@van20778 The stadium is suppose to bring jobs to the area, which in turn is expected to lower crime rates and help the city clean up the neighborhood!!!
The stadium is nice and all but its on the middle of a bad neighborhood, Little Havana. Too many crimes and assaults and car break-ins. Should of been built in next to AA Arena, Dolphins Stadium, Panthers Arena or Homestead-Miami Speedway
I am glad they are finally getting out of The staduim of many names -I will callit Dolphins Stadium for now, anyway the location is bad it needed to be built by either the Bank Atlantic Center(wish Broward had stepped up)or Dolphins Stadium or even the AAA they have trouble drawing now when you are within reach of counties North of Dade, what is gonna happen on a Tuesday night looks overcast we all know those South Florida summers you live in Palm Beach like the stadium but hate the location
@PAINTBALLOWNAGE42 wrong look at the numbers I am not saying Broward most of the fans come from North of the Dade-Broward line ask all the teams Heat,Marlins,Dolphins and Panthers to open there books on season ticket holders
does anybody kno the dimensions of the new park??land shark has one of the deepst spots in baseball,i think its like 425ft at the deepest, which imo is redicuious.
This ballpark will never fill up if they are counting on the Dade Hispanic population to fill it. They will never get West Palm and Broward counties down there on a constant basis. Nobody went to the regular season games of 1997 and 2003...only the playoff games. Miami has some of the biggest band wagon jumping fans anywhere. You should have built it on the Sawgrass. You'd have averaged 20K nightly...now maybe 8-10K.
ust cause we dont go out to the games as much doesent mean we dont support the marlins heck our tv ratings are one if not the highest in the whole mlb

what is the point of this stadium, the fans will still not show. All money put into this stadium came from the city because I know there is no good revenue due to no fan support. They should have gone to Vegas. A new stadium will have same results. Do not blame it on a football stadium. Heck, JETS and giants share a stadium and have equal fans. Anyway, YANKEES WILL WIN THE WORLD SERIES, marlins SUCK.
first of all whats ur problem its just a video of what the new ball park will look like. 2nd the reasons the marlins get no revenue is because they have to pay the owner of land shark stadium 70 million dollars a year just to play there not because they dont have a lot of people going!! and 3rd yes it is a football stadium that seats over 75,000 people every other mlb ballpark only seats 25-35 thousand people soo theres your answer! GO FISH!!!
@OPrankster69 and Selig has already stated that more than one All-Star Game will be there in the near future. The next open slot is 2016 and its very likely the Marlins Ballpark will host that game.
and another thing over 15,000 tickets have already been reserved for the opening game in the new ballpark ...(which by the way opens in 2 years) so shut your mouth stupid yankee! you dont even knkow what you talking bout.
ps...the new ballpark seats 31,000 about half the tickets have already been sold! GO FISH!
Okay, when the marlins are going to have full seats in June, my bad. The miami fans will jump out of the bandwagon and show there support for the tesm in Florida with the least amount of fans. You know why, Miami fans are soooooooooo loyal. Yeah Right.
A couple of the renderings you used are from a completely unrelated Marlins ballpark proposal in Bicentennial Park from years ago, but thanks for the effort regardless. I hope the new park winds up looking better than the renderings! The site could have been a lot better, too. That part of Miami is pretty sad and poverty-stricken.
The Miami authorities announced today that tenders for contracts, buildings and concessions are to be awarded to MINORITY only companies! State sanctioned discrimination I call it, I immidiately tore up my remaining tickets for the Marlins season and urge others to do likewise. White buisness owners needent even apply, you have to be a minority owned buisness! What happened to the law!!! Fuck Miami, fuck the politicians, fuck the minorities, and finally fuck the Marlins!
Hey Marlins fans, why are we even worried about what opposing fans have to say about the new stadium? I mean look at it, most of them don't even have a WS ring, let alone 2 so let them continue to hate, we'll still support our team and as a side note, that stadium is going to be built about a half mile from my house!!
landshark stadium has a capacity of 75,200 people. obviously the stadium is only 1/4 full during baseball games. with either 95 degree heat or massive downpours of rain, an average of 18,000 people isn't that bad. i go to games all the time and if ur sitting on the first or third base side, your neck starts to hurt around the 7th inning lol. its not for baseball. when the new stadium comes in 2012...they will fill most of the 37,000 seats unless they sell off all the players again!
I'm not a Marlins fan but you guys have a chance to make the playoffs this year. You guys are what 3 games out of first place in the NL East and 2 for the wild card? I'm sure many more fans are attending now!
they also have improved their friday and weekend game addendances...the money making days lol. many marlins fans tend to be "Fair Weather" fans and they only go when its a good team in town or when the marlins actually compete.
The new dome stadium will also help with that, no more rain delays. But they said it might cost more than the new Yankee Stadium! I feel sorry for the tax payers :P But I do like the look of it, very futuristic!

I bet the first year everyone is going to be there. AFTER it will be empty and the few real fans will be attending the games. I dont know what they were thinking no one goes to their games now so why waste a fortune on something that will literaly collect dust.
I agree not to mention already Miami politicians have made cut backs in fire dept-rescue-snake venom emergency unit, etc . Cut back from what was a small group to begin with but the tax payers money seems to go for the stadium instead and safety means nothing to these grotesque many corrupt miami political failures.
How would you know, you see ignorant dumb fuck like yourself like this think that theyre so cool because they think they know everything. Well apperantly not. Why dont you experience a Marlins game at dolphin stadium. Your just to ignorant to talk to. Go root for your team you bandwagon fuck.
I am not a bandwagon I supported them for years along with the 76ers. I know what I am talking about. I just went to a game yesterday and some bandwagon fan asked "isn't Jayson Werth a picher" And I am not ignorant I speak the truth if the Marlins cant get enough fans into the stadium why the hell are they going to build a new one? I guess for it to have a look on tv like each game is sold out
Thats the thing, on TV you only get to see the sections that arent even open to public. And our attendence avg. is 18k NOT 700. Okay you haters always assume the most impossible things like we have 300 people at the games. So i see your a phillies fan. Well thats not to surprising but you guy seem to have your stadium in the city. Dolphin stadium is in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. Literally. And in Miami during the summer it rains ALL day. So people wont risk going to a game that could be rained out
You people must live in 'la la land" the amount of money that will be stolen/skimmed and things that will be have to be re-done at extra cost to you will be staggering.
Yeah, Marlins fan too, but, I think we should stay in Dolphin Stadium. Nobody wants to see a baseball game in Florida, one of the nicest states in USA
Dolphin Stadium is 1/4 full because, I don't know if you know this or not, but it's 95 degrees outside for most of the major league season. Its called the SUMMER in south florida, and it rains during half the games too. Go to Tampa Bay and Tropicana field and tell me how many fans are sitting in their dry, 75 degree seats.
... not to mention the stadium is TERRIBLE for baseball. You're a mile way from the foul line in the outfield and you're up above the action because it's made to create great site-lines for football... not baseball. Heck, people whom arent Marlin fans will show up in the summer just to get 3 hours of air conditioning! Go Fish!
The Marlins stadium was about 1/4 full at any given time. This like EVERYTHING the Cuban political Miami "Cosa Nostra" does is a farce to put money in their friends/family pockets in terms of contracts. Who knows how much money will be skimmed . Imagine millions. Ofcourse most of the Miami Cubans are so trained to vote for these parasites that they will all be reelected . Miami needed more money for schools-public transportation- other problems but NOT a stadium.
From strictly an economic standpoint this Stadium construction would infuse the city with much needed stimulus. For those who think this money shouldn't be spent on a stadium I say first of all this money was collect from tourist and has been specifically designated for projects like this only. Second if you think that if this stadium isnt built the money will go to something 'more useful' then you know nothing about miami lawmakers. this money would be spent on some shady deal so fast.
They are going to put a baseball toilet (That is what it looks like ) in the site once made legendary by the old Orange Bowl. The public funding will top 480 millions of the 600 million total cost (Cost overruns are going to be at least 10% of that number), but the marlins have never been known for selling more than half of the seats most of the time. They refused to allowed closer scrutiny of their finances during the process to get the project approved. I hope that it never gets built.
yea a lot of fans dont go beacuse of how far it is from miami and thats what the marlins need why not i mean what money money so its not like we buy stupied stuff
Stupid. All these idiots complaining about the cost to the tax payer. Why dont I hear those people complaining about the performing arts center we didnt need that is going to end up costing almost a billion dollars? Or the other 2.5 billion that no one talks about that is part of the same package as the stadium except most of it is going toward a tunnel most people say is useless. Do you really care about mis-spending money or are you just a hater?
Why don't you think before you speak. The Marlins were drawing well over 2million fans annually (nearly 30,000 a game, a lot more than half) until the team was dismantled in 1998. Fan confidence in the team was shattered by that as it would be in most cities. This ownership is working to restore that confidence. They won have more than ever before and although they have been penny-wise they have managed to be competitive. This deal could help restore attendance to high numbers.
@esteban0321 The building in the video is supposed to be a ballpark or a shopping mall? The Marlins drew close to or over 2 million fans 3 times which means that for 14 seasons they couldn't draw 2 million. Even 2 million is the sign of a less than stellar draw. Pro sports just doesn't work well in Florida.
@esteban0321 yeah right, this owner are restoring the confidence selling or changing good players for .....NOTHING,they change cantu for whom?a injured player and a dime a dozen talent, givig away coddy ross for nothing, who become the next to leave the marlins???when the stadium opens only hanley gonna be the good player(if he is not changed in the next year)
@esteban0321 I disagree this stadium albeit needed needs to be closer to the Broward line,Joe Robbie {rip} did a study prior to building his stadium and realized most his fan base is from north of the Dade-Broward line,I think until management shows that they can be trusted this team is gonna be in the same boat since 1998,over the past several years they look like they are doing good but i was there in 1998 when the lost 108 games following a World Title we will wait and see
@56LC Actually a lot more ppl go than you think. remember more ppl go to football games than baseball games. and right now they are playing in the dolphin's stadium
The Marlins will need to succeed in making this new ballpark as nice as possible, if they want to have any success with attendence in the near future.
already a fail rainbow colors why dont you ad some pink

The Marlins drew close to or over 2 million fans 3 times which means that for 14 seasons they couldn't draw 2 million. Even 2 million is the sign of a less than stellar draw. Pro sports just doesn't work well in Florida.

The Marlins will need to succeed in making this new ballpark as nice as possible, if they want to have any success with attendence in the near future.
