  • Is this your personal best record?

  • What world record?

  • what method do you use? It didn't look like the vandenbergh's method

  • nice! :)

  • took me about a month to first figure out my square one. (no cheats ex. youtube)

when I finally did it was one of my happiest moments in cubing.

its not that hard after you get it the first time.

  • RUBIK'S KOMBAT!

    CUBALITY

  • nice choice in music

  • MORTAL COMBAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Screw you :) I'll never be able to solve my square-1

  • Mortaaal KOMBAATTT :D

  • aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • i don't understand my square-1. can anyone please help me? when i try to solve it, i can't turn it in some parts. it locks up and i don't know why. i don't know if this is just becuase of the middle layer sticking out but..i'm not sure. i don't think it is. when i turn the top /(3,-3), it does the slice perfectly. but when i turn the cube over and do it to the other base, it won't turn! please help anyone! thanks

  • watch the video response to this video

  • It's because you're an idiot.

  • ahhh maybe that's why..oh and what kind of person would even bother repying to a comment they think is from an idiot is also one..thanks for replying!

  • Looks like you have some figuring to do before you start learning to solve it. You'll get used to it. It's a weird puzzle.

  • ok thank you

  • 0_0

    you are a god!!!!!

  • your lucky that you didn't come across the 31 move parity algorithm!

  • wat is it?

  • Parity is an irregularity in the solve (uneven number of 1-for-1 permutations) that can only be fixed with a very long (relatively speaking) sequence of turns. It's a bad thing, but there's a 50% chance of it happening since it is practically unpredictable (and 50% means it isn't lucky if I don't get it, its just fortunate).

  • some paritys are predictably, depending on the right scramble.

  • I said "practically". The only time I can think of that parity would be predictable is if you were one move away from finishing step one, after which you would skip steps 2, 3 and 4 (or at the very least 2 and 3). You would just have to look ahead to what case you had for permutation and see whether you have parity or not.

  • EVEN SO, you would only really be able to cut one measly twist out of the massive parity algorithm if you were lucky enough to get the case I described above. So, I still say there's a 50% chance of getting parity, and "predicting" it is utterly useless.

  • awsome music, i hecka wanna learn to solve that beezy

  • I have a tutorial on my channel.

  • FINISH HIM!

  • is this harder than doing a 5x5x5 or anything bigger?

  • That's a matter of opinion. It's a tricky puzzle, but it has a much smaller maximum depth, and faster world record than the 5x5x5.

  • besides this cube, what other cubes can u solve?

  • 2x2x2, 3x3x3, 4x4x4, 5x5x5, 6x6x6, 7x7x7, NxNxN computer cube (I've done as big as 20x20x20), Skewb, Megaminx, Pyraminx, Pyraminx Crystal, Impossiball, Rainbow Cube, Super Square-1, Backspin, CMetrick, 15-Puzzle, Rubik's: Snake; Magic; Master Magic; Brain Racker; UFO. I've got a pretty big collection it seems. I solve some of them on my channel. Check it out.

  • good solve. my pb is 54 seconds with no algs

  • MORTAL KOMBAT!

  • ya i have one of those too. im kinda scared to mess it up though. once i got the white and green sides to make a muffin shape! ^^

  • i am going to eat your pants!

  • HAHAHAHAHA

  • if i can solve a super square one can i solve this thing? :D

  • Yes. A Super Square-1 is essentially just two Square-1's.

  • so its only one algorithm you need to remember?

  • Square-1 has many possible combinations, just like Rubik's Cube. The method I use only requires 4 algorithms.

  • but that things a beast :P

  • im stuck on square-1 ... i have one layer done but on the top layer i can't permute all of the corners and edges

  • Try a different approach. Watch my Square-1 tutorial.

  • never mind, i worked it out :p you do it different to me, i get all the corners oriented then all the edges, then i permute 1 side, put it to the bottom and then permute the other side... i couldn't permute the other side but i worked it out. i had to do (-3,0) then the P algorithm, then (-3,0) then the P algorithm again :)

  • were can you get those

  • ahaha, 'beast'. that was verrrrry funny.

  • MORTAL COMBAT!!!!

  • IT MORTAL KOMBAT with a K

  • Looks like it need lube or loosening

  • I just ordered a SQ1 (and a megaminx and 3x3 maze stickers) - I can't wait until they come! eeeeeeeeeeee!

  • i ordered a square too yesterday !!! I can't wait to see it lol

  • lol at beginning n song

  • why do we never see girls solving rubik's cubes, square-1s, etc.

  • YouTube-ers Sa967St and Desie37 both beat me at my last competition. They're two of the fastest female cubers in the world. Check out their profiles.

  • interesting i mean i know a girl who can solve rubik's cube and square-1 cuz looked on youtube lol but still

  • how bout me? lol, i guess im not famous, i can solve both. basketcream34, just know, that there are a lot of girl cubers but we dont go to competitions

  • I'm a girl cuber and I do go to competitions... So there! :P

  • If you really want to see more of them, teach them :P

  • i doubt they really want to learn : /

  • I've taught 6 girls that I can think of right now to solve the Rubik's Cube, although I've likely taught more.

  • no girl i know wants to learn the rubik's cube except one oh well nice to know some learn it

  • i have a queston how do you do comps?

  • By "comps" do you mean competitions? And if so, do you mean the official Square-1 event, or any/all events?

  • ya competitions and any evemt

  • The main speedsolving events involve each qualifying competitor doing 5 solves, each different to the other, but competitor A's 1st scramble will be the same as competitor B's 1st scramble and the same goes for 2,3,4 and 5. They ensure this by scrambling each competitors nth solve with an nth computer generated scrambling algorithm. To calculate the competitors standing, the best and worst of their 5 solves are excluded and the mean of the middle 3 is taken.

  • For some events (namely: Square-1, Megaminx, Rubik's Clock and Rubik's Cube with feet); the competitor only does 3 solves and the mean of those solves is calculated to determine his/her standing. For blindsolving events a "best of n" format is used where n is normally 2 or 3, but sometimes only 1. Meaning that the competitor only has n tries, and their best attempt is what will determine their ranking. Search for the 'WCA official regulations' for more details about competing.

  • were do i find the wca regulations?

  • Search for them. I hear Google is good.

  • are you going to the Carnegie mellon open?

  • Probably not

  • Nice, I learned your method to solve my sq-1. What method do those guys use to get sub 20 times?

  • mortal kombat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Do you prefer the original square-1 or the one you used in your tutorial video? I have the original one.

  • The one I use in my tutorial is an original Square-1 with cubesmith vinyl stickers.

  • Oh, Okay thanks!

  • LOL mortal Kombat theme. LOVE IT

  • what method do you use to make it a square?

  • First time was for the solve, second for the music! ^_^

  • found one at store for 50 cents

  • nice beautiful and good video !!!!!!

u inspired me to get square 1 , too.

how long will it take me to get it??? what cubes do i need to know how to solve first???????

that it changes shape is so interesting

    thanks for this video

    thanks

  • you dont need to know how to solve any cubes because it is completely different to any other puzzle.

  • How the fuck do you do that?

  • Condensed ambient cheating obviously!

    =p Nice Puzzle.

  • Is the Square-1 from PuizzleProz any good?

  • Its a cool puzzle :)

  • Thanx... But I meant the Quality...

  • it is actually the best square-1 you could get. His square-1 is just really broken in. But an origional square-1 isnt as good as a puzzleproz.

  • i got one from him and put some silicon, its smooth as hell, i recommend you get it from him

  • i ordered one off of amazon should it by friday or so but i just cant wait!

  • wow i can make square but cant get the colors right

  • he was like one or two turns from the tulip, great solve, but still a little cheatish

  • i got mine at think geek

  • how did you get to the cube so fast? did u just get uber lucky or is their somthing i dont know...cuz it takes me longer to get to the cube than solveing it

  • he already paired up alll the edges

  • where did you get your square-1

  • eBay

  • where do u get this? like store? order? website?

  • just to be OCD, the square-1 isn't a cube. That's impossible. it's a rectangular prism. (Or, i guess is could be a square prism, but it's definitely not a cube.)

    GREAT SOLVE!!!

  • To be even more OCD; I wouldn't go as far as to say "thats impossible", because cubes do occur, even geologically :P. But yes, Square-1 is the tiniest bit taller than it's length and width. Good call, and thanks.

  • and to continue the OCD-ness with a rebuttal, i actually WOULD go so far as to say "that's impossible" because in this day and age, nothing is perfect, no matter how perfect it may seem from normal distance.

it's like a person who's a mile-a-mo'. they only look good from a mile-a-mo' but when you see them any closer than that, u just wanna regurgitate all over the place lol.

(But I'd like to know, where exactly do you find these geological cubes?)

  • This is true, but we can come sooooo close. And so can nature apparently; pyrite naturally forms clusters of cubes, check it out! :)

  • COOLBEANS!!!! I shall check it out!

  • lol. well if ur going to say it like that, everything is made up of atoms, and atoms are not flat (as they would need to be for a cube to be possible). and for that matter, atoms are not even spheres, the are just a nucleus with an indistinct electron cloud, that is continuously changing. that would mean the square-1 cannot be a rectangular prism, or even an octahedral or any geometric at all

  • Okay, I'll take this so the final step (I'm arguing that cubes are impossible now XD). Cubes are 3-D right? And since everything in our surroundings is in the 4th dimension (time), it is actually technically impossible to form any 3-D shape since we are all components of time and energy :).

  • lol. very creative, but the first 3 dimensions are spatial (having to do with distance) and the 4th dimention is not. the 4th dimention is not spatial, so 3-d objects ARE possible, and in fact everything on this earth is 3-D. but still, atoms are not flat, so nothing in this world is a cube. also, there is no such thing as a straight line, which means u cannot make any exact shapes at all

  • so all of my kindergarten geometry lessons are for nothing!!!!! I HATE THE NONEXISTENT SQUARE, excuse me while i go break down and sob... are you happy now! :'(

  • ummm yeah, the square-1 can be a cube. and cubes r possible. >_>

    and nice solve

  • thats like the Transformers cube or sumthin

  • The greatest thing is... You can actually make the Transformers symbol out of the pieces of this puzzle XD

  • The kite?

  • Nope, the shape goes: CCEECEEC (clockwise from the top). The kite goes: ECECCECE. (E = edge, C = corner).

  • FOCK MANOOOOOOO

  • sweet

  • hol lehet ilyet kapni :o? (aki tudja [magyar] üziben írja meg) kösszke előre is! :D

  • Mortal Kombat music? :P

    Anyways, nice vid, Emile.

  • you get a life

  • Why should I get a life when you children are listening to Mortal Kombat and solving puzzles.

  • your retarted!

  • nice it took me a few days to solve te square 1 the first time i almost forgot i even have it though, better go dust it off and try to make a video that doesnt last more than 10 mins lol

  • Hey Emile, you wanna teach me how to do the sq-1? I think I've completely forgotten how to solve those things, lol.

  • does the black square-1 from cube4you come with stickers?

  • yes it does :)

  • thanks alot

  • My record is 41.98 seconds. :) (lucky for me)

  • Where did you get your edge orientation alg from, it looks fast, and I haven't found any good algs at all =\

  • watch kippy33`s tutorial

  • sweet music choice

  • So far you seem to be the only one who has a Square 1 with the standard color scheme.

  • Everyone seems to be buying them from cube4you...

  • cool, I have 1 and my best time is 3:00 minutes, but I think that u know all the notation, I only know one, the other came from my brain but still cool, if i have time, i will memorize all of them

  • hey thats nice where can i get one made by rubik's brand for cheap price(i had bad experience with non-rubik's or non-eastsheen 3x3x3's)lol plz tell me where 2 buy it from

  • eBay.

  • do u have a tut if now make 1 i cant even get it back into a square

  • nice solve, but you had it SO set up to create the square easily... lol

  • lol... if you can solve a freakin sq-1 in 45 secs getting the cube shape is easy as hell! This was a very nice solve!

  • Yea, that was totally obvious... and he exaggerates it so much.

  • how do you scramble it againg after you solve it?

  • nice vid

  • mortal kombat FTW

  • the scramble was easy to make back into a cube, 1 turn makes the star with the big pieces opposite or adjacent in the opposite layer. but still a good solve, i still got to work on the edge permutations

  • If you can get it in to a cube and get the top and bottom colors matching your lucky. Its the color side matching I hate.

  • My Square-1 recently majorly broke. I miss it =[

    Good solve.

  • you had it set up so you could make it a square fast i already know how to solve it so i saw that.

  • cubefans is the way to go im getting some diy cubes from him and a black diy square-1 from him but his megaminx sucks. also i got eastsheens from him and for all u dudes that go chinese megaminx from cubefans that suck, mefferts is in stock im so happy i sold my lair video game so i can get the money to buy a meffert megaminx and i keep rambling lol i need to stop alright later dudes

  • Oh shit... I'm fucked...

  • lol, I love rubix stuff

  • he had it ez b4 he started.

  • how much do people buy these things for on ebay cuz i have one

  • from 9 to 11 dollars depending on the color.

  • dang i was hoping it was gonna be like some antique roadshow shit and be 15,000 dollars lol

  • lol yeah i thought it was going to be like 50 bucks when I bought my white diy squar-1 from cubefan but it was only 11 bucks

  • i bought mine from cube4you and it was only 9 bucks (white diy).. but the shippings freakin 7 bucks

  • yea i know i paid $10 for shipping, they come from china!

  • ebay

  • were can you get a square 1

  • ebay

  • ebay

  • That's amazing... God should give you a free cheeseburger and a 300,000 dollar scholarship. :)

  • i've done it but the square one is probably the most aggravating twisty puzzle i've ever encountered

  • i dont know how you did it, but you seemed to turn the cube, with the beat, lol

  • any 1 want to trade a sqaure 1 for my revenge im not into the revenge and i like the square 1 so any 1 wanna trade

  • whats it look like? Cuz I have one

  • how hard is it i might get it

is it hard compared to the megaminx cuz i can do that

  • the minx is extremely easy compared to the SQ-1 because the Megaminx kinda works like a 3x3

  • oh ya i guess so

from the tutorials though it doesnt look that hard

    i got it anyways though

  • I can't do it! AHHHH

  • PLEASE RELEASE A TUTORIAL!!!!

  • is a square 1 hard?

  • thats gotta be the most intimidating thing i have ever seen.

  • this cube is annoying.

just looking at it makes me cringe.

lol i was listening to Sesame Street techno remix and he was doing it on beat.

creepy. and yes i dont know how to spell sesame street (i had to look it up) lol
