I have faith; my fellow paramedics, the fire & police personnel I work along with,the pilots who fly every day, the men & women who serve in the military. I have no real way of knowing that they can do their jobs, so I take it on faith that the proper authorities ensures that they do as it does for me. Don't be mad because I don't waste my faith on a made up, convoluted fairy tale like the bible.
Love and respect are the way to go, but unfortunately if you believe that always works you're in la, la land. Human nature is NOT good, it is subtle at best, so when the love and respect doesn't work, it's best to have the fear kick in to keep us in line. It isn't that God's a tyrant like you make Him out to be, He's merciful, there is a certain element of fear in us all when it comes to authority, not just with God. The bible says if you do well you have nothing to fear Gen 4:7.
