This is the song that linked the Beatles to Brian Epstein. Customers at Epstein's store asked him to order it. He tried but couldn't b/c it wasn't available in GB at the time. So he went to the Cavern Club and saw them. The rest is...
This wasnt actually a Beatles song they were just doing the backing for it. They thought it was so boring so while recording they suddenly started playing and singing it the way they thought it should be x
I have this on 45, its on a yellow promo only mgm label. Its on ebay, my username is fisherman 453. Its starting at $200- but ive seen some sell for thousandsbut i think those werre on decca although promo mgm is very rare as well. Come on check it out on ebay! Just 2 days left!
Este tema siempre me gustó la ostia, en general todo este Lp de Tony Sheridan, con el apoyo de Beatles, ciertamente; gracias por los ecos de sociedad, muy interesante...
wow, ive loved the Beatles for many years, but never herd this song. Love it how its starts off in the classic slow song style for the 50/60's (songs like my grandad used to sing) and then breaks into 60's rock! What a song! :)
Tony Sheridan and His Beat Brothers...not the Beatles. The Beat Brothers may have gone on to become the Beatles, but this is not a Beatle recording. Surely i am not the first to point this out.
@GrandFunker Yes, this is John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Pete Best backing Tony Sheridan on this 1961 recording of "My Bonnie" recorded by Bert Kaempfert in Hamburg, West Germany. The dead give away is the major 7th chord at the end, a standard Beatle ending used later by the lads on several recordings. Sie sind eine auslander, sie sind eine Fremde! PS, they called them the Beat Brothers because The Beatles sounded like German slang for wee-wee, or der Peedles. Verstehen sie?
@dougalmac54, just stumbled on this old post. i know little about the beatles or their history, but that last chord doesn't sound like a major seventh. i definitely hear the ninth. you could argue that the M7 is hiding in there too, but i don't her it at all. no insult intended, M7 is 1 below the root. btw, thx 4 sharing ur historical knowledge.
I believe so, they were all assholes to each other. They all had ridiculously large egos and all kinds of problems. Yoko definitely hurt their relationship but she wasn't the deciding factor.
@Bendylegs123 Tony Sheridan is the main star though and this song was a "standard"...It also wasn't the first song Beatles recorded, though perhaps it was more "high tech" than their previous recordings. But this was the first song that had some commercial success including Beatles so you are not that far off
Heather Mills is a bitch who just wanted fame and Pauls money. She accused Paul of abusing her and even ordered a lawsuit. Good thing Pauls getting married!!!
Hey Grand funkere those are the Beatles featuring tony sheridan in 1961, believe I'am the #1 Beatles historian. Buy the album live at the BBC this song is there.
