@fromthesidelines Yeah, it did. Great time to be a kid. I'd been hearing this jazzy intro in my head for years...probably hadn't heard it since '66. It was good to finally see and hear the intro again. Took me back alot of years.
Yup, plays through my head, fondly, as well!! Probably been 40 years since hearing the theme....I REALLY looked forward to seeing it when it was on in the sixties.....Can't say the same for today's programming.........Thanks for making it available!!!
Oh My God I remember this theme song....being really little & watching the year change in January. I loved the theme music. There were only 11 channels, and where we ived only 3 of them came in!
There are several other series of Discovery shows dating from 1968-'71 in other videos posted on here, this is one of the earliest versions of that show. It was a predecessor of "Make a Wish" which was that show's replacement in late 1971.
I barely remember "Make A Wish" except for the few clips I came across while on the net. If memory serves me, Viginia Gibson hosted or co-hosted most every season of Discovery until its end in 1971. It still brings back great memories of growing up for me.
This theme almost haunted me for decades until I found the other clips here. One the film transfer I got of this opening I decided to remove the hiss from the film which makes is a little nicer to listen to.
I had this theme stuck in my head for years until I bumped into it here on YouTube. Going through a bunch of clips I collected I discovered (no pun intended) that I had this one to add to the collection of versions here. Probably one of the best kid-oriented shows to air on Sundays,
I just happened across this with some assorted vid clips I had in my collection. I grew up watching this on Sundays and since other folks were kind enough to share their intros I thought I would share this one. Sorry, I don't have anything other than the 66 version intro
Did one of these programs travel to Mexico or Guatemala to discuss the Mayan civilization??

I watched this program back when it was Discovery '63 and '64. I think it was a daily show then. The theme music sure brings back memories!

I don't remember anything about it but I know I liked it. I somehow remember it as NY oriented. The PanAm building, WTC was going up I think.
