This whole video for Dutch TV is the best piece of early Yes...I have no doubt that the boys got there dropped acid and turned on the cameras. In fact, there were more than a few times back in my college days that I put this is in the VCR, took something out of my wallet (a small square of dosed paper perhaps) and usually by the time the video for "Everydays" came on I was feeling like Jon was on the gondola after the first verse when you can tell it is starting to hit him!!!
@vinnypimentel Might be the video quality that makes it look like his eyes are wide open. If you look up the clip from Yes Rock of the 70s, you'll see that his eyes look sort of sleepy.
Squire is still my favorite bass player ever (save for myself, b/c I take it MUCH further than he does, but still deliciously). (Sorry no clips of my bass playing, but many clips of my guitar playing.)
Does any rockstar NOT smoke? I wonder if any band is really clean. I mean no drugs, no alcohol, no tobacco - if u can name em I might give em a listen.
Ted Nugent and Alice Cooper both have never drank, smoked or done drugs. I'm sure that the guys in Boston were pretty clean as well due to their health conscious lifestyles. There are probably more that I can't think of at the moment but those are few.
Thanks alot for the info RYC. btw, what's your favorite Crimson record? I loved the early spacey music of the late 60s but am open to the creative endeavors of belew/fripp.
No problem! I'm partial to the first two Crimson albums "In the Court of the Crimson King" and "In the Wake of Poseidon." I also enjoy Red quite a bit as well. The Fripp/Belew stuff is indeed very interesting and creative.
Me, too. I am enjoying Poseidon all over again. I am a sucker for harmony and melody so, of course, enjoy songs like Cadence. As far as Yes, everything in the 70s was sheer genius but I prefer Topographic Oceans to anything. Peace.
Topographic Oceans is an amazing album. Highly underrated. My absolute favorite would probably be Close to the Edge then Fragile. Love Wondrous Stories however!
@Kidplunk From what I have heard there were two rock stars that did not indulge. Not sure if it is true. They are, Frank Zappa and Ted Nugent. I do know that Ted loved the women. That was his addiction.
@cpguitars1 ~ Frank Zappa's vice was cigarettes. No drink or drugs for him or anyone in his band. He was very strict about this from what I've read. Don't know about Ted Nugent's use or lack of, and don't care to know.
I copied this video from a fellow fan in 1985 at the Yescon'85 fest... I still have it... along with the kick ass classics from Time and A Word!!!!!!!!
i know you must have heard this already, but where is part 1? i've looked all thru your vids and can't find it? that said, thanks so much for this, i was looking for it and couldn't remember where i'd seen it. its perfect!
How sad it is to see one's musical icons behaving like twats, spending my LP money on things like clothes, drink and cigarettes - while my father (and mother) are workin't down mine for sixpenth a day, day in, day out.
Yes? YES? Well, no! This is not where I thought my money were goin' when I splashed out on't "Yes Alb'm" or "Frajill" or "Close T'Edge".
I's sad, really I am. Before y'know it, Yes'll be singing about rescuing whales!
Yeah, I was especially surprised to see Jon Anderson Smoking? I really dought Steve Howe smokes and I'm sure Jon quit soon after this. Chris is smoking in the photo on "Close to the Edge" He was 22 in this interview.
@angrysamoan666 First saw this a couple years ago.... Squire's monologue kind of reminds me of Monty Python style... only without any funny bits. Probably about the 1st time he was interviewed in front of a camera...

@narrowarrows these passages are from page #17 of The Companions of Jehu written by Alexandre Dumas pere--"Sir, I have heard speak of the Companions of Jesus," replied the magistrate with his jeering smile. "The Jesuits, you mean? That is not what I am seeking, sir."....Elisha consecrated Jehu King of Israel, on condition that he exterminate the house of Ahab; Elisha was Louis XVIII; Jehu was Cadoudal; the house of Ahab, the Revolution.
