If you take money from the rich and put it in the middle class then businesses will raise prices so they can afford these "new jobs" and benifits and higher taxes. Then people can't afford anything so we have the same problem. If we have high demand and high competition then jobs are created. Allowing the free market to work allows that.

This is why the policies were made in the Reagan administration of slashing regulations, what we are seeing now is the backlash to that.

38% of the total tax money in relation to 24% of the total income money doesn't tell me anything. For all I know, they could have lower tax rates and still pay 38% just because of the ridiculous amounts of money they make. Income doesn't always translate to tax, there are subsidies, tax returns, etc.

If you take money from the rich and put it in the middle class then businesses will raise prices so they can afford these "new jobs" and benifits and higher taxes. Then people can't afford anything so we have the same problem. If we have high demand and high competition then jobs are created. Allowing the free market to work allows that.

The marginal tax rate in the 50's was higher on paper. But if one factors in the deductions that were available at the time, no one actually paid that much. I'm not saying that they didn't pay more during that time period, I'm only saying that they didn't actually pay 90%.

this conversation fails to acknowledge the external reasons as to why America enjoyed unprecedented prosperity during the1950's. (it comprised 3/4 of the world's economy since Germany and Japan had just been diminished. that time the government had a lot of stimulus it could put into the economy, but over time it became inefficient and stagnated the economy. This is why the policies were made in the Reagan administration of slashing regulations, what we are seeing now is the backlash to that.

Sure the rich creates jobs, but mostly in places like panama and the philipines. But they take away jobs from small, local businesses because they just can't compete on the market, most of the time. So huge companies squeeze out the little guys and then outsource the majority of the jobs to a third world country. I can see why these patriots need to pay 0% tax effectively speaking. For all I know, they could have lower tax rates and still pay 38% just because of the ridiculous amounts of money they make. Income doesn't always translate to tax, there are subsidies, tax returns, etc.
