Noticed back then that no one got the $500 cash bonus for getting the exact price on the bid to get up on stage. When did they start doing that? I don't quite remember when.
From what I've read, this episode was a replacement. The show originally scheduled to rerun was #0153D from December 13, 1972, but was assumed to be replaced because the showcase winner was $209 away, which may confuse some people who wonder why it wasn't a Double Showcase win.
I like the music they played for when a new contestant came on down to Contestants' Row or went on stage. When did they change it to the music they have now?
@mackbee628 : I don't know when they changed the music, but all the theme music for TPIR was done by Sheila Cole. The music they used in 1975 to call people to "c'mon down" was called "Walking" by Sheila Cole.
April is quite frankly one of the best Clock Game players I've seen. She had no idea what the prices were yet won both by staying focused and not getting nervous.
wow! did styles majorly change like 10000% from just '75-'85. looks more like a 20 year difference than just 10 lol. however '85-'95, and especially 2000-2010 - you really dont see "that" big of a difference.
@Jako32. The style have changed over the years... I think since 2000's to now, its that people created there own style and intertwined with fashion...
wow. just wow. 1975, this was? everybody's so mature and polite on this episode. and that song at approx. 1:01, i will always be humming that song. believe me.
No, that's NOT the Cats cue. Check out the Price is Right music sites - the Cats is different. This cue comes from a "family" of cues, whose predominant cue is Cue 19 (more strings/brass than the cut heard at 1:01).
Yeah GSN has become a "spectacle" of a game show channel. Airing those new "remixes" of those classics, such as press your luck, $50,000 Pyramid, Family Feud, etc. Those new remixes are a chaos of "glamor and color decor" it doesnt even make sense anymore. No more of this "cosy" 70's and 80's game show atmospheres. It would be nice if we can purchase a DVD set with EVERY SINGLE EPISODE of TPIR from day 1 to until the late 90z, since after then the show became shit.

wow the show hasn't changed at all in 30+ years. except bob barkinghead was running out on stage back then, now he's sitting in a wheelchair being fed mashed carrots in a nursing home somewhere, pondering his amazing legacy.
He's not in a nursing home. He's not an invalid. He's perfectly capable of doing the same things he could do then. He could still kick Adam Sandler's ass! lol!
April got the stereo exactly right. In case you were wondering why she didn't get money for her perfect bid, when The Price Is Right went to an hour in the fall of 1975, they started with the $100 (later $500) for a perfect bid.
I kinda like the old school "prize" music. A lot of them had good basslines, nice drum grooves, and catchy melodies. Anyway, we're going to miss you, Bob.
Note that some of the old-school prize music from '72 was rolled in all through the Barker reign. Score Productions could come up with some great tunes.
Gotta agree with you there. I want to say that the intro music (CALLIN THE CONTESTANTS)had a kickin base. Shame they didnt leave it. Still miss Bob Barker
Seems from what Ive watched of Drew, he's kept it strong. Besides the fact the demographics of the audience are now college-frat-boys-military types, then its a good fit that'll keep the show going.

Well, you know, Discipline during childhood, which includes a spanking, really does a lot for that type of behaviour later on.
Too bad the idiots in charge now think it's 'bad' to discipline your kids.

I wasn't around back then but I am impressed with the show then. The contestants are very mature about the game. Everybody is well dressed.

Unlike today, where everyone acts like little kids and dresses however they want without even caring how they look.
