  • Nice work on this. Great Video also.

  • just kidding it seems like a lot of work and planning but it looks great!! Will you add trees and roads and bridges too?

  • @farstarfilm This particular video is 2 years old (wow, time flies!) My more recent "Waymith" shows roads and SOME trees, but I would like to add more trees and scenery as time permits

  • dude r u ever going to leave ur house?

  • @farstarfilm considering how little progress I've made in the last year with my layout, I can honestly say I'm not home enough

  • nice trains were did you get your ge hybrid engine

  • @carshowkiosk I bought the engine at my friends local store called Atlantic Rails in Folsom, NJ...he has a website of the same name

  • That engine is crazy!

  • the 9-volt battery is to keep the suods running when the engine goes over a dead spot

  • @thetractorman15 he probaly spent about $875 dollars on this engine

  • nice dude. Where did you get the Maersk husky stack well car? what company makes it?

  • @bluecoatscheesypoofs Its made by MTH...and I bought it on ebay about 3 years ago. Thanks for watching

  • @Broncort1 Thanks

  • Beautiful engine. Can you shut those green lights off while running or do they have to strobe the whole time? Congrats on the unit, they are hard to locate but very pretty in the dark LOL.

  • @skeley1 they can be shut off. They can be shut off by a switch or they shut off when the headlights are off.

  • how much money did you spend on that train itself $500 good that is a good train???

  • Metal makes the difference - plastic looks and feels like garbage - reeks of cheapness, thus, this engine makes any plastic diesel look, and feel, like a cheap toy, comparatively - it makes them ALL obsolete in essence. The model (GE Hybrid)replicated is not beautiful, however - much too square and boxy. Very nice video, my friend.

  • cant wait to see more updates

  • that GE Hybrid is top on my list of dream engines. beautiful stuff. Why MTH over Lionel? price? cuz the Lionel quality is definitely superior. .. as you can see with the GE.

  • @modnarm I guess I can say the reason I have all MTH engines is because the DCS was out long before the Legacy. I wanted a system like DCS and that was a big deal to me. Price is a small reason. The Hybrid is all diecast, which is unheard of in diesel Lionel's or MTH's. Lionel went the extra mile for this engine, and I love it. I'll be looking for the Genset when it comes out, but I don't see myself getting into Lionel engines after that, or MTH for that matter. I have a full deck as it is.

  • @modnarm well this is vision line and the rest of the engines that lionel makes arent as detailed as this so you get it now right?

  • @trainman1654 yea i 'get it' ha. I got it last year too haha.

  • @modnarm i hope to get it this year for christmas so when i get it ill leave a comment on your channel saying so then ill make a review on it

  • @trainman1654 well good luck with your $800 christmas present! i'm getting an expression pedal for my keyboard haha.

  • @modnarm good luck man to you too

  • very nice o scale layout simple =)

  • Nice setup the lionel hybrid that was really cool Great video and keep that camera rolling my friend! . i will be working on my layout soon. by the way what size is your

layout. its a o scale thank you for your time..

  • @SuperRailroads it is O scale and its 14'x20 not including the turntable area which is about 4'x 7'.

  • Please let me know if this GE Evolution really has that much of a better sound quality and chatter ( I'm not that interested in the detail as much because of my poor eye sight) than any other MTH Premier or Lionel diesel. Before I spend close to $750.00 for the CP vision line is it worth the difference in the price. And which next two diesels would have the best quality total sounds under it.

    Ty

    Frank

  • @beerdispensing Being the only Lionel engine I have, I really can't say much about the sound. What I can say is that every time my friend runs a Lionel engine at his store, I felt that Lionel's sound is much better than MTH's. As far as the price difference, the Hybrid is ALL diecast and much heavier than the typical diesel engine...not to mention the detail. I is really a matter of judgement on your part on wheather you want to spend the extra money on a Hybrid.

  • Hi, can you tell me when you will put another up date on your layout , thanks Lou

  • @lsant36 another week or 2...want to finish my 4 block lights first :-)

  • is the O scale and the sound i love was it already with sound how can you tell

  • @jmsschooner all engines come with sound if you get MTH or Lionel...

  • how much

  • would u sell your catipillar train

  • I'd sell anything I own for the right price!

  • Great engine! Lionel finally got it right! Enjoy!

  • where do u get all ur trains and i like all ur trains i wish i had all of ur train

  • Love the sounds when it stops and starts moving

  • the best part of that is the big plume of smoke you get when the engine revs up...very realistic!

    Thanks for watching.

  • is it ho scale

  • O scale...

  • how much is it

  • see below :-)

  • the lionel hybrid is probally their best modern loco and the best vision line loco. how much was the hybrid??

  • expect to pay between $700-$800 depending on sales tax, etc

  • nice layout and engines

  • At first, I thought you got someone to do the front but when you said that YOU made it, I was amazed. That is the best front of the layout I have seen. The lionel hybrid is a great engine. I plan to get into lionel soon enough. Looks great, Bob! BTW, Those steamers are AWESOME!

  • Thanks or your comment. Woodworking is another hobby of mine. Its nice to be able to combine 2 hobbies...makes the layout that much more fun and interesting to build :-)

  • Bob.....You are doing an OUTSTANDING job on your layout and the benchwork is spectacular!!! KUDOS to you!! That Lionel Hybrid is AWESOME!!! I love it man!!! Runs great with that command base and DCS! (I will be asking you about that..Looking at a Legacy NS SD40-2) My first Lionel too! 10/5 stars and keep up the great work!!!

  • Thanks Rob...I'll catch up to you yet!! :-)

  • Nice engine and all again, but I've about had it with Lionel. I'm tired of trains breaking down every time they come out of the tunnel. Not literally, but you get what I mean.

  • Awesome engine!

  • You turn the Hobby into a work of art!

"amazing" :-) no other word ....

  • It's an honor to get such high praise from a giant of the hobby/youtube community! Thanks, Z! :-)

  • outstanding

  • That GE hybrid rocks. Nice work dude.

  • Thanks, Eric. Just want to let you know that I don't know when the Genset is shipping.

  • That's one rocking engine! I plan for my company to make a non-powered version of this model as well as GE's test car to go with it. Nice video!

  • lionels vision is the shit!! their steamers have movable parts like the bell and when you blow the whistle- steam comes out of the actual whistle- VERY EXPENSIVE!! i stick to MTH for that reason- but what an gorgeous engine!!! hey- you cant rush art- dont feel bad for not getting the progress you want- its great- very nice carpentry!! the more presentable it is- the better!!

  • You did such a great job! Love the engine!

  • Ahh man i'm so jealous! I want that engine so bad, but its freakin expensive. You did such a fantastic job on the woodwork on your layout! 10/5***** and into my fav's

  • Thanks, PGH...I'm looking forward to watching your progress on your layout!

  • If only the neon lights were on the actual engine!

  • As far as I know, they are. When the batteries are charging (from the traction motors), these lights are supposed to be flashing.

  • The front of your layout is beautiful. Great useful space built in. Great job! That GE is nice. I am an MTH guy too but wow, that hybrid is something else. Great video.

  • WOW!!!! 10**

  • Great job on the wood front Bob, that really gives it a pro finish. That hybrid is a real showboat !!! Very cool... Thos side travling strobes will make for some awesome night running.. And I like the detailed interior. I just picked up a new MTH loco, but I still say Lionel has them beat on the sound quality... What do you think ?

  • I'm an MTH guy 100%, but I always knew Lionel blows them out of the water with sound quality. This video doesn't do justice to my original excitement seeing this run for the first time....truely a terrific job by Lionel!

  • I had seen it in the catalog when I was shopping for my new loco... but seeing it run is awe inspiring man... it really is like no other... Those side access details I don't think were mentioned in the catalog.

  • The only reason I saw the side doors was because it was mentioned in the manual, else I never would have known it was there...lol.

  • thats a beautiful setup for the front of your layout and controls. excellent!!!!!

  • thanks, JD! I want to apologize to my buds on here for not having progress on the layout itself. I hand built the command center cabinet myself and that took about 3 weeks of spare time...lol. The rest took a couple more weeks. I finished the top molding today! :-)

  • Sweet, the green neon lights on the engine looks great, 5 stars. Sweet piece of equipment
