A gripping storyline? HELL YES. Got this game recently and hadn't had time to really play it until a few days ago. I installed it at like 1 am and thought i'd give it a try before I go to bed... turns out I didn't sleep that night. the game was so immersive it's crazy lol. I just couldn't put it down, just kept on wanting to see what comes next. Best game I've played in a LONG TIME. Simply amazing.

Well, to be honest, Alan Wake game one of their most well made every game I've ever experienced. I got goose bumps all the time, better atmosphere than amnesia, and Dead Space 2, artistic worlds, amazing characters. Brilliant graphics. They have also captured the man's behavior. ANd the music score? fucking unbelivable.

Played it trought it 3 times now.

Should have been nominated to the Game Of The Year 2010.

Great Game! A masterpiece! It really goes to show that the developers took their time in making this one. Having to combine the flashlight with firearms was superb! iv played and finished Alan Wake and apart from the disappointing ending this game is worth playing. The story is heavily intriguing and the cinematic style in which it is told is completely spell binding ! . The graphics are no doubt the best in the business but yes not truly of HD standard resolution ( blurry on my 42 inch lcd!,, had to tone down to 1080i).

Nevertheless, it is a unique experience and far better than Alone in the Dark .

Please note this game is a thriller, not a horror game!

@Kennykun I've played both and Alan Wake is significantly better than Alone in the Dark. To me, Alone in the Dark was very confusing to follow and it seemed as though there was justa little too much action packed into it. The controls were also difficult to get the hang of. Alan wake is much simpler, and isn't focused on action as much. It also has a way more original and exciting storyline. I highly recommend this game! :D

I'm currently playing through Alan Wake. I'm on episode 6, the last episode, so I'm almost done. It is so amazing. The storytelling is some of the best I have ever seen. Plus, psychological/mystery/thriller­s are awesome not matter the type of material (video game, movie, tv). I love how they wrote it like a tv show with episodes and cliff hangers at the end of each episode. And the well done recap of the previous episode. T.V. writers need to give these writers a call for an idea for a show.

You're nitpicking on the combat that has been worded differently to suit the situation better. If they changed it to "damage shields on enemies using electrical attacks" would that be more acceptable? They used a flashlight because most human beings can't shoot lightning bolts from their hands.

The main focus of the game is the story and horror element. It would be biased to call it stupid until you've actually played it and seen for yourself if it is.
