Homosexuality was not only accepted but embraced in many ancient cultures. Especially within the Roman Empire. So I don't see what the problem is, it was not unless Christianity that homosexuality was seen as a "sin". @vadouis The Roman empire had risen before christianity was born. There is art and sculptures depicting homosexuality in culture, not as a bad thing, but a beautiful form of love. It was not viewed as this awful thing being a natural occurency in nature. The message of god is love and equality, not the hate that is being spread today. I was sitting in bed with my boyfriend when the TV news announced passage of the NY marriage equality bill. My eyes filled with tears because I realized I finally have the option to get married...and that I was sitting next to the man I could actually envision doing it with. Synagogues aren't being forced to marry Catholics etc. There are so many churches and synagogues that marry gay people already they don't have to sue anyone except the state and federal governments to recognize what church and god already has... not the other way around. And many just want to have a civil marriage recognized by no church.

So I don't see what the problem is, it was not unless Christianity that homosexuality was seen as a "sin". @vadouis The Roman empire had risen before christianity was born. There is art and sculptures depicting homosexuality in culture, not as a bad thing, but a beautiful form of love. It was not viewed as this awful thing being a natural occurency in nature. The message of god is love and equality, not the hate that is being spread today. I was sitting in bed with my boyfriend when the TV news announced passage of the NY marriage equality bill. My eyes filled with tears because I realized I finally have the option to get married...and that I was sitting next to the man I could actually envision doing it with. We hugged, we jumped up and down, and then we went to Sheridan Square to join the spontaneous celebrations. What a happy day!!!!!

Churches have always been for opposite sex couples and now with this - the gays are forcing them to marry them or they sue the church for discrimination, and it's wrong. I say you want equal rights? Synagogues aren't being forced to marry Catholics etc. There are so many churches and synagogues that marry gay people already they don't have to sue anyone except the state and federal governments to recognize what church and god already has... not the other way around. And many just want to have a civil marriage recognized by no church.
