall was caused by increased evaporation due to global warming?

  • rugbyguy59: Hey, I guess you don't like it when someone dishes back what you dish out to others. Have you ever heard about the Hadley global research computers that were hacked in November 2009? In the private emails, researchers admitted to faking global warming. Look it up on YouTube. Here's one video of many you can start with: /watch?v=JwF15xftmt8. I don't know if you can handle it though. You might still think it's "rubbish". LoL.

  • @FireThunderTV You recommend Alex Jones? He begins with a lie, that CRU is the key to AGW research. He continues with lie after lie. Sure the AP reported that some were suggesting that this represented a fraud. Of course what's happened since? Not a single aspect of science has been altered. None of the allegations have held up to investigation. Almost nothing he said has been demonstrated as true. No one said there was faked data and all you offer as proof is a lunatic conspiracy theorist.

  • rugbyguy59: I should have known you'd have something derogatory to say. That video was the first one that came up in the search results. I don't have tons of time to go looking up things for you. Alex is not the only one who is saying global warming is a fraud.

  • @FireThunderTV What else am I supposed to say when you get a guy who backs up nothing and reads an AP article as if the case is closed.

I don't want you to look up anything for me. I spend a lot of time reading the work and blogs of real scientists and I check out contrarians too. Including many a youtube video. But what do you know? What evidence is there of fraud? What peer reviewed papers can you cite to support your version of the science?

I hope you can do better than "hide the decline."

  • rugbyguy59: If Uknow so much then why RU bothering me? Nothing I say is going2do any good. It seems likeUhave all the answers already. Uask me ?'s. I answered them. What else am I supposed 2do but back up what I'm saying with videos so it's not "just my opinion"? I really don't understand whatUwant. SinceUthinkUknow it all, then all UR going 2do is waste my time cuzUgot it all figured out already. So why bother asking people ?'s, as ifUwant2know, butUreally don't?

  • @FireThunderTV Do you think free speech means you just get to say and never get challenged. I'd like to hear how you come to your conclusions. More than anything I'd like to know how someone who claims to be seeker of truth can ignore the multiple lines of evidence and dozens of scientific bodies while accepting this weather report you posted as meaningful to climate change.

Do you believe what you post or will anything antiAGW do? For truth on the science: potholer54 or greenman3610 channels.

  • Al Gore should be in jail for fraud.

He should return the Nobel Prize and appologize for all his lies. Then let's send him to jail. Should return the Oscar as well. What a joke! Global warming!

  • can u see a mini ice age coming if so when do you think

  • Global warming happens. And so does global cooling, But it isn't because of man, its because of our sun and its solar cycles. This ''man-made'' global warming is a scam.

  • Glaciers along the margins of Antarctica and Greenland are flowing into the ocean at an ever-increasing rate due to rising sea temperatures, warn researchers in the UK.

The "dynamic thinning" of these high-latitude ice sheets has been tracked over a five-year period using lasers on board a NASA satellite and detailed in a new series of topological maps

  • The earth has it's natural ebbs & flows. Man cannot change the weather. Climate cultists try to say we can becuz they want to remove God from the equation. God made this planet. The One Who created all things, is He not powerful and knowledgeable enough to control his own creation? I am pretty sure when God placed man on earth, He knew exactly what we would do, and He put that into the equation also when everything was created. Man is not God. We do not have the power to change weather.

  • watch?v=Cu_ok37HDuE

  • If it is financially advantageous to bend the truth then YOU WILL go along with the lie. A scientist wants cash to monitor wildlife the GOV. says no.....if he mentions the effect of CO2 on the wildlife then the GOV. says YES

  • speaking of money

    watch?v=Om6gHGiV-fo

  • Al Gores hot air spewing from his mouth is the real cause of global wining.

Wish he would just shut up.

  • In 2002 Al Gore stated his worth was $2 million- noe he has $10 Million invested in Green Energy and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

  • Yeah if the sun gets blocked by volcanic ash for too long we will have an ice age.

  • 3 cold summers and winters in UK and our hottest year was 1998, since then it's been cooling. Check the data. Global warming my ass. Where's my sweater! Brrrr!

  • Al Gore is making a ton of money off of this as are many others. There's your "Inconvenient" "truth"

    Good post Fire thunder.

  • gore was worth a few mill. ten years ago, he is now worth hundreds of millions. global warming=green economy profits

  • @j03cool

Well PT Barnum said "There's a sucker born every minute," and WC Fields said "never give a sucker an even break."

Al Gore is clearly their unnatural love-child.

  • Who is the narrator? A machine?

  • Watch banned video: Al Gore is Adolph Hitler.....

This video is banned in some countries.

  • If you believe in global warming, you're the one who is living with the lie.

  • I'm neither Rep. or Dem. but here in NY (upstate)

we have had the worse 2 winters 08 & 09... this March is average, but trending colder.

I do not believe in GW or GC, it's simply cycles.

  • Gore is a parasite.

  • We had a well below normal year in Minneapolis in 08. 09 looks to be cold too. :(

  • G-g-lad I'm not there! It's 59 degrees where I am at 5pm. I'm wearing t-shirts and sandals! Haha! Sorry to rub it in. But it was f-f-f-freeeezing here the last three days. Yea, the temperatures have been well below normal all over the country. Blame it on "global cooling". LoL.

  • I have family in Minnesota, they say it has been horribly cold.

  • I was just in Minnesota. It was nice today, but as soon as the sun went down, it got VERY cold! Minnesota is a beautiful state! I love all the trees and lakes. It's a VERY clean state too, even inside the cities.

  • I cant comment on that particular glacier, but the overall trend is clear, man made gw is happening at an ever increasing rate. Also it is not possible that we are heading into a new ice age.

This is explained in the "BBC Earth The Climate Wars" documentary.

  • There sure isn't any global warming going on in the northwest and other parts of the US. In Germany as well. Record snowfall and freezing temperatures this year. Forecasters are warning people of massive flooding when the snow melts off. Doesn't sound like global warming to me.
