Good video, this guy is right on the money. Anyone having troubles needs to forget about speed. Speed comes with time, it all becomes muscle memory. Learn the beats as slow as you need to, the more you play (especially with other musicians) the faster you will become. Drums can be very frustrating because you have to spend the first year or so sounding like a loud idiot, eventually it starts to work it self out and you sound more like a loud asshole ha ha.

I prefer the style that the Misfits (from the 80s), Bad Religion and the Adolescents play. The guy in the vid is skilled for sure, but there is another drumming style he is not conveying here. The essence of that certain kind of punk drumming.

@aceisking Dude tuning is based on your style. For example, what do you like a thuddy sound, or a more resonating sound. Then tune until you find it. If punk is anything like metal then it will be more on the thuddy sound.
